About this property
Sunny Beach House one Block From the Beach
Enjoy beach living one block from the beach! Recently updated, fresh, sunny house that is perfect for families with young children or small groups. Fully furnished and stocked with the necessities you need to enjoy your stay. Back yard with outdoor seating area and BBQ. Garage with beach toys and kayaks. Spacious master suite with balcony facing sunrise over the bay. Our house is close to the beach, restaurants, and family-friendly activities.
THE SPACE Our place is good for families with young children, or for couples looking for a cozy retreat. Our garage is stocked with beach toys that the kids can enjoy. This house has one master suite with balcony with side views of the bay; two guest rooms on 2nd and 3rd floor, one with a king size bed, the other with two singles; and one kid bedroom with a bunk bed and a twin bed (this room is for kids, NOT suitable for adults). This house can accommodate up to 4-5 adults plus 2-3 young kids.
The house is 1 block away from the Ocean View beach, less than 10 minute walking distance. The beach is quiet, family friendly, not crowded. There are a couple of restaurants nearby, and a beach activity store with stand-up paddle boards and jet skis.
We rent the house year round through Airbnb. During the Summer months we do short term rentals of 3-12 days. During the Winter months we do long term rentals of 2-6 months or more.
This is a vacation home. We love the house and the quiet location, however we understand it may not be for everyone: - The nearby beach is quiet and most suited for small children. If you are looking for glamour, activities, or night life, Virginia Beach is about 30 minutes away. - There is Wi-Fi, but it only works on the top-floor and some bedrooms. No signal on the main floor/kitchen/living room. If you need Wi-Fi for work, there is a workspace on the top floor, or you may bring your own hotspot (cell coverage is very good). - There is only one TV. We are not really TV-watchers. We also come here to relax and step away from everything. We only have one TV in the playroom on the 3rd floor - kids use it from time to time when weather is not beach-friendly. The TV has an antenna for public television, no cable/streaming. There is a DVD player. You may bring your own Roku if you'd like to stream a movie.
ATTRACTIONS During the Summer weekends, a nearby beachfront park in Ocean View hosts evening concerts and events with free access and picnics on the grass. Virginia Beach is just 30 minutes away if you'd like the glamour and frenzy of a large sandy beach with crowds, restaurants, activities, and ocean waves. It's an easy drive to get there and come back in the evening. Downtown Norfolk @ Waterfront is a vibrant area with restaurants, shops, concerts on the riverfront. In the Summer months there is the occasional visit of a cruise ship, or an antique galleon from far away. A few local museums in the area offer rare jewels like a 2nd WW battleship (downtown Norfolk), the civil war-era battleship Monitor (Hamptons), the Mercury, Apollo, and Orion space capsules (Hampton's air and space museum). An attraction not-to-miss is the Oceanview Pier, the longest pier in eastern US. It has a restaurant in the middle of the pier, with outdoor seating on the top terrace. You can literally have dinner at sunset in the middle of the bay! The pier is just one mile west from the house. Norfolk Outlets opened just a few years ago.

Valerio & Deb purchased this house as a Summer vacation spot to spend weekends with the kids. We love the water and water activities, and there is plenty to do around here. Valerio loves sailing, kayaking, and scuba diving. He's been sailing since he was 14, kayaking since he was 13, and has a 3rd level scuba diving license. He's originally from Italy but has lived in the States since 2004.
Why they chose this property
Quiet, close to the beach, and moments away from Ocean View (can be a nice walk).
What makes this property unique
It's a spacious, sunny, and welcoming home. It's great for couples who want to retreat for a few days away from everything, and it's great for families looking for a comfortable space for them and the kids. The beach is walking distance, one block away. We used to see the beach and the water until they built the new properties right in front of us. We can still see the water from the 3rd floor. Our garage is full of toys that my kids (ages 6 to 12) leave at the house, including beach toys and kayaks. Our guests are welcome to use them at the beach. The Ocean View Pier (with a top deck restaurant) is probably the best place to visit and grab some food around here, sitting on the longest pier in Eastern US and right in the middle of the water. The Norfolk Zoo is one of the best managed zoos in the world and offers an immersive experience across several continents. The NASA Air & Space museum rivals the one in Washington DC for exhibits on the golden space age, with Mercury, Gemini, Apollo and Orion capsules in display. Hampton is where the space race got its start and were the Apollo astronauts trained for their missions. The Virginia Beach Aquarium is a must-see experience with a variety of exhibits including a shark pool. The Norfolk outlets are just 10 minutes away and offer great shopping on big name brands. The downtown Norfolk area on the riverfront has been recently renovated and offers dining, entertainment, nature, history for all ages.
