About this property
Luxury Villa featured in Architectural Digest
Enjoy Valle de Bravo from our 6000-sqft villa, Casa Cantil. My wife is the architect and we built the house as a labor of love for our own use. It has five spacious bedrooms each with its own full bathroom, cozy lounge areas, 3 fireplaces, an infinity pool with outdoor dining under a pergola, and the best view in town -- a 210-degree sweeping view of the entire area. It's full of high-end details: Sonos sound system, luxury bedding (with ironed cotton linens and goose down pillows, featherbeds, and duvets). It's more than a house rental ... think of Casa Cantil as a private boutique hotel with daily maid/turn-down service, Mexican breakfasts served with fresh fruits and freshly squeezed juices, plus exquisite four-course gourmet comidas with ingredients from the farmers' market. Our guests all rave about the food and hospitality (see our reviews). In 10 minutes you can walk down the hill to Valle's Zocalo, shops, and restaurants. Although Valle offers lots of attractions, most guests rarely leave the property. They just relax, enjoy the view, and get spoiled by our attentive staff. Hablamos español.
Valle de Bravo -- Eco-Tourism Capital of Mexico: Valle de Bravo is known for its outdoor activities: paragliding, mountain biking, hiking, sailing, horseback riding, motocross, golf, and water-skiing. Right behind Casa Cantil is Monte Alto, a nature preserve with some superb running trails. In town you can rent mountain bikes (with or without a guide), motorboats and sailboats on the lake, and horses and ATVs. From November to March, 300 million monarch butterflies converge in the nearby sanctuary (in fact, the air is so thick with butterflies that a park ranger is stationed at the outskirts of town to slow traffic). We have a pool that can be heated for a fee. There is a colorful open-air market with fresh produce every day and an artisan market. In the summer dramatic thunderstorms sweep in across the lake in the late afternoon. The weather is comfortable and warm year-round. You can lie out in the sun and swim in the pool year-around, and yet it is cool at night, ideal for lighting fires and sleeping.
Valle de Bravo -- a paragliding Mecca: Valle de Bravo is world-famous among paragliders and hangliders for its thermals and spectacular views (Valle hosted the FAI Paragliding World Championships). You do not need any experience to enjoy this sport as they can send you out on a piloted tandem jump with a professional instructor for about US$100. There are several golf clubs: Club de Golf Avandaro, Rancho Avandaro, Izar, and El Santuario Golf and Spa Resort. Valle hosts music and art festivals and sporting competitions throughout the year which draw local and international visitors.
Getting to Valle de Bravo: You don't need a car to visit Casa Cantil, especially since we are walking distance to everything in town. Important! Be sure to check with us before driving to the house to avoid taking the wrong route which could be dangerous (one driving app sent a guest on a route that was not suitable for cars!). We are working with the app company to resolve the issue.
Valle itself is a 2 hour drive west from Mexico City (MEX). Some of our guests like to combine a trip to Valle with a guided sightseeing tour of Mexico City and the Teotihuacan pyramids. San Miguel de Allende is a four-hour drive.

Beautiful family home, great service, inspiring view
We were in town for a wedding and decided to stay for 4 days once we saw the photos and description of Casa Cantil. We were not disappointed. The house is beautifully designed, and no comfort or detail has been overlooked. Imagine staying at the posh home of some impossibly glamorous friends. The staff is discrete yet friendly and go out of their way to make you feel comfortable and at ease. Ciro and Isidora took care of us and made sure everything was clean and ordered, seemingly all the time. Doña Cuca, the cook, pampered us with outstanding meals, so much so that we did not want to eat out. The view of the lake from the bedrooms and especially from the terrace is breathtaking. The combination of colors – blues, greens and the brightness of the flowers with the town and the lake spread out below is memorable. Having drinks on the terrace at sunset is not to be missed, it must be the best view in Valle de Bravo! Finally, Mariana, the owner, is quick to respond and helped us to organize several extra local services such as a driver and a hairdresser plus makeup artist. Without question, we would return the next time we stay in the area.
This is a gorgeous house and the staff were all super friendly and helpful! One bit of warning is that it is on the top of a narrow hill and a little difficult to get to, but once you get there, it is worth it!
Amazing property: beautiful house, magnificent view, delicious food and excellent service. We were a group of 14; had a fabulous time, complete relaxation, and were serviced by an incredible staff. One of those vacations you will never forget.
We were in Valle de Bravo for a wedding. Isidora and Ciro made us so welcome and went out of their way to help us with everything we needed , including an amazing pre wedding supper. Thank you so much for making our stay so enjoyable.

This is an extraordinary property with stunning views. We were so impressed with the amenities and wonderful staff. The home cooked meals were so delicious and convenient, complete with beautiful table decorations everyday. The home is maintained to perfection and we felt welcome and comfortable from the minute we arrived through the end of our stay. We recommend this home in the highest regard!

Our weekend in Valle at Casa Cantil
We went as a group of 5 couples to Casa Cantil during February 2010 and absolutely had a wonderful time. The house is beautiful and we were all very comfortably separated in one of 5 private rooms all with their own bathroom. We enjoyed eating at the house and i highly recommend using this option as their staff is very attentive and the meals were very very good. We enjoyed a wood burning fireplace every night as there are a total of 3 in the house and the view out of the living room and outside terrace and garden did not fail to impress every day of our stay. We will for sure repeat as guests of Casa Cantil in the future and if anybody is thinking of choosing this location you will not be dissapointed. We also were very pleased with the owners who attended our every need.

About the host
Hosted by Mariana
We're a family the divides our time between Mexico and New York.
Why they chose this property
We built the property ourselves in 2006. Prior to that, the land was the town's unofficial lookout point as locals came to sit on the wall and admire the panoramic views and dazzling sunsets.
What makes this property unique
Most vacation rentals feel like rentals, with cheap furniture, uncomfortable beds, and mediocre installations. Since we furnished the house for our own use, we invested in high-end amenities like a Sonos sound system, Bose home theater, and extremely comfortable beds with real down featherbeds, duvets, and pillows. Our full-time staff also keep the house immaculate, to an even higher standard of hygiene than a luxury hotel and certainly higher than a typical house rental. (How many villas sterilize their sheets between visitors?). We appreciate these details for ourselves and we're sure you will, too.
