About this property
I'm sorry but this home is no longer available to rent.
"HappyNest at the lake" is closed.
With a view of beautiful Lake Lure and easy lake access, this stunning home is just a 3 minute stroll down the hill to a cove that is private to our small neighborhood.
Less than 10 minutes away are Chimney Rock State Park, the Lake Lure Marina and Beach, the Lake Lure Flowering Bridge, the Rocky Broad River, restaurants, shops and other popular attractions. Guests frequently comment on our excellent location.
This three-story house has a very functional layout with bedrooms and baths on each floor. You can drive up to the first level, as well as up and around to the second (main) level. Thus, making it especially nice if stairs are an issue.
We’ve included a fun corn hole game, and 2 paddleboards down at the cove!
One of our favorite spots is the front porch, which we have furnished for dining and socializing where you can take in the views of Lake Lure and the surrounding mountains. Enjoy an early morning sunrise with fresh ground coffee on the porch or cook steaks on the gas grill with the fire pit going and the lake shimmering at dusk. Preparing a meal inside is also a dream with the thoughtfully equipped cook’s kitchen!
And be sure to check us out on Instagram!
We love life at Lake Lure in our "HappyNest" and are excited for you to be a part of it too!
This home is located in a mountainous area, and we have occasional power outages. Also, while we provide the best Wi-Fi that is available in our area, the internet can sometimes be slow if multiple devices are logged on at once. This is true for most homes located in the Lake Lure/Chimney Rock area. We cannot be held responsible for possible electrical power outages, or if the internet is not working or is too slow, as these are circumstances beyond our control, and no refunds will be given.
While we rarely have heavy snows, if you are coming to the mountains in winter or early spring, you must be prepared for the possibility of some ice and/or snow.
PLEASE NOTE: Lake Lure will be undergoing a drawdown starting Jan 1, 2025 through March 15, 2025. The lake will begin to be lowered by approximately 1 foot per day on Jan 1, 2025 until 20 feet has been reached. Infrastructure maintenance, dredging and dock work will be expedited during this time frame. These efforts by the Town of Lake Lure may affect access to the lake and restrict any lake usage during this time frame. Refilling of the lake will begin on March 16, and will depend upon rainfall. During the drawdown, visitors will still be able to enjoy hiking, zip lining, gem mining, fishing in the Rocky Broad River, dining, shopping, and the beautiful mountain views that surround Lake Lure.

We stayed in this beautiful home for a small family reunion in early October. The house is perfect! The hosts are very thoughtful and the amenities were well appointed to make us very comfortable during our stay.
It was not quite peak season for leaves but autumn was definitely in the air.
The area is beautiful! We hope to return!

Beautiful inside and out & exactly as it appears in the photos, this house is by far the nicest rental home we have ever stayed in. Heather and Sharon thought of everything and then some :) they went above and beyond to make sure our stay was wonderful. Soft beds, fantastic location, beautiful lake views & tons of fun extras make this an ideal getaway, especially if you like to spend some of your vacation time relaxing and cooking at home. We would rent again in a heartbeat!

We were lucky enough to book a week stay at this spot for a family getaway. The house was perfect - clean, gorgeous views, comfortable beds, all the amenities we could have hoped for (with a few bonuses), and a great location. Heather was very prompt at returning all of our messages and provided for all of our requests. I truly can't say enough about how great this spot is. We're already looking forward to our next visit and are grateful for the magical week we had.

This was our first visit to Lake Lure, and HappyNest was the perfect house to enjoy it. The house is amazing! It is beautifully decorated, very clean, and has a great view of the lake. In fact, we spent most of the weekend at the house. We cooked, played pool in the basement, and sat by the fire pit on the deck. I highly recommend this house to anyone planning a trip to Lake Lure!
It had everything we needed and so much more. Great for kids. Had kids' room with lanyard making materials. Fire pit and deck were great. Plenty to do with rainy weather. Pool table + corn hole! One of best we've stayed at. Management was excellent. Quick response to questions. Would stay again.

This home is amazing! We were staying at Lake Lure for my daughters wedding. The house is spacious and very nicely decorated. Kitchen is fully stocked with with plenty of utensils and dishware for a large group. All light switches are labeled which was a great help. Porch has great seating, fire pit and beautiful views of the lake. The home is located just short drive from restaurants and local shops. Our family was very impressed with this home and would highly recommend!

This house is a special place for friends and family to stay while visiting the beautiful Lake Lure/Chimney Rock area.
The large great room and dining area are perfect with lots of light coming in through the large windows. We spent lots of hours on the large deck and took in the view of the lake.
This space is spread out enough that it also offers individual privacy as well.
The hosts were readily available with answers to all our questions. They could not have been more helpful.
If we visit this area again, this will be our “go to” place.
I would have given this a 5 star, but there was construction at the house next door for one day of our stay and quite noisy. Also couldn't not get firepit to stay lit. It would come on for a few seconds then die out.

Hi Jason, Thank you for your review. I'm sorry the construction next door disturbed your stay. Unfortunately, that is circumstances beyond our control. I'm glad it only lasted one day!
And I apologize for the firepit not working properly. I do wish you had contacted us as we would have been happy to take care of that problem. We have checked on it and it is working properly now so I'm not quite sure what was going on with it during your stay.
But I do apologize as we want all our guests to enjoy all the amenities at HappyNest and want everything to work properly during their stay.
Best wishes to you and your family,
Sharon
Beautiful mountain escape with with thoughtful details
We loved our stay at the happy nest! The house was clean, comfortable and had many small details that made our overall stay nice. The bedrooms were equipped with small bins for unpacking and had plentiful hangers. The cabinets were stocked with great cookware, utensils and even beautiful pottery mugs for coffee on the porch. This house has everything you need for a comfortable stay. We were so thrilled with the kitchen amenities...it’s so nice to stay somewhere and to have great cookware! The house was clean and overall a super lovely experience. Highly recommend. The view is even better than the photos in the listing!

We loved this house! Our group included 4 couples who are great friends so this house was the perfect configuration! Everything you needed was there! So nice to have great dining necessities! We loved our dishes, glassware & all the cooking supplies. So nice to rent a home that was so well equipped! The bedding was beyond phenomenal! We had perfect early fall weather so we were able to take advantage of the fire pit, grill and the corn hole game! Our group all rated this home a 5 star +++++! We will be back! We had a great time at this beautiful property! It was nicely equipped, modern pretty decor, and very clean. There were 8 of us and everyone said they just wanted to stay! It was also Thanksgiving and the kitchen had everything we needed. We enjoyed the fire pit, pool table, lanyard station, and especially the paddleboards at the cove. My grandson liked the cabinet with some toys and games. My husband and I stayed in the lower level and really appreciated the fairy light banner along the hallway. It helped light the way in the middle of the night. And, the neighborhood was very nice. Made for great walks. It was close to restaurants and Chimney Rock. And, last but not least, Heather and Sharon also responded quickly with any questions we had along the way. Super nice to work with. We hope to be back soon!

Thank you so much for the wonderful review of HappyNest at the Lake. We're delighted you enjoyed your stay. You were a very special guest and are welcome back any time.
There are not enough words to describe how much we loved this property! We had fallen in love with Lake Lure when we went earlier this year with family, and decided to return to celebrate our son's 5th birthday with a close circle of family. We felt very comfortable with the cleaning procedures and the house was immaculately clean. There were so many small touches that made all the difference- wine and coffee for us when we arrived, extra towels for the lake, sweet lights with a place to leave a note about your memories made, an awesome game/movie room that made it PERFECT for the kiddos, access to cove for them to simply play and enjoy the little things in life. For the adults, the way the home was laid out made it lovely to enjoy, and so nice to be able to be together, but also have our own space. The view was amazing- I don't think the pictures do it justice, and the outdoor entertaining space on the deck was something we enjoyed from morning coffee, to a night cap glass of wine. There are such a variety of activities for the kids and adults to do- from gem mining, to the cove, to the lake lure beach (when not crowded), to chimney rock, to simply enjoying this beautiful home. We are hoping to make this an annual trip for our family! Truly a wonderful escape, and it's clear how much the owners care for this home, and how well taken care of it is. Such a joy for us and so many wonderful memories made! The property manager was excellent to work with, and easily accessible.

It's hard to write a review when everything is as wonderful as this cabin! From the moment we opened the door and tried to take it all in, till the time we had to regrettably leave, every aspect was perfect. It's obvious that the owners really care about making this home comfortable, luxurious, fun, spacious clean and well cared for. The kitchen is very well stocked (and we cooked alot), the beds and linens were extremely comfortable, the outdoor seating was comfortable but not overcrowded and of course, the game room was a big hit. We have had a large vacation rental of our own and can appreciate the effort and expense to keep a large house as high-caliber as the "Happy Nest". We always book a different cabin in the mountains every year for Christmas and our adult grown kids asked if we could come back to this one next year. That's the first time they asked to return to a particular cabin - for us that says it all but for anyone looking for a great place to stay, you'll be so glad you chose the Happy Nest! Thank you to the owners. Sharon & Heather and entire team that makes this place such a wonderful experience!
The property absolutely beautiful. It was equipped with everything you need for a perfect lakeside vacation. Super clean and the beds were amazing. We all had a great nights sleep every night. We will definitely be staying here again.
We had such an Amazing stay .... The home was perfect... Had everythinge we needed for a comfortable stay with Family... Loved hanging at the Cove in neighborhood and lounging on beautiful patio in the evening with breath taking views of the Lake... We will definitely be back!!!!

About the host
Hosted by Heather Curtis
Why they chose this property
We bought our Lake Lure home because we fell in love with this area. Our home is located in a lovely, quiet neighborhood close to area attractions, but slightly off the beaten path. We love the "A" frame architecture, the large deck, the very functional layout of the house, the drive up to the main floor, and the tall beautiful trees surrounding the property. We were especially impressed that it had far more parking than most homes here.
We love the spacious, light and airy feeling on the main level with views of the lake and mountains. We named our home "HappyNest" because it feels like a "tree house" with views of lush greenery out the bedroom windows.
What makes this property unique
We also love having access to a cove that is private to our neighborhood. We've included 2 paddle boards and oars for our guests to use.
