Perfect spot!

Our group of 5 was in town for the Monterey Bag Half Marathon and had a fantastic time. Plenty of space to stretch out, fully equipped kitchen that we made a lot of meals in, walking distance to so many restaurants and attractions, and the hot tub was perfect for after-run recovery. The owners and property manager made our stay completely easy - they were warm and accommodating. We can’t wait to come back!

Beauty by the sea

Our family of 12 enjoyed Thanksgiving in this beautiful home. Very comfortable for all of us ages 1-90. We especially enjoyed the hot tub and fire pit in the evenings. An easy walk to the beach and local shops and restaurants. We highly recommended this home.

We found the house to be perfect for our family reunion.

The house is larger than it looks from the street. With the backyard, front porch, backyard, upstairs living area, no one ever felt cramped. Children loved the hot tub.

This is the perfect house for a reunion!

This house offered lots of space, comfortable beds, a large well-equipped kitchen, and a lovely backyard with a hot tub and fire pit. Our group had the best time sitting around the kitchen table, talking, laughing, and eating. The location was great, too, with the downtown area plus Monterey and Carmel close by. Can't wait to come here again! Joyce P.

Unbelievable Home VRBO was a simple process.

The Loorman Mansion was exquisite! We walked a couple of blocks to the shops and restaurants in downtown PG and then another 3 blocks to Lovers Point and experienced the Seals birthing and Whale migration. What a week of experiences that will last a lifetime.

It is large and spacious with lots of areas to group. We loed the kitchen table and gathered there d

Comfortable beds. Lots of towels. Well stocked with dishes and cooking utensils. Good heating. Great upstairs TV room for gathering. Only difficulty was one bathroom upstairs for 4 bedrooms and 8 people. A second bath downstairs helped. Great location for walking to Pacific Grove

What a perfect place for a family reunion!

What a lovely home- full of conversation areas, plenty of room for our growing family. We came with our children and grandchildren - 17 total (and 1 on the way). All of our children expressed a desire to return because it was 'perfect'. Highlights: spa, enclosed back yard, 2 different living areas, big eat in kitchen that was well equipped. Mary was a very gracious host and got back to us right away about a very minor issue. The weather also cooperated and we had a perfect family reunion! I wholeheartedly recommend this home!

Amazing weekend at an amazing house!

Several of my friends and I stayed in this house for our high school reunion and it was fantastic! The house is large and charming, with a beautiful backyard that is perfect for get togethers--we spent hours with friends around the fire pit catching up, it was amazing! The house is in a perfect location in the Monterey Bay area--with Carmel, the Aquarium, and Pebble Beach all easily accessible. Pacific Grove itself is very charming and you can easily walk into town from the house. You can also walk down to Lover's Point and walk right along the bay. I hope to have my own family reunion here at some point---it would be perfect for both the adults and kids!! Thanks so much for allowing us to stay in your wonderful home!!!

Wonderful location and space!

I just returned from 3 nights in this lovely home. We had a family reunion for 10 adult, women cousins and it was wonderful! We fully enjoyed the backyard hot tub, deck, and firepit area. The kitchen was the hub of great conversations over coffee and we had some group meals with wine and storytelling over the dining room table and in the front living room. The bedrooms were perfect for the 10 of us! It felt like we were gathering at our own grandmother's home. It was delightful! I highly recommend this home for gatherings. The location is very central to all we wanted to see in Monterey, yet on a quiet, tucked away street. Thank you for a wonderful accommodation!

Wonderful roomy accommodations with lots of amenities and character in a great location

Our family spent Labor Day weekend at the Looram home for our nephew's wedding in Monterey. The house provided plenty of room for the 12 of us, including 4 grandchildren ages 4 and under. The common space upstairs was a great place for the kids to play and watch TV and still have the downstairs for adults to gather. We appreciated the well-appointed kitchen and the backyard with hot tub and fire pit really added a special dimension to our time together. The house seems particularly suited to family gatherings and being able to walk to coffee and breakfast, and even to the beach at Lover's Point were real bonuses. Mary was very welcoming and timely in her emails to us ahead of time and the greeter provided all the information we needed to make the best use of the house and the area.

Great historic home with modern amenities!

Rented this house for a family gathering and it worked perfectly for our needs! We had 9 adults staying in the home over a weekend and we were very happy with our stay. Even before we arrived at the house, the home owner and property manager were very friendly and easy to coordinate with. For us, renting a house like this is much better than staying at a hotel because of the big common areas for us to hang out in, nice kitchen with gas stove for us to cook a family meal, and fun fire pit in the backyard to relax during late summer nights. Another huge plus is the WiFi at the house. Besides the actual house, the location is great. Lots of cute bakeries and shops nearby, in addition to the convenience of local supermarkets. Easy access to Carmel, Big Sur and Monterey. Wish we had stayed for more than a weekend. Would definitely stay here again!

Church Staff Retreat

Our team of 5 couples had a wonderful and relaxing time in this spacious Victorian home. All of the necessary amenities were available. The 'family atmosphere' of the home added to our comfort. The kitchen worked well for us to share the responsibilities and the living room was warm and inviting, We loved the open fire pit on the back deck...a great place to have good chats. The location of the home is within walking distance to downtown Pacific Grove and to the ocean. For some folks, the inconsistent internet connection might be a challenge, but we chose to "unplug" for our time of rest and refreshing. I highly recommend this home.

Roomy and comfortable home away from home

This was our third stay at the "Big Yellow House" on Willow. We annually visit the Monterey area to attend the auto races at Laguna Seca Raceway and typically have a large group. When we found this house it became our place to stay due to its large number of rooms, modern amenities, and 19th century charm. There were 8 adult males and a four year old in our group this year. Everyone had been here before, at least once, and said it felt so comfortable and familiar... like a home away from home. We walked to Lovers Point beach and went to the races . Otherwise, everyone just wanted to hang out at the house, enjoying video games in the game room, soaking in the hot tub, grilling on the patio, and sitting around the fire pit.

Wonderful, comfortable place for family gathering

Thank you so much for letting us celebrate my mom's 80th birthday at your home. It easily accommodated the nine of us that stayed there. We prepared all our meals and especially loved the long dining room table for meals and playing games! The weather was perfect , just chilly enough in the evenings to enjoy sitting around the fire pit in the back yard. Thank you for the lovely flowers you left on the kitchen table and we definitely took advantage of the free passes to the Monterey Aquarium. The hot tub felt wonderful in the evening before bedtime,, relaxing with a glass of wine. Everyone was very impressed with your historic Victorian home and we all felt very comfortable throughout the house. Plenty of space to either hang out in a large group,, or find a quiet nook by oneself for some alone time. Thanks again.

Most glitch free vacation rental yet

Our family has rented vacation homes nine times and really appreciate that people are willing to share their homes with renters. This time we were concerned that our brief stay (3 nights) would prevent us from getting the most out of the home since we have usually experienced a "learning Period" during which we figure out logistics. But at this place we were greeted on our arrival by a lovely lady who walked us through the house and gave us all the information and ideas that we usually have to figure out for ourselves. We were also walked through on our departure so there was no question about how we treated and left the home. And the home was ideal for our group of 8 adults and 5 children ranging in age from one to nine years old. It was spacious and perfectly located for seeing the Monterey attractions and waterfront. Our only disappointment was not having more time there. We would certainly return to this home.

Unique and charming

Staying in Mary's place was like staying at your grandmother's house -- but even better! The house is so cute and quaint. It is truly a special place as this is where they raised their family. Seeing remnants of them raising children here -- like the height measurements on the door frame inside the pantry, and the photos of their family -- made us realize that we were in a very special place. All 9 of us enjoyed breakfast around the big round table in the kitchen every morning. We enjoyed sitting in the front room, and watching movies upstairs. The fresh cut flowers on the table just made things even more beautiful. There are some quirks with the house like waiting for the hot water before showering -- but it was built in 1896 -- so what do you expect? We never felt like we were sacrificing. It was truly a wonderful stay! If you want a very memorable vacation in a unique and charming home -- then look no further. Also we loved walking to Lovers Point, the Grove Market, and Pavel's Bakery (amazing pastries!!!) You really can't beat the location.

My husband and I purchased this home when he was stationed at Ft. Ord. We have 5 children and needed a big home. It was a wonderful place to bring up our family. Now they live all over the world. We need to be in New York but we gather together from time to time at Willow Street. Our family has grown to 20 with 9 grandchildren.

Why they chose this property

What makes this property unique

We love the Victorian bones of our home with high ceilings and stained glass windows. It is a bright, cheery ,comfortable home perfect for families getting together to celebrate birthdays, anniversaries, etc.

We enjoy the backyard because of it's privacy using the hot tub and fire pit. A great place to hang out at the end of the day.
