Thank you for staying with Hummingbird Cabins. We are very happy to hear you enjoyed your stay. We hope to see you again! :)
We enjoyed staying at this house. It’s a beautiful property. There were a couple of cleanliness issues like dog hair on the sheets (luckily were dog people), dirty dishes (which we just rewashed) and mouse droppings in some cupboards but the house is located in the mountains, there’s bound to be critters that pop up. Seeing elk and deer day was such a treat and we would most definitely book here again.

Beautiful location but...
This house is located in a beautiful location! There was plenty of room for all of us, and the hot tub was a major plus! Our only issue was not knowing how to work the pellet stove fireplace. I would suggest having detailed instructions for guests. Also, the WIFI never worked for us.
The property was really pretty we saw a lot of wildlife!! Some things in the home could definitely be updated. The trash had to be hauled quite a ways to dump. There was a firepit advertised in the pictures but was not available for you which was frustrating. All and all it was good plave to stay!

Dirty
The kitchen was dirty with a lot of mouse poop and the stove oven doesn't work.
This place is nice but needs some work... hot tub lights need replaced, very little amenities, 3 of the bedrooms have no tv's, 2 of the bedrooms on the middle level get very hot compared to the rest of the middle level, ping-pong table balls were broken, lamp next to couch had bare wires sticking out where it was plugs into the socket and our kid got shocked by it, some things need to be updated, internet wouldn't work the entire time, a lot of things we had to clean prior to using it, windows were filmed over with mineral deposits, pellet stove wouldn't ignite, it was hard to find a place along the road to throw our trash, weird smell next to bathroom in bedroom downstairs, and the pillows were slim to none. The pros: wildlife, the 3rd floor was very private and secluded, kitchen was updated, the fire pit next to the hot-tub, heaters worked great, fireplace in master bedroom, and multiple bathrooms. For the price, we probably wouldn't stay here again.
As you can see from the pictures and information, this is a large cabin. The master bathroom looked odd in the pictures, and I can confirm that there is no door leading into the master bathroom from the master bedroom. Someone lying on the bed has a full view of everything going on in the bathroom. Additionally, the master shower has a window with no tint or blinds looking out over the rear deck. This deck has ground access from the spiral staircase. Someone walking up the stairs outside has an unobstructed view into the master shower.
Overall, the house was excellent. Plenty of room for our family of 7. With a little communication, the lack of privacy in the bathroom is manageable. Plan for this and you will enjoy this cabin.

Beautiful place but several things need to be fixed!
There were several items that should have been fixed before we arrived. There was trash left in the trash compactor, fridge was dirty, master tub plug could not be taken off without a knife, grill did not work, no ping pong balls for table and one of the paddles was broken(we bought and left new ones) I was really mad about this because I called ahead of time to ask if we needed to bring our own, pillows were extremely old and flat. Overall it’s a beautiful cabin but these simple/cheap things need to be addressed, especially since we are charged such a high fee for cleaning. Also, the guest being responsible for taking all trash to public dump and put all dishes back after cleaning is ridiculous, isn’t that why you pay these cleaning fees? I truly think this place could be magical and hope to see these simple improvements made. Otherwise I would have given it a top rating.

Hello Tanya!
Thank you for the feedback. According to our notes, you were refunded money due to the many complaints that you had and we tried to make things right upon you asking about them. Our policies are on the website and on the VRBO listing that can be read before booking regarding the trash and dishes. They are also in the Guest License Agreement that you signed and returned to us prior to your arrival. These are things you could have asked about upon booking. Yes, we ask that guests take away their trash. This is normal for nightly rentals. The cleaning fee is collected to clean the home after a departure and our cleaning fees are extremely fair. We do not require guests to put the dishes away. We ask that they wash them and leave them to dry or to put them in the dishwasher and walk away. Housekeeping will take over after departure. Again, this is outlined in your Guest License Agreement. Silver Spur is one of our most unique and lovely homes. Reviews such as this are unfair in that not only did you receive money back after numerous complaints over small things that we tried to make right, you also did not call to inquire about you concerns about the trash/dishes which could have been cleared up for you.
Nice house from outside but updating need everywhere
Trash is an issue you are told to find a container to dump trash but there is known near property, everyone in neighborhood rolls out portable trash cans filled with garbage on a specific day but this home expects us to search the town for a large container to dump trash that in the end is not for this property. You are expected to pay a daily cleaning charge but NEVER see anyone showing up to clean. You are asked to clean all dishes not simply fill the dishwasher and start but empty and put up before leaving. What’s the cleaning fee for?All pots and pans need a upgrade I’ve seen worse but these pans are many years old! House has a pellet fireplace in the living room unfortunately there were no pellets to start the first day ,on second day someone showed up with pellets but admitted he had no clue on how to work one of these.Fortunately I was able to figure out but I can guarantee not for everyone does not have the look of a real fireplace.

Hello Andreas!
Thank you for your feedback. Within the guest book inside the home, it tells you where exactly to take your trash on departure (with the address of the facility) or where they are located in the village of Ruidoso. All tan dumpsters are for public use. We would have gladly assisted with questions had you given us a call. The cleaning fee is a one time clean fee ONLY, we do not offer daily cleaning, which is also outlined in all policies and procedures sent prior to your stay. We don't ask that guests put the dishes away, just that they start the dishwasher if the home has one. We know time is of essence and wouldn't want guests sticking around for the dishwasher to finish up. Yes, there is a pellet stove located in the living room and to start the fireplace, there is a switch on the wall. Guests prior to you must have used all the pellets, so we're happy to hear that maintenance did bring some out to you! We don't advertise it to have the look of a real fireplace as it's a pellet stove for warmth and ambiance. Again, thank you for your feedback!
Enjoyed spending family time at this beautiful cabin. It rained all weekend and there were small water leaks in the guest bathroom. Overall, highly recommend this cabin.
