We had an amazing time getting away from the city here! The cabin was cozy with a well equipped kitchen to keep our stay smooth. Views from the dock were lovely as well. Would recommend!
Absolutely beautiful home. It was a great way to start the New Year! So glad it was super dog friendly so we can spend time as a family. We will definitely be booking again!
The cabin was very cozy, pet friendly, clean, and you could not ask for anything more! All kinds of activities at the house no matter the weather. We enjoyed ourselves so much, we just booked again for the only week available in July 2026!
We really enjoyed our stay at this cabin. It was just the relaxing getaway we needed. They have everything you could possibly need and my kids learned how to fish! We will need to come back and visit! Thank you so much!
Two great room options, upstairs bed a bit tall for our dogs, we were too high up for their liking. Comfortable spaces to hang. Nice clean property with thoughtful touches. Would highly recommend if you’re looking for an off the beaten path stay. Thank you for sharing your home with us!!
The house was absolutely beautiful we rode our sxs’s right out of the driveway. Jim and Diane were absolute best property managers very helpful for all our needs.
We so enjoyed the cabin and hope to be back in the near future!

Thank you Brooke! So happy you had a quality stay! The open concept with a entire wall of sliding doors to highlight the view is why I decided to purchase that house in 2005. I simply feel in love with it immediately lol
James is a great host. We are repeat renters and love this property and the location.

Thank you! There's a certain type of special about this area that is hard to explain, when I was looking at places to buy 18 years ago (this is the only place I own) I fell in love instantly. It's as if any stress or pressure from the outside world can't seem to penetrate. I don't get up here enough, but when I do, I find myself having to try very very VERY hard to stay focused on the improvements to the house vs relaxing and doing absolutely nothing lol.
This cabin was peaceful and relaxing. Wildlife right outside to watch with morning coffee excellent view very cozy yet spacious, clean, well stocked, the hosts and caretaker are considerate and thoughtful. Our stay was everything that was promised and more.
What a beautiful property to stay at! Host thinks of everything, right down to the right amount of dog beds! We will definitely staying again.

I hope you do! You are welcome anytime! We try to make any getaway special for you, and we absolutely are pet friendly. Hence the dog beds lol. Unlike most hotels that are pet friendly, and other listings on these sites, we don't have any additional cost for pets nor a host fee. Never have, never will. It's just our way. Our goal is to provide great accommodations at a fair cost so you can just simply...relax. lol. We've had dogs, cats, even a bird as a guest here. So pet friendly is exactly that! Pet friendly. Now if someone wants to travel with a alligator or something like that might make me a bit nervous. Lol
The cabin was perfect for our long weekend and very tranquil and relaxing. It’s much larger than it looks in pictures and has everything you could need. We would love to come back in the summertime!
Got there after dark and hit a cell dead zone, so I lost my google maps, texted James and he called me back right away. He stayed on the phone with me until I found the cabin and was inside. So thankful…. Loved the back deck and the 4 poster bed upstairs, the bird feeds were an added delight. The cabin is so spacious and has a great lay out. Felt like home away from home and I wanted for nothing. Thank you James for being an awesome host.Jennifer G :)))

About the host
Hosted by James Caplinger
James bought the house as a retirement home. BUT he knew that retirement was a long way in the future so he outfitted it like he would like to see it and decided to rent it out so others could enjoy the beauty and peacefulness of Maine. When we met he said he would never be able to see Maine again...as he had lived there as a young man and went to school for college there. This proves him wrong!!
Why they chose this property
We looked at homes in Vermont and New Hampshire because we thought Maine was totally out of the price range. But Maine is where we both wanted to be. He found this one on his own and I got to pick between two. This one is the winner!
What makes this property unique
Quiet, quiet, quiet!! Not in a subdivision! Lake to look out at one side and woods the other. My kind of living!
