Great location near a footpath up to Todd Crag, which has a spectacular view. Sitting room was exceptionally comfortable. Kitchen had everything I needed. Beds good too. Only concern was that parking was tricky. Probably would have been fine if I had a smaller car or it was my car rather than an unfamiliar rental but I was concerned every time I had to maneuver in the tight space. However, I did consistently manage it. :) Per plan, I moved to another place for the second half of my Lake visit and found parking challenging there too.
The cottage was fine . The only problem we had was the boiler: we had to reset it every day and climb a small stair to reach it. It would-be approperiate to repay 15% from the rent.
We so enjoyed our time at the cottage. The description was accurate with the amenities. There are THREE bathrooms! It was great to have the ensuite ones for me/hubby and then the other for my mother-in-law. Yes, the driveway is not for the faint of heart, but you get used to it after a few days. About a 15-20 minute walk (stroll) into Ambleside. The weather was absolutely beautiful, so we were able to eat dinner outside on the tables provided. One suggestion we have is to replace the kitchen chairs -- they were comfortable but they're 'shedding' a bit and we kept finding pieces around the house. Perfect puzzling table in the kitchen. Great lighting. Comfortable beds. Really impressive water pressure. Thanks so much!
We had constant rain and flooding which stopped a lot of activity but the place was so comfy with great heating, showers, lovely beds, comfortable sitting room and good kitchen. A nice place to hole up and escape the weather with TV, music and games.
Cottage was lovely and clean. Some of the previous comments I’d read were accurate. The drive is a bit steep and if a few cars are in the courtyard it’s difficult to reverse. Well placed fir a 3/4 mile walk into town.
This property had everything we needed for our stay; it was well equipped and very comfy (I can’t remember the last time I slept so well, even after lots of walking and fresh air). It couldn’t have been in a better location, we hardly used our car as we were in walking distance of so many places: Watershead & Ambleside for shops and restaurants, Lakes Windermere, Rydal and Grasmere, and Loughrigg Fell for a gentle hill walk.
Would highly recommend this property and definitely hope return again.

Very comfortable and well situated cottage
Very comfortable cottage and well situated to visit the Lake District. Kitchen well equipped, cosy sitting room and very good beds. Ambleside is ideal to visit the Lake District (Brockhole visitor centre, Wray Castle, Rydall Hall, plenty of walks...). There is a steep slope to reach the house/parking but also possiblity to park the car just beneath the house. Very helpful owners.

Great 2 Bedroom in the Lake District
When booking a place we always wonder if it really looks like the pictures & Fellside definitely does! What you see is what you get. We had family visiting and found the two bedrooms with nice sized living room and eat in kitchen was perfect. Plenty of space so no one felt crowded.
It's about a mile from Ambleside, a perfect central destination in the Lake District and Windermere with it's larger stores is only 15 minutes down the road.

Nice Cottage. Although the way up the drive is a bit tricky.
Equipment of kitchen is a bit short, and some items incomplete or worn.

Great property in superb location
we stayed for a week over Christmas. Cottage is very well appointed, TV's in every room, 2 ensuite bathrooms and 1 shared toilet. The owners had taken the trouble to put up a Christmas tree plus other decorations. Only a 15 minute walk to town along footpaths. Parking is a bit tight but not a big problem, we had 2 cars.
Access to hill walks with great views within yards of the property.
We really enjoyed our stay

Excellent cottage, lovely place to stay, highly recommend
The cottage is lovely. Very spacious, clean and reasonably well equipped. A great location although the drive is very steep. A warm welcome from the owners. We had a lovely holiday.

Fantastic!
Very pleased with our accomodation! In a private area that over looks the countryside and lake. A well finished property that is extremely comfortable and thought through. Beds are amazing- slept very well during stay. Make use of the top private garden and one below beside small lake. Quiet and enchanted! 1 thing I would bear in mind for again would be that the drive way leading up to property is very steep with a tight turn into parking.. possibly not suitable for very large SUVs. However our long estate car did just fine!

The house was very good
Overall the house was very good - but it was not overly well equipped in the kitchen - for example there was no means of making coffee - we had to go out and buy a cafetiere. There were a couple of other issues - the pump on the heating system was very noisy, sufficiently so to wake lighter sleepers at night. Also the Velux skylights gave excellent light during the daytime but those in the bedrooms flooded the room with light at 4am, again waking lighter sleepers - they need to be fitted with blinds. Finally, there was confusion about the time the house was available - the final details (which including address, key Code etc) sent to us via the iPhone app said 2pm. We arrived at this time to find the house had not been cleaned - cleaners did not arrive until 3pm. We called the owners who told us that arrival time used to be 2pm but is now 4pm. This needs to be corrected in the documentation provided to your clients.
Other than the above, we found the house to be very good - the beds were particularly comfortable.

Homely, idylic and perfectly located
The place felt like home imediately. We shared some beautiful moments and thaks to the wife, some beautiful home cooked meals. The showers were first class, just what was needed after a day of exploring. The property waa in excelent condition and the owners were easy to het along with and always abailable to help and advise. A big thank you to the owners and to the lakes for a break that was memorable for all the right reasons.

Clean spacious and very comfortable, a real home from home
Four of us spent 5 days in the cottage and on arrival were immediately impressed with the standard of furnishings and the modern open feel and look of the accommodation. All the rooms were of a good size and were very comfortable. Two days confined to the cottage because of heavy rain did nothing to impair our feeling of comfort and relaxation. A minor problem with the plumbing was resolved satisfactorily with Keith making arrangements for a plumber to call the same day. The property was well placed for a short walk into Ambleside and For exploring other parts of the Lake District. We would definitely stay again and will recommend it to friends looking to visit the area

Modern and great location
This cottage is ideally situated to walk into Ambleside and to visit the attractions of the lake district. The cottage is modern with all that is required for a comfortable stay. If I had one wish it would be for a bath after a long walk, but all rooms were en suite with showers.

Such a lovely cottage : )
The cottage is lovely and we would definitely stay again. It was tastefully decorated and very homely. It had a good mix of traditional cottage style with high ceilings with beams and log burner, but lovely modern big spacious kitchen dining room. The beds were very comfy as well as the sofas. The cottage was immaculate when we arrived. The kitchen was well equipped. We made use of the slow cooker. The owners were very help too when I needed directions to get to the cottage. The location is very good. Quite central to travel to other parts of the Lake District.

About the host
Hosted by Keith and Helen Farrell
We live in a small village in Poynton Cheshire we have always loved Ambleside and the surrounding area and finally purchased Fellside that was old and was in desperate need of renovating. It is now fully renovated and is ideally situated within easy walking distance to all amenities yet still in a quiet and peaceful position.
Why they chose this property
If you enjoy a peaceful quiet location yet want also to be able stroll into the village and be amongst the many bars and restaurants this is ideal. From Fellside you can walk easily to the village and Ferry port (Lake side ) The cottage shares a court yard where you can enjoy the sunshine and the views of the Lake.
What makes this property unique
Due to its elevated position accessed by a small steep drive the views from the court yard and above the property are stunning this is one of the main reasons we bought the property. The bedroom and lounge have featured ceilings creating a pleasing cottage feeling.
