Spacious, stylish and contemporary family-friendly gite in Gavray, Normandy
Normandy Gite Holidays is a former stone and earth barn converted in August 2015 into a contemporary, well equipped and spacious holiday home. The original beams have been left exposed and contrast with the clean lines and light, airy space. The original barn doors have been replaced with a wall of glass allowing natural light to flood into the large entrance foyer. To one side of the foyer is the lounge with a door that leads out onto the patio and garden. Relax with a book from the bookshelves, watch English or French TV or simply chat to friends or family. On the opposite side of the foyer is the kitchen and dining area. The kitchen is well equipped and the dining area seats 6 people comfortably. This is a very sociable space for entertaining friends and family. A downstairs utility room with toilet, handbasin and washing machine completes the downstairs. Upstairs, a generous and relaxing master bedroom with king sized bed and ensuite shower room awaits. Two further bedrooms which can either be twins or doubles, share a tastefully decorated shower room to provide you with complete flexibility. Central heating throughout the gite and a woodburning stove in the lounge ensure it is available all year round. I blog regularly on my website about places to go and things to do in Normandy. Contact with Chris was very good, fast and clear. Everything was as promised. We where there round Christmas time, she asked us if we want a Christmas tree, answer was yes and the tree was there as also other Christmas decorations. Chris is very helpful and reachable when you need something. We had a great time and enjoyed our stay. Thank you Chris for everything and stay Safe.

Thank you for such a kind review. I know the children enjoyed the Christmas tree and decorations in the gite. It was a pleasure to welcome you here and I hope you enjoyed discovering a little more of Normandy during your stay.
We stayed for a week and used the house as a base for our house hunting trip. Chris, the owner was at hand to see to our needs. She's a very pleasant and helpful woman. The house itself is very spacious , yet warm and cosy. It's also very well equipped. The location of the property is brilliant and there's so much to do either on the doorstep or within a 90 minute drive. We wouldn't hesistate to recommend it.

Many thanks for you very kind review. I’m pleased you enjoyed your stay in the gite and that your house hunting was successful. I’m sure you’ll enjoy exploring more of Normandy when you’re settled in your new home. Bon courage!
This was a lovely place to stay over the christmas period as a family. The property is obviously well thought about and cared for by the owner, and has undergone a beautiful refurbishment whist retaining lovely original features of the barn. The facilities throughout the property were really excellent and made for a very easy stay. The front room is large and has a wonderful wood burner. The pictures of the kitchen do not do the space justice; it was really bright, spacious and comfortable- perfect for family meals with all the necessary equipment and basics. There is a great seating area out the back which we didn't use but must be great in summer. All bedrooms were of a good size and again very comfortable. We already knew the local area and it is very scenic and with easy access to many local beautiful spots. The property is within easy reach of the Normandy and Brittany coastlines. The property was spotlessly clean and Chris the property owner welcomed us and remained available via email contact. She left a welcome basket of yummy treats which was much appreciated!Thank you Chris we really had a fabulous time in your beautiful property and hope to be back!

I'm so pleased you enjoyed your stay here for your family Christmas. It's great to know that you found it comfortable, clean and well-equipped. I've tried to make it a home-from-home and a place that guests look forward to returning to after a day exploring Normandy. Thank for for all your lovely comments. It would be a pleasure to welcome you back.
This lovely gite is comfortable, light and airy which was very welcome at the end of a busy hot day. The decor in the spacious rooms is modern and fresh. The property (in particular the kitchen) is very well equipped with lots of thoughtful extras. The garden was a lovely sun trap in the evening. The owner, Chris, was very welcoming and provided lots of information about places to visit. The area surrounding the property is very quiet and peaceful. There is a main road close by but, as there is very little traffic , noise was not a problem. We would definitely stay here again and would recommend to others without hesitation.

A perfect place for a new year's break
This is one of the most beautiful properties I have ever rented in over 30 years of visiting France. It is immaculate in terms of decor, furnishings, quality of linen, and equipped for comfort and relaxation throughout. All the rooms are spacious, and the two bathrooms are wonderful - very modern with powerful showers. The kitchen/diner is huge, with a large table, and we ended up spending lots of time in there, cooking, eating and chatting. The living room is cosy and again, very comfortable, and we loved having the wood burner on in the evenings. Chris is a fantastically well-organised host, who makes sure that you have a lot of useful information in advance, and who is very accessible for questions and advice about the local area. The local town is sweet, and Granville on the coast is busy and buzzy. We (a couple and a family of four) were here over New Year, and it was a perfect home from home. I’d love to go back and explore the area more in better weather and a season where we could take advantage of the outdoors!

Wow! Many thanks for such a great review. I'm so pleased you enjoyed the gite. The kitchen/diner was designed to be a very sociable space and so many guests comment that they spend most of their time in there. The lounge makes the perfect retreat in the evenings. It would be a pleasure to welcome you back to Normandy when the weather is more favourable.

Fabulous stay
Looking for a great open and calming place to base yourself in Normandy? - then go here. This is a great holiday home.
I will say this is not the place to go if you want a small exposed brick open fire traditional French house, this is a modern equivalent with all mod cons which was perfect for our needs. As much as I love a traditional French house, I do love having modern facilities on hand and not having to go through the kitchen to the bathroom and I’ve always disliked curtains instead of cupboards in the kitchen so this place was perfect.
The pictures don’t do this place justice, it is open, spacious, relaxing. I went with my husband and a friend of ours, there was probably too much space for us just being 3 but that was great, we weren’t on top of each other at all and could each have alone time if wanted.
We arrived from the ferry in December to an amazing welcome basket of provisions which were most welcome. Being able to quickly whip up some eggs and brioche for a snack instead of having to go straight to a food shop was fantastic. The produce in the basket was high quality. There was a nice bottle of Normandie cider in the fridge and an extra wee bottle of bubbles since we were staying for Christmas.
The house is very well equipped, most notably in the kitchen. We were determined to streamline packing this year staying for Christmas as we had taken most of our own equipment before staying elsewhere. There was no need to bring anything here, the kitchen had everything we needed, even for doing a full Christmas dinner with goose and all the trimmings (albeit with a poorly husband doing all the cooking).
I loved the entrance, huge glass panels and the area full of light as you enter the house. This creates the sense of space immediately and I have always been a fan of a balcony area which is the landing between bedrooms.
The bathrooms (1 ensuite, 1 family and an extra loo downstairs) were all good sizes with greta showers and well decorated. You can tell that everything was new only recently and is kept in good repair.
It was lovely to have a well stocked mini library in the living room which my friend worked his way through with great speed.
Overall, this is a great place to spend time or use as a base for exploring. The owner has compiled a great resource pack of places to visit and things to do if you are lost for ideas. The owner has done an amazing job with this place and I can’t recommend it highly enough.

Many thanks for such a great review! I really appreciate you taking the time to give such comprehensive feedback. It has been a labour of love to renovate the gite but the challenges were worth it when guests comment on the finished result. If you would like to explore more of Normandy, it would be a pleasure to welcome you back.

Quality holiday home in a beautiful French country villiage
Our stay was great and Chris was a huge help. This was the first family holiday we had been on in around 10 years and everyone thoroughly enjoyed it. I am used to being on holidays where I get up and do things and it given this was an area i wasnt familiar with I was hesitant at first about what I would do. Upon arriving though the Gite was full of brochures and maps telling us of all the locations! We actually used one of the maps and just drove around the area with only this map. Chris was also a great help in telling us what to do. Seeing Saint Michel is a must as well as all the little villages surrounding the area.
Overall it was a great experience and I would definitely recommend the gite to my friends thinking of visiting the area. Great holiday home.

Thank you very much for your review. It was a pleasure to welcome you and your family to La Manche region of Normandy. I'm pleased that you found the brochures and my recommendations useful. There is so much to see and do in the area and I know that you'd have liked to have seen more. However, you certainly packed a lot into your stay. I hope you've got lots of happy memories of your family time in Normandy.
