The Hillside Home, the perfect choice for your stay in Platanias!

Enjoy your holidays with a breathtaking panoramic view, feel and live in the cozy decoration of The Hillside Home. This holiday house is situated at the top of the cliff in the old village of Platanias. The house is owned by the Mathioulakis family who owns the traditional bakery of the village which has been passed down from generation to generation. The family serves you freshly baked products every day at your doorstep. And of course, a surprise welcome gift to all guests.

The house consists of a large fully equipped kitchen with a separate dining area, a bathroom with a shower cabin, a toilet and a washing machine, a guest room which can accommodate up to 2 persons and a spacious balcony where you can enjoy the lovely sunrise as well as the sunset.

Facilities: TV, Wi-Fi internet access, refrigerator, coffee machine, toaster, kettle, washing machine, electrical oven, fully equipped kitchen.
Capacity: 2 persons
Parking is available close to the house.

Platanias, which is the most famous, popular and cosmopolitan village in the western part of Crete, is located 12 km west of Chania and 18 km west from Chania airport.

Interaction with Guests:

The owner Mrs. Agapi or your host Sofia will always meet you on your arrival to make sure you will get the best service and any kind of help you might need. We have many years of experience exploring Crete and we would be happy to recommend places you can visit.

The Neighborhood:

There are many of the old village restaurants within walking distance and further down the hill, you can visit more of Platanias fine restaurants, shops and of course the sandy beach. We recommend tavern COSMO, which is very close to the House, Mylos restaurant and Splendid night club. We have a marvelous Botanical Park and many wineries just a few kilometers drive away from Platanias.

Getting Around:

Buses
There are buses from the airport to the city center which run regularly. Once you reach the center you take the coach from the bus station to Platanias (see: Ktel/bus service Chania)
If you wish you can take the double Decker guided bus tour around the city.

Taxi
There is a taxi rank in the square of the village. . Your host Sofia can help you to arrange taxi transfer at your arrival.

Lovely apartment with amazing views

Loved this apartment, which has amazing views of the coast and sea. Agapi was a wonderful host and brought a basket of lovely pastries every day. The place was close to shops and restaurants yet quiet and peaceful.

Kleine Wohnung mit phantastischem Meerblick

Kleine, sehr gepflegte Wohnung mit phantastischem Meerblick. Wohnung liegt in der Altstadt etwa 100 m oberhalb des Hafens von Platanias. Leider liegt die Wohnung in einer nicht so gut gepflegten Umgebung. Direkt vor der Wohnung ist eine sehr staubige Baustelle. Wir wurden sehr herzlich von der Vermieterin empfangen, die uns tolle Tipps für die Insel gegeben hat. Ausserdem wurden wir jeden Morgen mit einem grossen Korb voll leckerer griechischer Backwaren verwöhnt.

Fabulous Holiday House

We have just returned from a 11 day stay at The Hillside Home. The house is comfortable and well equipped. It goes without saying the views are fab from the balcony as the photos show. The house is situated up in the old village a few minutes up the hill from the bustling resort area of Platanias. So if thats your thing its on your doorstep (and totally accessible without your own transport) However if you want peace and tranquility then the house offers this both inside and outside. The owner was responsive to any issues we had and delivered bread/pastries every day from her family bakery which were irresitable delicious treats! The only information missing from the listing is the only route up through the village and to the house is very narrow if you hire a car.Therefore we would definitely recommend a small car!
