About this property
Room A at The Dutra Inn - Little Italy
Summary:
“There’s a strange and wonderful energy on top of The Dutra. I imagine the ghosts of pirates past making their way up from San Diego Bay, and cosmic cowboys riding in from the Tijuana night. Room A is a meeting place. It’s actually where we first met.
When you look up from the street below, you can see the rows of whiskey bottles.* You might even spot Pappy Van Winkle himself winking down at you. But from Room A, you can see so much more—rooftops, skyrises, and ships. Sunsets are non-negotiable here. Nights are lively (this is not a place for light sleepers). And the days pass by the windows like sky pedestrians, as curious about Room A as you are.”
What you’ll find in Room A:
–A welcome drink on us
–The Malin + Goetz products we have at home
–Chemex and local beans from Dark Horse Coffee Roasters
–Mini stove and oven with small island dining area and living space
–Tuft & Needle bed with Parachute linens
–Large private patio on the rooftop with a sunset sightline
–$20/night parking available behind the building by request
The Space:
Three Quirks to Note:
–Room A is up five narrow flights of stairs
–Three sides of the room are all windows, so you may experience light and noise at night; as mentioned, we wouldn ’t recommend this room for light sleepers
–*Unfortunately, the whiskey is long gone; it’s just Nate’s fancy whiskey-colored concoction now
The Neighborhood:
If you’re still deciding where to stay, allow us to advocate for Little Italy. Locals like us know that Little Italy is bar and restaurant central: where to go if you want a well-made tiki drink or a fancy steak dinner in San Diego.
It’s also centrally located within the city: just a 5min drive from the airport and a 10min drive to Balboa Park, Gaslamp, North Park, Hillcrest, and beaches.
Getting Around:
The Dutra is conveniently located in the heart of San Diego’s Little Italy neighborhood. The area is extremely walkable (and bikeable) — and you’ll be just a few blocks away from the some of the best restaurants in the city & a few blocks away from the gorgeous San Diego bay front.
Other Things to Note:
The Dutra does not allow smoking or pets in room and on the patios. (Though Pet Rocks are permitted.) If you choose to break “the rules,” we charge an extra cleaning fee. One necessary point about our patios: all are private, except for the common lawn on the fourth floor. It’s the one with tiny tub, you can’t miss it.
We welcome you to have (up to 2) friends over to our place until 9pm. We love parties, but for big groups or late nights, we ask that you check with us before you arrive. Our walls are a little thin, so your tap dancing, loud seances, bongos, and even your lively conversation can carry. The same goes for photo or film shoots. Please note that, in both cases, you may be charged an extra location or event fee.
Every stay at The Dutra comes with instant new neighbors. “The rules” are just in place to make sure everyone has the best stay. We can’t wait to have you visit!
Interaction with Guests:
We want to make sure you have an incredible experience in San Diego, and we are happy to help at any time by phone or email during your stay if you need recommendations or have any questions. When you arrive, we also have a full welcome book that outlines our favorite places in the neighborhood and activities in the city.
