Located in Frankfort a block from Lake Michigan, Serendipity House offers five charming suites just steps from the beach. The Betsie Suite is 245 square feet and perfect for two adults or families with small children. Pack your beach gear and head right to enjoy Lake Michigan's beaches and spectacular sunsets. Cross the street to start biking the 22-mile Betsie Valley Bike Trail. Or head left to enjoy downtown Frankfort's unique shops and restaurants.

Then come back for hiking or driving through the autumn colors; winter downhill and cross-country skiing; and the trillium and morels awakening to spring in the area forests.

With five separate suites, we're well-suited for wedding parties, family reunions or sharing vacations with friends.

The location is amazing and a very short walk to the beach. It was also extremely close to all of the restaurants and entertainment that downtown Frankfort has to offer. Beach by day, followed by ice cream and sunsets. Great times.

Excellent location in Frankfort

We stayed in the Betsie suite and really enjoyed it. The room was clean, comfortable, and quiet. We liked sitting on the front porch and watching the people go by. The beach was just steps away. Parking was never a problem, even on the 4th of July holiday. Note, bring a hairdryer if you need one.

Finish Line Accommodation for 70.3

We traveled to Frankfort from Florida for the Michigan 70.3 race. With mom racing and a 14 month old with us we wanted somewhere easy and convenient for the athlete to get to all the race things without needing to drive. We also wanted somewhere for babe to come in and nap during the race. Serendipity House is basically right at the finish line. The location was perfect. Pre race we enjoyed stopping for coffee on our walk to the playground or beach.

Great location, room is sufficient. It's a nice kitchenette. The porch is lovely. It's oddly decorated, the bathroom door doesn't open all the way, shower amenities are not provided (all other properties we've stayed at had soap for the shower) so be prepared, coffee maker is nice but there was no cream provided. The front of the property leaves much to be desired. It doesn't look cared for. Overall, I would stay here again, however the property needs to work on the details to make it truly desireable.

Girls Weekend

Four friends and I stayed here for our girls weekend. The efficiency room was just as described. The reviews said that the bathroom door didn’t open all the way. That is accurate, but it opens almost all of the way. This really isn’t an issue. Also, we found the beds to be VERY comfortable. The mattresses are firm, which we found great for our backs. We could sometimes hear other people, but that’s to be expected when staying in a partitioned off house. The location is AMAZING!!!! Four doors to your left is the quaint, beautiful town of Frankfort. Two short, and I mean short, blocks to your right is the beach. There is one thing that should be changed. When we were checking out our room, there was a closed door that we opened. Much to our surprise, we saw a woman sitting on the couch in her suite. This door should not have been accessible by either side. They were a kind family and we all apologized. Other than that, I highly recommend the Serendipity. One more thing, there is a fire pit in the back. Another added bonus!

Great Location - Gracious Hosts

The house has an awesome front porch to relax. You can see part of Lake Betsie marina. It is a very short walk (about a city block) to Lake Michigan. Beautiful (and large) beach with benches to watch the sunset. There's also volleyball on the beach. A short and beautiful drive to gorgeous Lake Crystal. There are 4 suites in the home. Be sure to know which suite you are renting. The hosts were very gracious and accessible.

Great location, however not everything we expected

While the owners were very courteous and easy to reach, the property did not meet expectations, - Beds very old and broken down, both our backs hurt - Paper thin walls, one gentleman left his room to take an am call, unfortunately this put him on the nice front porch, outside our room. We heard every word - Every footstep above was very loud - Do not feel we should have to strip our beds and clean up, take out garbage since we are paying a cleaning fee - Water heater was out first morning, which is understandable. Unfortunately we wasted an hour waiting for the water to heat up, thinking it was just used up by other guests. After we had wasted an hour we called, were told they were aware and taking care of. All understandable, just would have been nice to get a call or text before we had to call. We could have gone to breakfast and come back

My father, Tim Bannister got into innkeeping accidentally, when his stepfather surprised his mother with the purchase of Sunset Resort; a motel and 12 cottages in Arcadia in the 1960's. It was a long, colorful and rocky road until the resort was sold off in 2007, but Tim learned a great deal as an innkeeper ad decided to build off that experience. We are continuing with our family tradition today.

Why they chose this property

We are close to everything! One block from Lake Michigan and one block from charming downtown Frankfort. Built in 1890, the house has a long history as an inn, going back to its hosting of the workers who built the nearby Frankfort Pier. Pierside Lodgings had been a bed-and-breakfast that closed in 2005 and Tim purchased the property in 2007.

What makes this property unique

Today, Serendipity House is a one-of-a-kind inn, tailored to vacationers who want a unique experience. Situated on Main Street, the inn recalls earlier times when residents called out greetings to passersby from their front porch. Serendipity House has the porch, as well as updated living space with the amenities for vacationers who enjoy something unique.
