Hale Kona Kai is a small complex of 3 dozen absolute oceanfront condos in town but off the beaten path! Located on a quiet side street and just a short distance to the village of Kailua-Kona also known as Kona Town. Hale Kona Kai is only 1/4 block to Honl's white sand beach and 2 blocks to the Kona Farmers Market.

Central A/C

Hale Kona Kai offers a heated saltwater pool, elevator, and BBQ area. In-condo Wi-Fi, & cable TV.

All condos are non-smoking. Hale Kona Kai is a non-smoking facility. Each floor has coin-operated washers and dryers for your use. Each condo does not have its own washer/dryer.

Please note: The central air conditioning system is currently down due to a replacement project. Site management has projected completion by October 20, 2025, pending shipping of final parts. In the meantime, each unit is equipped with a portable air-conditioning unit in the bedroom for guest comfort.

Great location and awesome view

This spot in Kona was a very short walk from restaurants, shops and even beaches. The view of the ocean was great, and the patio was a great place to hang out in mornings and evenings. Would return to this location.

All about the Lanai

Very comfortable unit, but let's face it, the Lanai is why you stay here. Perfect cove and ocean views while you sip a cold beverage. Great location for easy walks to restaurants and shops.

Beautiful, Amazing, Affordable

Home away from home. This property was wonderful for our stay. Furnished with just about anything we could need. Having beach supplies (chairs, umbrella, pool noodles, snorkel gear, cooler, etc.) was awesome. This owners attention to detail is top notch. When we make a return trip, we will definitely check this condo availability first. Mahalo!!!

Fabulous Place!

Loved, loved, loved this condo! It is in a great location, very well equipped, and decorated nicely. The lanai is comfortable, and has a great view. We loved listening to the waves at night and in the morning. We never needed the AC, as the shutters let air in. The bathroom, especially the shower was nice, and the kitchen had everything you need. We can't wait to return. The management team, Taina, and Adeline were helpful, and cared about us as individuals. I highly recommend this unit.

We enjoyed our stay in 309 very much. Having stayed in 311 numerous times before, it was nice to see a remodeled unit with all the features that 309 has to offer. We were initially concerned about 309 being a bit further from the ocean front, but after being there we were completely satisfied with the view, etc from the 309 lanai. We will definitely go back to Hale Kona Kai, and likely to 309. Thanks for making it possible.

Comfortable, convient location, beautiful ocean and land view.

This was our 7 trip to the Kona area and we would stay with you again...but...a few issues. Get a stronger toilet seat...Bathroom sink hot water hard to open/close...Refer needs 2 shelves...Living room drapes are off track, right side....Both overhead fans are pined the same turn one on and they both come on....Sure could use a dust pan and broom. Keep them working on the building it needs help.

Good condo at oceanfront complex, very convinient location

It is very good unit located at oceanfront condo building. There is elevator if you're not taking stairs. Patio looks at a small beach between Hale Kona Kai and Royal Kona. The unit is nice, clean, stuffed with everything (linen, towels, kitchen equipment, even additional TV an the bedroom etc.). Everything (WiFi, cable TV, fridge, dishwasher) worked well. The unit feels larger than at Kona Reef. The central AC is great (works in every room and very quiet)! There are coin-operated laundry rooms at every floor - the quarters are available at the lobby. For years we stayed at neighboring Kona Reef and found that 309 at Hale Kona Kai is an excellent alternative. It is our second time renting through KonaNow - we are happy with their service and will come back again.

As others have written, this property has everything! From a well-outfitted and modern kitchen to beach supplies (including water shoes and snorkel equipment) to a plentiful supply of towels.The highlight is the lanai where you can see beautiful sunsets.The property has a lovely pool and we were the only ones using it! Although it is a salt water pool you don't taste the salt and it us more like a fresh water pool. The location is good and the covered parking a great bonus.Tania at reception was wonderful and very helpful.This is a place to come back to again!

Perfect Hawaiian getaway

We loved this property. It is so close to town and write on the beach where you can view. Beautiful Hawaiian sunsets from the lanai. The condo is equipped with everything y’all need to get started on your vacation. It has almost everything you need for the beach. Just checking in and enjoy.!

Comfortable and close to restaurants

Communication prior to arrival was excellent. Unit parking was convenient, easy to find. Unit was clean when we arrived. Nice one bedroom arrangement with lanai for enjoying views of water and sunset. Beach equipment included except snorkel mask and snorkel (there were some fins), but these were easily purchased for personal use. AC was out in condo, however mgmt offered portable AC ahead of our arrival. We found the unit very comfortable at night with windows open for breeze and didn't miss the AC! Laundry is not in unit - rather in common room on every floor. We did use pool, laundry, or BBQ.

Photos are Deceiving

I have never written a bad review and prefer not to say anything, but I had to write about this one. The second we walked in, we were overwhelmed with the smell of mildew, which then permeated everything we brought. The "view" was extremely limited and the way the furniture was set up, you couldn't see the ocean at all from the inside. A simple remedy would have been to reverse the location of the sofa, which was not comfortable, to the opposite side. Then you might be able to see a little bit of ocean, but you had to be on the deck and straining around the unit next door to really see anything. The comforter on the bed was not what was pictured and seemed to be extremely old. Lastly, the bedroom and bathroom doors are slatted, not even hollow core! Absolutely NO PRIVACY! For such a tiny unit, needing to use the bathroom could be embarrassing. If it means paying a little more, find another place.

Wonderful location! Close to everything you could possibly need. It was nice having a kitchen that we could actually use the pots and pans! Sharp knives also. Beach chairs and turkish towels were a bonus!
