The house is clean and lovingly cared for. It's obvious there was great attention given to the nautical decor throughout the house. The kids loved the loft being the "kid zone." The linens and towels are better than mine at home!
The main house, where our hosts lived and remained throughout our stay, was located far enough away to allow privacy in the guest house. Yet they were close enough and attentive enough to take care of issues immediately if needed.
The property is beautiful!! You are on the tip of a peninsula jutting into and overlooking Lake Champlain and staring directly at the Adirondacks! There is water on three sides and access to the lake the entire waterfront. The hosts are too modest about the impressive location of this property.
We made several day trips from this location: the ruins of Crown Point, Fort Ticonderoga, Ausable Chasm, a day in Burlington, Saratoga Springs, all very manageable drives, most of which also offered breathtaking scenery. Even though the covid pandemic is raging, we found plenty to do.
The hosts are honest in their description. I would not recommend young children, you are basically on a cliff with steep drops to the lake. If it's difficult to go up and down steps or walk down a hill AND it's important that you be able to access the water, this might be a disappointment. Also there is no beach. It is a balancing act to get in the water, but you can also just lounge on the large slate rocks to relax and soak up some sun.
We used the floaties in the lake, their corn hole set, and spent almost every night on the roomy deck grilling dinner. Also used the firepit, which had been expertly set up for easy starting! They have 2 boats but we never got to them.
Mark and Debbie were incredibly welcoming. They even provided some staple groceries to get us started after a 12 hour car ride to get there! We (me, my husband, two teenagers) highly recommend this location, just make sure it's a good fit for you. It you're not sure, just ask, they'll give you an honest answer!! Two thumbs way up! Teresa
