Lasalle is located in the Emerald Valley, known as such due to its lush greenness, thanks to the 7 local water sources, of which the Salendrinque which runs through the village. Lasalle benefits from an average of 300 days of sunshine a year. In the summer the temperatures can easily reach the mid to high 30°C, but thanks to the surrounding mountains, the temperature drops at night, making it comfortable to sleep.
The river is just a 2-minute walk from the house. A gate at the bottom of the garden gives easy access to the park, river, tennis courts and stadium all available for your use. In the heat of the summer the river also offers a refreshing change for swimming.
Around Lasalle are numerous national hiking paths for those that love the out-of-doors. Other local activities include:
- canoeing in the Hérault or Ardeche,
- canyoning St. Jean du Gard,
- tree climbing at Forest Parc near Bagard or Le Grand Bois near St. Ambroix
- karting, Pôle Mécanique Alès or Bouillargues
- indoor and outdoor laser games Alès or Nîmes
- bowling Alès
- Steam train and Bambouserie in Anduze
- Numerous amazing caves to explore in both the Gard and the Hérault
Just over an hour from Lasalle are numerous beaches, La Grande Motte, Grau le Roi, as well as jet-ski, banana boats and other water sports.
Lasalle has a traditional Provencal market every Monday from 7am until 1pm. Other markets can be found locally throughout the week. Most commodities can be found within the village, including a very good grocery shop, often stocked with local produce, 3 bakers, an organic shop, laundry service, tea shop, paper & tobacco shop, chemist, hairdressers, several GP doctors, physiotherapist, osteopath, nurses, local artisan shops (pottery), 2 bars, various restaurants, pizza, mobile butcher 5 days per week, post office, ATM, various places of worship.
Many historical visits can be found within driving distance of Lasalle with a particular Roman influence. The Medieval town of Sauve is only 20 minutes away. Nîmes and Arles are Roman cities with lots of history. The Nîmes Amphitheatre is often used for concerts during the summer, and bull fighting Feria in Spring and Autumn. The Dutch post-Impressionist painter Vincent van Gogh lived in Arles from 1888 to 1889 and produced many paintings while there.
