Bach or holiday home, 3 Bedrooms, 3 Bathrooms, (Sleeps 10)
We are a kiwi family who love to share our little piece of paradise with other families when we are not using it. We just love the security of being right on the safe lagoon and being able to watch the children play from our deck. We try to make our place as child friendly as possible so everyone can have fun. We have family members all over the world now and they love to come back to this special place as much as possible.
margls960 purchased this House in 1993
Why margls960 chose Whiritoa
Whiritoa is a hidden gem on the Coromandel and when we saw this property for sale in 1993 we couldn't belive our luck! We snapped it up and immediately enlarged and modernised it, but we wanted to keep the bachiness intact. We don't have TV or Wifi so we can unplug from technology and plug into relaxing with each other.
What makes this House unique
The views are fantastic from every room and with a lawn for tents we can accommodate all the family and their friends too! The layout of the house is open plan and has easy flow to the deck, lawn and beach. We have a garage full of things to do and cupboards full of puzzles games and toys. 4 kayaks and life jackets are available. We were delighted to win a Bookabach Gold Award - Family friendly category

We really enjoyed the location and the house. We have 3 primary-aged children and they loved the easy beach access, toys and games. We kayaked, swam in ocean and lagoon, did a walk to the next bay, and to the blow hole. Minimal use of car required. Fantastic stay.
What a magical place to stay
Whiritoa is one of my favourite beaches, and being just a step away from it made for a great holiday. I loved that there was plenty of room, that we could watch the kids play from the deck and hang out under the stars at night. Will definitely be back!
Glad you enjoyed it. You are welcome back!
Perfectly positioned for a family holiday!
Glad you enjoyed your stay
We have just come back from an amazing 7 nights here and loved every minute. The location is just perfect. The lagoon is wonderful for kids of any ages. And the sea is just a few minutes stroll. The shop is an easy 5 min walk.
The house is very quiet and private.
Definitely the highlight of the property is the master bedroom. Bright and spacious overlooking the sea. Has a wonderful corner seat to sit and watch the world go by. Bed was super comfortable. The only thing lacking was every single surface and cupboard was crammed full of stuff. There was literally no where for us to put our things. I totally understand that this is a much loved family bach, but it would be nice if a small section of the wardrobe and bathroom was cleared for paying guests.
The living area was fabulous, with a wonderful big dining table and comfy built in seating. Lots of games and books.
Kitchen was small but functional.
The 2nd bedroom upstairs is tiny, but seemed to work ok for our 2 kids. We all felt the 3rd bedroom in the garage was pretty average. Smelt very musty, heaps of cobwebs etc. Neither of my teenagers were keen to stay down here.
The garage was huge and had an amazing selection of water toys which we enjoyed.
We would definitely stay here again due to the wonderful location. I think it could do with a good clean and a bit of a declutter though, especially in the master bedroom.
We absolutely loved Whiritoa as a holiday destination, so quiet and relaxed we will definitely be back.
So glad that you loved the place, but we are really sorry about the flies. There seems to have been a real problem in Whiritoa this year. I have got someone into attend to this and the cobwebs. Thanks for the input. We will declutter. I hope you come back.
Amazing place, so close to the beach and lagoon. One of our best holidays ever!
So glad you enjoyed our paradise. Welcome back in future
A comfortable Bach with wonderful views over the lagoon and towards the sea and built to maximise the view. Just a few steps from the deck and you're on the beach. A wonderful place to relax and absorb the surroundings.
Glad you had such a good time. Welcome back anytime
Whiritoa is a coastal village half way between Waihi and Whangamata on the Coromandel peninsula. There is a dairy, a surf club, a first response centre and a tennis court in the village and full town facilities 15 kms away. The long beach has a huge cave one end and a lovley bush walk to Waimama Bay beach across the lagoon from the house
Coromandel forest park offers hiking, waterfalls and bush walks and Waihi offers gold history and lovely bike/walking tracks through the Karangahake Gorge. The steam train runs through in the summer. Whangamata has a 'surfy' town feel with cafes and boutique shops as well as a supermarket and a full range of facilities - banks post office etc. It also has a wonderful safe beach and boating facilities
