In a prime spot over the road from Piha's dramatic surf beach, at the quieter north end, our beach-house started life 30 years ago, with architect brief: 'simple kiwi bach'. We've improved and expanded it over the years, with our family, into a roomy, comfortable home-away-from-home, with large sunny decks and wonderful indoor/outdoor living, most mod-cons, yet still retaining some of the 'bachy' feel that we wanted. We love our special place and our guests seem to agree, many coming back year after year.
Don't expect 5-star luxury, but instead enjoy a comfortable, clean & functional home with just about everything you want and need, including our recently renovated kitchen, new heat pump, fibre internet and smart TV.
We have a separate spacious sunny Studio (with en-suite bathroom) outside above the garage, ideal for a separate living/play area for older or younger family members. Or could be used, as I have done, as an office during lock-downs ! Our decks all around mean you can relax in the perfect sunny (or shady) spot, chill in the hammock, or spot tuis & kererus.
Our quiet North Piha location is worlds away from the south Piha summer crowds, sheltered by our pohutukawas from the west coast winds, spray and roar of the surf. We have some limited surf views downstairs, but prime spot is upstairs in the master bedroom, even from your pillow.
Enjoy the surf & beach straight across the road, year round bush walks, and hunkering down with wine, games and books around the fire in winter!
Easy access (2-3 mins walk) to North Piha Surf Club patrolled area for safe swimming. Wonderful bush and spectacular cliff-top walks are close by - either into the bush up the Marawhara stream, or winding up Whites Track to the top of the cliffs above the house, and back down past Whites Beach. Meals available locally at the Aryeh Restaurant, (check times), and dinners some evenings either at the Piha RSA, Piha Surf Club (South Piha) or Piha Bowling Club.
Special conditions: NO PARTIES, WEDDINGS or other social gatherings please.
Extras: Cleaning (Required)
NOTE (1): As per kiwi Book-a-Bach tradition, and to keep our cleaning charges to a minimum, we assume that you will be bringing your own linen (towels/sheets/tea towels). If that will be a problem for you, then let us know and we can provide linen for an additional charge.
NOTE (2): We have a remotely-accessible video camera monitoring the front deck, stairs and front of the main house, used for security purposes only

Thanks for the great review and being such fantastic guests Shelley !
We had a great stay in Piha. The beach is amazing. If you like a getaway in a remote location this is a great option. You’ll want your own transportation to get to this location.
We've stayed at this lovely beach house several times and really enjoy returning each time, it feels like home. It's clean and welcoming with everything you need for a great beach getaway. We'll definitely be back.
Loved staying here, it had everything we needed, well equipped kitchen, and a coffee machine! Loved how close it was to the beach, and being able to see and hear the waves from the house was magic. Would love to come again.

The host made everything easy with clear communication beforehand. The house was wonderful, peaceful surrounded by nature and bird calls. The kitchen has all the things you need to cook in, plenty of room inside and out. Perfect for a large family gathering or catch up for friends. We stayed in Winter and they provided firewood would love to stay in the summer but amazing in both.

Thanks for leaving the place so immaculate Debbie. Welcome back any time :)
We enjoyed everything about Andrew’s property… wonderful deck, excellent location, private, enough space for our extended family. We are American but our Kiwi son in law told us it was very “Piha Bach” like and that’s what he loves after growing up in Auckland. Also the barbecue worked great with a little cleaning! Thank you Andrew! Memorable time.

Thanks Jane for looking after our place. You're welcome back any time.
I stayed at Andrew’s place in Piha for three weeks and loved it. He was very consistent with answering any questions I had and had amazing communication. Andrew left me a nice note and gift upon arrival since I was a long stay. The house was very clean and beautiful. The view from the house is incredible and very close access to the beach. This was my first trip to New Zealand from the US and I would definitely use Andrew’s place again if I travelled back.

Thanks Kirra, great that you enjoyed Piha and our place. Thanks you for leaving it so clean and tidy - you'd be welcome back any time!
Apologies for delay in review, the email went directly into my spam folder. We have stayed at this beach house several times and we love it. It is exactly as advertised, a lovely family friendly comfortable house where a group of friends can get together and relax. Everything we need is there including the fire in winter.
This bach exceeded our expectations, it had everything we needed, and more. We love Piha, and every year we save up to stay at a bach - this one was easily the very best yet. Such a beautiful home, away from the busy crowds yet wonderfully close to the beach. We ate every single meal outdoors & relished the hammock in the pohutukawa (and visiting kereru). Views, books, privacy, sunshine, shade, coffee machine...what more do you need? We would all return to this blissful bach in a heartbeat.

Many thanks Libby for your appreciative comments. And glad to hear that this summer's kereru is still gracing us with his presence You're welcome back any time.
We selected this location based on proximity to family. The bonus was that is it located on our favorite beach area in New Zealand. The area is peaceful with access to the best hiking/walking trails and surfing in the area.
This bach is very well appointed and was absolutely perfect for our family visit. Our daughter stayed in the unit above the garage so that she and our visiting granddaughter could have sleepovers and play Nintendo Switch all night :-)
Communication with the host was outstanding. The host was very generous with his knowledge of the area and what was open/closed in the area due to slips from the last cyclone.
We thoroughly enjoy the property and would not hesitate to visit again.
Note for US visitors: screens don't exist in NZ. Buy bug spray on arrival or mosquitos/sand fleas (on the beach) will make a meal out of you. Also, respect the swim flags - the rip currents and dropoffs are not to be toyed with.
