janell168 purchased this House in 1996
Why janell168 chose Oreti Beach
I bought this property several years before I had children. I was working as a Department of Conservation ranger based for a year in the Invercargill city office. Being one who appreciates the wilds I was looking for a home a little bit out of town. I was pleased to be able to buy this little house, it suited me very well being only a 10 minute drive to work or 35 minutes by bicyclel! When I relocated with my job inland to Te Anau there was no way I wished to part with it as it makes a perfect little beach holiday spot. That was a good decision, our children really enjoy the beach too and we have had lovely holidays together there, it's a nice change for us as we live inland near the mountains where there is a beautiful lake but no surf!
What makes this House unique
2 hrs drive from Queenstown, skifields, beautiful Fiordland and 3hrs from Dunedin
No refunds for cancellations made after payment is made
Cool house and a great spot!
Thanks Jane for having us over easter. The house was fantastic and the location superb to both chill out and also explore the south. The fireplace was great and heated the whole house up in no time!
Cute authentic beach cottage
Great place very close to the beach. Good selection of books, very nicely decorated, great kitchen with all necessary equipment, cosy log burner. Excellent place to relax. Definitely recommend.
Lovely location and a wonderful wee cottage.
Lovely location and a wonderful wee cottage. We enjoyed several long walks on the gorgeous Oreti Beach.
Property is a bit rustic but that's what we were after.
Property is a bit rustic but that's what we were after. Nice quiet location, close to beach and house is very comfortable
Private, quiet, close to beach and Invercargill.
Private, quiet, close to beach and Invercargill. Quirky wee crib. Was cold outside on the first night but inside the crib was warm and the fire made it toasty.
This is a cosy Bach with nice fire place and quality bed linen.
This is a cosy Bach with nice fire place and quality bed linen. You can hear the surf and it’s a nice long beach to walk on. There’s a very good cafe/diner 8 minutes back along the main road. We had a great weekend . Thanks Jane
Invercargill city is 10 minute drive away with all the services you would expect in a small city. Queens Park in the city centre has traditional park gardens with tearoom, flower beds, fountains, a children's play area and sheltering tall trees. It includes small botaniical garden areas planted with New Zealand alpine plants, trees and shrubs.
Easy native forest walks are available very close to Oreti Beach at Sandy Point, or a 30 minute drive away at Bluff HIlll reserve and Omaui.
Stewart Island is just across Foveaux Strait and may be reached by air (Invercargill airport) or sea (Stewart Island Experiences departing from ferry wharf at Bluff). Stewart Island is mainly naturally forested, populated only at one small settlement where the locals are involved in fishing and tourism. The island has pretty bush fringed inlets and you can take wildlife tours there to see our national living icon - the rare kiwi - in its natural habitat. A very rare opportunity!
Queenstown is just a 2 hour drive away where you can indulge in a huge range of holiday activities, from skiing to rafting to paragliding and bungy jumping. After a day amongst such hype, our place offers a place to retreat from all the razzamatazz of the resort town - you will find our quiet corner almost the complete opposite! A place to hear the sea sing and admire the wide starry skies.
