New two-storey crib built on edge of Naseby Forest. Mountain biking and forest walks on doorstep. 5 minute walk into historic Naseby village, with two pubs, cafe and dairy, mining relics, museum, curling, ice-skating and luge. Located on quiet street, good for kids to play in area, trails lead through forest to water race, and up to historic cemetery. In the wider area, Ranfurly is a 10minute drive to more cafes, rural art deco architecture, the rail trail and tractor museum! Also a supermarket there and pub. Driving the other direction, its a 20min to Danseys' Pass historic hotel, great food and drink, then further to Dansey's Pass summit and amazing views. Special conditions: Our crib is not on the grid. It DOES have electricity though! It has a photovoltaic system, that provides 240V for lights, stereo etc. We ask people to be careful with conserving power. There is no TV. Fridge, stove and hot water (plentiful) are all gas-powered. The crib is heated by an amazing log-burner that will have you stripping off layers in no time - entirely double-glazed and super-insulated, the place is really cosy all year round, even with a foot of snow outside.
NOTE: Under Kiwi bach tradition you are expected to: Clean the house and do the dishes before you leave; Bring your own linen (towels/sheets/tea towels); ALSO NOTE: During statutory long holiday weekends - we ask for a two-night minimum stay.

Stayed one night. It was a bit difficult getting my head round the fridge and cooker settings. It was pretty clean.comfy beds. Very nice and relaxed stay. Thank you Brent.
Actual house had a lovely atmosphere and was well presented. However, there were a few hiccups (1) Solar: we were aware it was solar though 2 panels were not sufficient and when we arrived the fridge was off and ran by gas hence we had to plug our own portable fridge/freezer into the mains to keep our fresh meat & food etc. cold which depleted the solar power. The Fridge took over 8hrs to reach optimum temperature.(2) BBQ was disgusting, lucky we took our own.(3) Oven was filthy (4) Beds in family room most uncomfortable though the bed double bed in couples room was very cosy.(5) Bin liners: none available- we bought our own (6) Lawn: Needs a mow; grass over a foot high.(7) Dirty tea-towels piled up in one corner Would benefit from having someone pop in fortnightly to check on things.Despite all the above we had an awesome break away.
Beautiful cabin, off grid but has a great woodburner and gas fridge and oven and some solar electricity. Fabulous location very beautiful Naseby is a fabulous place for a family holiday we enjoyed biking ice skating and relaxing.
Our family of four came to naseby for a couple of nights to enjoy the village and the surrounding forest. The Bach was toasty and warm and perfect for walking around the village and into the forest
2nd time staying here and we love it so much. Love that there's no TV or wifi so we play lots of fun board games and hang about 'shooting the breeze'.
The house is clean and airy and is a perfect location (access to Mt bike trails is literally 50m away).
What a wee treasure. Loved the fact this bach is on the edge of town in a no-through street - lovely and quiet. Very light, spacious and comfy too. The woodburner was toasty and the kitchen had everything we needed and way more.
Would love to go back for a longer stay. Many thanks for letting us enjoy your holiday home, Brent.
A family of three (two adults and a six year old), we stayed on a cold late June weekend. As others have said, the fire heated the house quickly and efficiently. We used the electricity sparingly given the time of year and we had no issues. The house and garden are full of entertainment (games, books, trees!). Running / walking / cycling right on the doorstep and pub, cafe and ice rink a short walk away.
We loved our stay and looking to book again soon.
The owner of the property failed to contact us prior to arriving with information on key location.
Fortunately there was a door unlocked. This property is off grid and luckily my husband is a practical person and turned on the gas as well sorting out battery for power.
The description of the property was inaccurate as there was a fridge and range and this would have made a difference to the supplies I took with me.
I would a like Mr Lovelock to give us a refund.
A great spot for a weekend stay with friends. Perfect proximity to race event and town . Clean, tidy and just perfect for what we needed. Instructions were clear , Brent was right about the fire being toasty we had two logs on after lighting it and had to open windows!!
Cute private cottage which must have amazing insulation because once we got the fire cranking the whole place was VERY warm (with quite thick snow on the ground outside). Super quiet location, and only a 5 min stroll down the hill to the cafe, pub etc. Gas fridge, stove etc easy to use, solar lights were a bit marginal as weather had apparently been pretty bad before we arrived, but plenty of candles etc available. Would definitely stay again.
