Feed the vibrant birdlife or the local eels from the bridge - This is a small, springfed stream, which flows just to the west of Takaka’s Commercial Street and into the Takaka River. It was a small Maori eel fishery area and was an outdoor playground for local children to boat, fish and swim in.
The water supply to the house is from a bore and so you will be drinking some of the most pristine water for which Golden Bay is famed, just out of Takaka are the famed Te Waikoropupu Springs which are well known for their crystal clear pools unseen anywhere else in the world.

Lovely place in central Takaka. We visited in chilly autumn and loved the cosy fire with lots of dry firewood and snuggly blankets. Nicely appointed home. Also really appreciated being able to bring our family dog with no fuss.
Great house - everything we needed. Good location - 2 min walk to Takaka centre. Everything well set up and lots of lovely touches like the choccys on the table! Lovely and warm - great fire!
We loved the atmosphere here. While just a few minutes walk from the shops, the house had 1940s (?) charm and a great woodburner, plus lovely views of trees, stream and hills... Plenty of room and great cooking facilities. We really enjoyed our King's birthday weekend here.
Great place to stay. Wonderful fire to make you feel hugged and warm.
Comfy beds and great location.
Owners great to communicate with and would definitely recommend to others.
Despite being on the main road through Takaka this bach was such a lovely peaceful, relaxing oasis. I especially enjoyed the garden with kereru doing fly-pasts as we ate our evening meal outdoors and a friendly pukeko popping up regularly to say hello. Would definitely stay again.
Very warm and cosy home. Lots of heaters and a great fire. Bedding was good quality and a very well stocked home with everything you needed. Would definitely stay again. A bbq would be a good addition
We really enjoyed our stay, it was convenient and easy. Beds were comfy and the fire was much appreciated - especially with all the ready cut wood. Downside was only 4 dining chairs and kitchen could be better equipped. Thank you for a lovely stay.
A very nice cottage/house in a great location. Walkable - 10 mins - to centre of Takaka. Rural outlook. Clean and tidy, all the amenities we needed. Would stay again. :)
