Perfect base for exploration of Queenstown, Glenorchy, Milford Sound etc. The cottage has everything one might need away from home. The quietness and lake-front view is superb. Other inspirations gained are the rainwater harvesting system and lovely designs of the houses in the neighbourhood.
The property had a beautiful view of the lake. It was cozy and had everything we needed. It was a good jumping off point to explore the Southland and Stewart Island.
My best friend and I stayed here a couple of nights for a quiet girls weekend, it was absolutely perfect, a whole house for the price of a motel and lake front access and view! We will definitely be going back.
Probably our favourite stay of the trip. Perfect location on the lake with amazing views. Worked so well for bonfires on the beach! Cottage was clean, comfortable and very well equipped. Would highly recommend.
Amazing wee cottage on a beautiful piece of land right on the lake. Easy and fast communication with owner and property manager. Would def recommend. Thanks very much.
We loved this rental, it was so nice to wake up to the lake just across the road and there is a lovely restaurant withing walking distance at the old train station. Unfortunately the train only runs on Sunday so we couldn't take it, but maybe next time! There is also a great bike / hike path that goes around the mountain that we walked on.
This was a lovely rental and we enjoyed our time there very much.

We just came back from a wonderful stay in this lovely house. We loved the way it is built with lots of beautiful details and the house is cozy and warm, even warmer than our own house. The location is great, too, and the contact to the owner was perfect. He responded within minutes.
Thanks for this lovely stay. We’ll definitely come back again.

A very complete & thoughtfully presented holiday house almost right on the lake. Prefer if closer to Queenstown.
I booked with Expedia, made one payment on my credit card, then was billed by Vrbo, which is connected with Expedia for a second payment. This was not wrong, but confusing, as I expected my credit card to be automatically billed by Expedia for a second payment.
Quiet and peaceful getaway from Queenstown. View of Lake Wakatipu was breathtaking, the front gardens were beautiful, and the starlit night sky was incredible. Central location for various daytrips: from the Fiordlands, to Queenstown and all the way to Wanaka.
It is a rustic but nicely outfitted cabin. Beds were comfortable and appliances worked well. Water is untreated from a cistern so consider purchasing bottled drinking water with your groceries in Queenstown, as there is only a small corner store in Kingston. Satellite internet/TV can be a bit slow or intermittent, but met our entertainment needs.
The house manager was extraordinarily attentive and kind and made our stay perfect. We would definitely consider staying again.

Beautiful place, entitled owners
We pay to stay and are told to clean. We left the place clean and tidy but telling us we are like friends visiting is rubbish. No milk, no coffee, barely enough soap to wash our bodies in leaking plastic pouches, not enough towels to last the days, one hand towel for 2 days with 4 people and one towel each. Rudeness, no tea, no hot chocolate. No response to our private comments. Lazy entitled owners.

Hi Robyn
We are glad you loved the house.
For the benefit of others reading your review we need to establish some facts. At no time did I say you were like a friend staying asking you to do extra cleaning. You did not send me any private comments prior to, or during your stay. I can only assume you have us confused with another host with this.
It is a great shame you didn’t simply contact us when you arrived and given us the chance to meet your needs. We could have directed you to the local supermarket, two minutes up the road, who stock the basics including hot chocolate.
Our cleaner lives just down the road and she would have been happy to get you some more towels if one towel each was not sufficient.
Our listing accurately states the amenities we provide to our guests.
You don’t have the right to call us lazy and entitled which is highly offensive and defamatory, especially on a public website. You have no idea the effort and expense we put in to gain “Premier Host” status with Bookabach in supplying good quality, affordable accommodation.
