About the host

HI There, We are a family of 4, Natalie, Stephan, Chloe and Lotus. We migrated from Holland in 2005 to NZ. We started our Eco village 'Te Manawa' in 2005 and by 2007 we where living permanent on the land. Natalie is a fully qualified Qi Gong master and teacher, Stephan is an architect and Chloe and Lotus are both attending school. We love travelling and have done many times.
Why they chose this property
Our property is very unique and can be seen as a way of living in harmony with the land. The land is previously been logged but the generation process is well under way for over 25 yrs. The entire property of 150acres is commonly owned by 6 families who all reside her. We look after the land through invasive flora and fauna removal, track building, planting and general upkeep. The land is on steep so called 'Seperation point granite', a highly erosive soil type which can be very problematic due to erosion. The land is totally unsuitable for clearfell logging, but this is still common practice in the district causing huge problems. The way we look after the land might a a very good example of proper land management on these soils. We also have big areas of native bush protected by a covenant (QE2). This means these can't logged. As a result of our pest control you will find many native rare birds on the property. The bird song is very beautiful. We do get visits from native Kea's every now and then. Please don't interact with these very intelligent birds or feed them.
What makes this property unique
Amazing views. Quite space in the bush but close to town. Enjoy the moonrise over the ocean. Prolific birdlife. Activities onsite Qigong classes and healing onsite as well as bushwalks. Motueka river in the valley for a great dip or fishing. Mountain biking close by.
