Summary:
Set above Onetangi with an uninterrupted sweep of blue water, The Onetangi Lookout by Stay Waiheke is a calm, sun-filled retreat made for slow mornings, long beach days, and evenings on the deck as the coastline settles into dusk. With wide views from every level and the beach, cafés, and vineyards all within an easy walk, this is relaxed Onetangi living with comfort built into every part of the stay.
The Space:
The home is arranged across three staggered levels, designed to follow the natural slope of the site and make the most of the elevated outlook over Onetangi.
You enter the home on the top level, which holds the main living spaces. This level brings together the kitchen, dining area, and lounge in one open, light-filled zone, with large sliding doors framing wide views out over Onetangi. Outdoor lounge areas sit off this level, creating easy places to relax, read, or take in the view throughout the day.
Also on this top level is a small bathroom with shower and toilet, along with the laundry, positioned just off the living area.
Down one level is the main bedroom, which feels tucked away and calm. This room has air conditioning and sits alongside a full bathroom with a bath, creating a comfortable private zone separate from the main living space.
The second bedroom is located on the lowest level and includes a fan. This bedroom opens directly to a generous outdoor area, where you’ll find the BBQ, outdoor seating, and an outdoor shower, making it an ideal setup after beach days. This lower level can also be accessed externally from the front of the house, so guests don’t need to pass through the bedroom to reach the outdoor area.
With its layered layout, multiple outdoor spaces, and strong connection to the view, the home works well for couples, friends, or a small family wanting comfort, separation between sleeping areas, and easy indoor–outdoor living close to the beach.

The Neighborhood:
Onetangi is one of Waiheke’s most loved beaches, long, wide, and great for swimming, walking, and soaking up the sun. From The Onetangi Lookout it’s a comfortable walk down to the sand, where you’ll also find the local cafés and restaurants including Charlie Farley’s, Three Seven Two, and Ki Māha.
The area is known for its relaxed pace, coastal views, and easy access to vineyards. Casita Miro, Stonyridge, and Tantalus are all close by, and The Heke, Waiheke’s brewery and distillery is a short drive or bus ride away.
This end of the island has a nice balance of quiet spaces and good food and wine options, with everything close enough that you don’t have to plan your days around long drives.
Getting Around:
Onetangi is well connected, and buses run regularly from the beach. From here they stop at major wineries, including The Heke, before continuing into Oneroa village and down to the passenger ferry at Matiatia.
If you’re arriving with a vehicle, the drive from the ferry is around 12 minutes, and the route is simple. Parking is available at the property.
