Spacious house with gorgeous sunset views from the lanai. Beautifully decorated in a combination of Hawaiian and SE Asian style. New tile floors and tiled shower in master bedroom and bathroom. Large and nicely landscaped garden and yard including a gazebo.
The house is about a 30 minute drive from Kona airport and 15-20 minutes from the beautiful kohala coast beaches. There is a shopping center with restaurants, a grocery store and a gas station about 2 miles away. The Waikoloa Village Golf Club is just a 5 minute drive. Beach equipment and 3 sets of golf clubs are available in the garage. A/C in master bedroom only, though Waikola winds and plenty of fans keep the house cool for most of the year.
There are two feral cats that live in the backyard. They have an outdoor feeder that goes off twice a day. They are not allowed in the house.

Was the perfect place to stay on our family vacation! We loved that it was quiet and in a nice neighborhood, even fell in love with the kitten that lives outside! Would book again if we were on the big island.
This stay was excellent the house was clean and ready as advertised, the host was outstanding with responding to us.
Highly recommend this location
Aloha
Had a great stay here, perfect for families! Kitchen was fully stocked and great for cooking, and the rest of the house worked great for our group of 5 + an infant. Backyard was beautiful with amazing sunset views.
This was an amazing property we were very glad to get the chance to stay in! It was very clean, well maintained, and well stocked with supplies. The neighborhood is a great location and easy to get to, with spectacular views of the ocean and surrounding area. The two bathrooms made it an easy stay for our family of 4 (two adult children), and the garage was a great touch to be able to use. We'll definitely stay here again!
We really enjoyed our stay at Sunset House. Everything was clean and organized, kitchen was well stocked, and the rooms were spacious and comfortable. The property is nice and the outdoor cats are adorable and friendly. We would stay again if we are lucky enough to make it back to Hawaii sometime!
We stayed for 4 nights in Waikoloa Village on the "Sunset house". It was very confortable with everything needed to enjoy our stay: cookware, many beach chairs, boogie boards and even a beach umbrella. The beds were confortable and the house was clean. Note that there are feral cats that live in the backyard and they would sit or sleep on the patio fourniture when we were away.
This was our 3rd and final stop on our 3 generation family,4 adults, 3 children, tour of the big island. The home was immaculate and the layout and sunsets were perfect. The location was well suited to our north island agenda and convenient for our return to the Kona airport. There was a lovely selection of beach paraphernalia in the garage including boogie boards which our grandchildren took full advantage of. This is a quiet neighborhood with easy access to gas and groceries and a beautifully landscaped garden yard. We spent most of the time when we were at the home on the gorgeous west facing lanai. One of our grandsons spent a night in hammock. The VRBO listing showed 2 twin beds available which turned out to be 2 mattresses on the floor in the master suite, but it was a non issue for us. A delightful finale to a wonderful trip.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Check-in and check-out were incredibly easy and straightforward. We had a couple of very minor concerns and maintenance was there first thing the next morning (what incredible service!). The house was lovely and everything we were looking for. Two of my family members are extremely allergic to cats. The listing didn't mention cats at the time of our booking - however, that has been changed. The owner did communicate that there was a feral cat near the home before we arrived. However, we didn't know the cats lived so close to the house. The feeder is right at the back door. At the time of our stay, there were three cats living there and they all spent significant time on the outdoor furniture. Because of allergies, we were unable to fully enjoy the outdoor space (which is truly one of the very best parts of the home). I would caution anyone with pet allergies. Otherwise, this is a truly delightful home!
This house was amazing to my friends and I over the weekend! The location is a good distance from the airport and Waikoloa, and the view was very beautiful at night and during the day, along with the very nice breeze we felt at night!
The home is just like the photos online, however, our only concern was that the floors didn’t feel clean (as locals we don’t use footwear inside), the floor was dirty but I think that was because of the dust and dirt that came through the window? So if that would be a concern for you I’d wear your footwear indoors or just use socks.
Kindra and Ireland were amazing hosts. Their response time was very fast and they were very kind to us.
We had a 9 month old with us who is crawling and I wouldn’t recommend any babies to go crawling around in the home as it is not baby proofed but nonetheless, my baby enjoyed her stay as well.
Overall, I highly recommend this property and this host and would 100% come back when I do come back to the big island!
Great place. Sunsets on ocean at night. Room for children. Lot of love and care on landscaping. Master bedroom had AC. Path to get to sidewalks to walk in mornings. Close to Hapuna Beach and Waimea.
Epic house with epic views…this was our second stay. It had everything to make our time over on the Waikaloa side perfect. The kitchen was well stocked as well as the towels, linens and beach paraphanelia! Mahalo nui!
We saw some beautiful sunsets from this property ! A very nice patio area. The house is well stocked with snorkeling equipment, towels, beach items, coolers, games and so on which made our trip even more enjoyable. It is not far from a grocery store. We enjoyed our stay here.
We had a great stay at sunset house!! The house is clean, spacious, well equipped, perfect for a Hawaii vacation on the Big Island. We enjoyed several beautiful sunsets in the house’s garden relaxing. All in our group agree we would definitely return to this house and recommend it.
Sunsets every night. Best VRBO I’ve stayed at on big island. Nice beds. Nice showers. Nice landscaping path to road for walks. Quick access to beach. Great place
We stayed at the house for the weekend. It was a nice and cute house. Comfortable. A yard was neat and pretty. Since it was for tennis matches, we were grateful for a cooler there. Initially it was warm, but once wind started blowing, it was cool. The owner was nice and communicate d well. She is responsible and friendly.
We stayed here during an outrigger racing paddling trip. The house is perfect for a group of 6. The beds are comfortable, there are several sitting areas. The lanai is beautiful, cool with great views and a lovely neighborhood companion cat to keep us company. The kitchen is very functional and well outfitted with all manner of cooking utensils and a good variety of spices and condiments. Everything is supplied including toilet paper, paper towels and garbage bags, beach towels, chairs, coolers and other beach necessities. There are board games, books and movies too. The owner was very responsive when we were challenged with the television setup ( since tropical storm Hone was imminent and we thought we might have to stay in for a few days) and drove over to take care of it immediately. The area is quite breezy, and we had great air circulation despite the heat. We did not need AC. The place felt like home and we would return in a heartbeat.
Lots of Aloha in this Hawaii home - nice Hawaiian style furnishings inside and out, comfortable and well stocked with kitchen tools and basics, as well as everything you need for the beach: coolers, towels, chairs and toys. Nice breezes to keep the temperature comfortable. And because it is Hawaii, lots of insects to feed the geckos that co-exist. Overall, a very enjoyable home where we created lots of great memories!
