The house was beautiful and in a great location for activities and places. Unfortunately there was limited towels especially for the kitchen to be able to cook and clean up. Cleanliness of the bathrooms was superb! The hot tub was absolutely disgusting and green and full of moss. The back porch was filled with cockroaches. So glad we did not see any inside the house. It was very cold and no extra blankets or bedding to be found. The kitchen had very limited pots and pans to cook meals.
The house is a beautiful brick Victorian with walking distance to local restaurants, and a longer walk to downtown. Inside was very clean, but less so outside - a plastic trash bag was on the backyard stoop and cigarette butts in the portable fire pit. The hot tub was cloudy and we decided that wasn't a good idea. We could also not use the backyard grill because there was no gas hook-up.The front had beautiful double doors that were shaky, which was a huge problem our 2nd night around 3am when an intruder broke in to get out of a storm. I confronted him inside the foyer, and he left without incident, but we later found that a few of our personal items were stolen. I contacted the host the next day by text but never heard back. Three days later when we left, I contacted him via VRBO, but have not yet gotten a response.Inside was beautiful but one of the couches was broken, we found out, when it was sat on and our friend fell through. Otherwise the water pressure and other comforts were great.
The house and furniture were gorgeous! Beautiful stained glass windows, antique wood furniture, awesome fireplace mantels and tiles throughout the house. But very modern and nice bathrooms with very comfortable beds. The only improvements might be some bigger cookware...If you have 6 people and only 2 smaller skillets, you can't cook very easily. There are a lot of steps. It is very close to everything, but you are downtown.
Home is exactly as shown on website and gorgeous! The historic details of the home are amazing with an outdoor area that is wonderful. Perfect place to stay that is close to the historic area of Louisville and a short drive to downtown.
Work friends from around the country came in for Derby week. The house was historic, in a great location, but the backyard was our favorite part! Parking was tricky, but if using Uber will be no problem. David answered any questions almost immediately. Friends loved it, great first impression on my home state!! Thank you!

A little run down
Property is a little run down and could use several updates, manager was responsive to requests at first but when it came to a light that would not switch off in a bedroom he stopped responding. We had to unscrew the light (which then broke). Overall the stay was ok but the back felt unuseable because of the overwhelming gas smell and lack of lock on the back fence which has unhoused people walking in on us.
This home is truly lovely. It has character and is an old home that had charm. Hot tub was great as was number of rooms and bathrooms. Had some issues and unfortunately with the issues being over Christmas they were not all able to be addressed during our stay. Host is working to correct per his message to us. Dryer was not operating properly during our 4 night stay. Also there was not one hand towel for 4 bathrooms and no kitchen towels either. Only 2 beach towels for house so adding 6 more would be great since you have the nice hot tub. Kitchen also has limited dishes - not even enough for the max this house sleeps which is 10 - there were 3 bowls.and 7 plates. Driveway is tricky but nice to use. Area is great for access to all of Louisville and downtown.
Over all this property was okay and worked for our purposes, but did have it's quirks as it is over 100 years old. We were having a mini reunion of my husband's friends from college. We had 8 people in our party. The backyard area is large and conducive to gathering, however, we had an intermitent sewer gas smell that wafted through the area and that was off putting. Some of the expected amenities were missing like shower gel and shanmpoo/conditioner in some baths. There were quite a number of burnt out bulbs in lights throughout the house, to include the living room chandelier and the bedside lamp bulbs in the third floor bedroom. It was challenging to find some of the switches that controlled the lights and we never did figure out how to turn off the entryway light. A schematic in the guest book would be handy just to save time sorting this out. You can tell this is a formerly glorious neighborhood, but it is just a block or two away from some serious neighborhood blight. We saw numerous homeless individuals walk by the property and a few blocks away, going toward downtown, they would gather in places. That said, no one bothered us at the VRBO property. The back gate has a lock on it and we kept all the doors secured at all times. If you have mobility issues this is not the property for you. All bedrooms are up a steep flight of stairs and two of the bedrooms are on the third floor. The A/C worked well downstairs but it was challenging to keep it cool on the upper levels
