This Kill Devil Hills Rental Home caters to outdoor enthusiasts, providing built-in swings on exterior decking, hammock, cornhole, grill, beach chairs and other beach items, and more! As for a rainy day on the Outer Banks, "The Turtle Shell Cottage" has you covered, providing an entire game room filled with fun amenities like foosball, dart board, and more! With other comforting amenities like WiFi, Keurig coffee maker, and laundry room, you'll be set for an uninterrupted OBX Vacation!

321 provides 3 bedrooms, including a Queen Master Bedroom with separate access to hallway bathroom, another bedroom with Queen bed, and a Twin bedroom. The spacious great room offers an updated kitchen with island, dining area, and living area with plenty of seating. The secluded downstairs then provides an enormous game room with private bathroom and resting area!

Being located in the heart of the Outer Banks, this rental home is close to grocery stores, shopping, movie theatre, historic sites like the Wright Brothers Memorial, water sports, and so much more! This home's unique location on a commercial strip allows guests to walk to restaurants like Noosa Scoops for ice cream, Kill Devil Grill for a great meal, the Harris Teeter grocery store, and even stop by the neighboring OBXpress Car Wash to clean the salt air off your car before heading home! And, being only a few blocks to the beach, this home provides a beach cart and beach dolly for your convenience!

** To keep rental costs down, this OBX home does not provide linens. However, a linen package can be provided for an extra fee. Please contact Cove Realty of Nags Head for more information on this home's linen rental package. Also, Cove Realty is a Green company that limits excessive waste.  As such, linens, toiletry items, cleaning supplies, and so forth, are not supplied at the rental home, so please be mindful to bring these with you or be ready to purchase upon arrival to the Outer Banks.

Another Excellent Stay

This place has it all for families. All the beach stuff you need and more. We always have a great stay and will definitely be back again. Quick walk to the beach and local restaurants. Short drive to tons of activities.

First Time to OBX

We enjoyed our stay very much. The rental was close to everything and only a short walk from the beach. Plenty of amenities to enhance our stay. We would definitely book this rental again.

Beach vacation

Our stay at this property was everything and more! Clean, cozy and close enough to beach our family could walk. Tons of amenities and everything needed for beach was provided making it easy and affordable. Would def stay again:)

Sister Vacay at OBX

We had a wonderful time together, about the only time we see each other is when we go to the beach once a year. Great accommodations, great food, great weather! It was just too short!

Great beach house!!

This property was perfect for a beach trip! The owners are extremely quick to respond and check in/check out is easy and simple! The house itself is perfect and only about 5 minute walk to the beach. It also comes with so many beach tools (like a beach wagon and rolling cooler) that make that walk even easier! 100% would recommend to anyone looking to stay in the heart of OBX near restaurants/shops.

Great property and amenities. If they don’t have it you probably won’t need it. The location is convenient to public beach access and grocery store. You won’t be disappointed.

Great Cottage

Great for families, girl get aways, fishermen, couples get away and older surfers. Great location, between the highways (beach road & by pass) In middle of beach so it's close to everything (shopping, sightseeing, restaurants, beach equipment rentals, outlets, etc. Only 2-3 minutes walk to beach access. Kitchen is well stocked. Great prices. Colorful and comfortable cottage.

Cleanest, best equipped and most organized beach rental!

Loved the Turtle Shell! Terri and Russell have done an amazing job keep this place looking spotless. Very impressive. Everything you need for a stay is there, and we had a lot of fun checking out all the labels on everything. Location was great...walking to the grocery store, ABC store, beach made our short stay that much more relaxing. Highly recommend.

Another excellent visit

This is out third year at the Turtle house, and we absolutely loved it again. Very close to the beach and restaurants. It literally has anything you could want for the beach. We didn't need to bring anything for the kids. As always, it was very easy to get a hold of Terry for questions (she is the nicest person!). We will definitely be back for a 4th year.

We were in town for a softball tournament. The Turtle Shell provided the perfect accommodations for my family. Very comfortable, welcoming and well stocked. The game room was icing on the cake. Quiet and comfortable

Cottage was great, even better than the description and pictures. Lots of extras excluded. We especially were impressed with the prompt responses to our communications with the owners. We also appreciated the lack of additional fees. We enjoyed it.

Great Family Property

This house comes baby-proofed and includes toys for both indoor and outdoor use. Bathroom downstairs/in basement is the one that has a bathtub. Very convenient to rinse kids off in the outdoor shower and then move them into the nearby bathroom. House is a couple blocks back from public beach access that includes a wooden walkway without steps (nice if you have littles and lots of stuff!) Will stay again!

Great Stay

We had a great stay during our time in Kill Devil Hills! The house was clean and cool, which is important after a day at the beach. There was ample equipment in the kitchen for cooking asvwell as in the garage for beaching it all day. If anything, we were a little taken aback upon arrival by the carwash next door. I even Google mapped the home to see what was around it and the carwash did not show up on Google images. BUT I do want to say, the carwash didn't turn out to be a nuisance. In the end overall it was a wonderful stay.

Small cottage perfect for a getaway

My family and I have been staying in the Turtle Shell Cottage for the past few years. When we found out that the property was sold, we were concerned if the property would still be available to rent, how the owners would communicate with us and what improvements would they make. We quickly found out that the property was sold to a wonderful couple who made great efforts to improve the experience. The upgrades that were completed, communication with owners and the cost cannot be beat. This cottage is great for small families and/or friends who want to visit the Outer Banks and have a quick walk to the beach.

Perfect for families

This cottage is very comfortable, it has a nice lived in feel, like your staying at a family members house. It is close to the main road that runs through the Outter Banks which is very convenient and there is a public beach access very close by. There are so many toys provided for both children and adult entertainment, our kids specifically loved the basketball hoop and ping pong table. We have a toddler, and loved the child locks and baby gate provided! There was one small inconvenience, and that was carrying all of our luggage up and down the stairs when we arrived and left, it wasn’t a big deal to us but may be something that might be an issue for future guests to keep in mind. The owners of this cottage are very nice, and even offered to let us check in 4 hours early because they didn’t have any guests the night before us. Overall we absolutely loved our stay and would absolutely return!!

Comfortable, relaxing, and accomodating

One of the things I was worried about when thinking about booking the Turtle Shell was it's proximity to the road. Let me assure you that I hardly noticed that we were by the road. Noise was never an issue. We were comfortable and relaxed. It felt no different that being one street closer to the beach. One of my favorite things about this property is that it had so much not only of what we needed, but also what we wanted. My kids loved riding the bikes around the neighborhood and we regularly enjoyed opening up the garage and having picnic and time for the kids to run around and play when we weren't at the beach. The walk to the beach was easy, even with a 2-year old and the wagon that is provided for lugging gear is very nice and easy to manage. Overall, I highly recommend the Turtle Shell. We hope to make it back there in years to come!

Girls getaway

2 story home just minutes from the beach has everything you would need especially if you have children. The beach entrance had a shower for public use. Plenty of room upstairs and the porch with the swings was nice place to relax. Only down fall was the car wash next door can see you swingin. The yard had a 8ft solid fence to the back yard for privacy. Nice neighborhood to take a walk or bike. Harris Teeters across the street! I’d stay there again!

This was a (now annual) sister vacation. This was our third year at Turtle Shell, and God willing, we’ll be back for more! We usually eat out most of the time, we don’t utilize all there is to offer, mainly the toaster oven and microwave.😂 this place is very well stocked for anything you could want. Convenient location, very clean and walking distance to the ocean. Highly recommend!👍

They tried to think of it all

They had everything including kids bikes and a push stroller/bike. They provided detailed information about the area. Even the cabinets were labeled to help you find things more easily. They tried hard to make sure you're comfortable. The only thing you need to keep in mind is there is no indoor access from the upper level to the garage/lower level. So you need to prepare to do laundry on a non rainy day or that the person that will sleep in the lower level is able to come up the outdoor steps alone, if they need to come up at night. Great, quiet location. One of the cleanest rentals we've visited.

Turtle Shell Cottage

We had a fantastic stay at the Turtle Shell Cottage! The house has so many amenities and tons of toys and games..perfect for our kids (8,6,4) who enjoyed the house as much as the beach. Great location close just a short walk to the beach and next to lots of restaurants, stores and right next to an ice cream shop! Great communication with the owners who are so friendly. We hope to come back!

We Loved the Turtle Shell Cottage

We could not have been happier with the cottage. My whole family loved the property and all the extra amenities that came with. This place literally has everything you need to come and stay. All you need is groceries to fill the fridge. The owners were incredibly friendly and helpful. I loved the bed linens and the towels were wonderful. I highly recommend this cottage for any kind of vacation stay. We will definitely be rebooking.
