Great old school beach cottage in beautiful Kill Devil Hills. This one is not your typical beach box home. It has all the character of the fine homes built on the outer banks years ago. Knotty pine walls, floors, and ceilings are absolutely breathtaking. This home is located near milepost 10 which is almost middle of the outer banks ocean area. This area may also be refered to as the OBX (outer banks). You are close to EVERYTHING. 5 minute walk to the beach (across the street). 5 minutes to Nags Head, Kitty Hawk, Wright Brothers Memorial. A great day trip would be to drive down the beach and really see the best that the outer banks has to offer. Short drive through the Rodanthe, Waves, Salvo, and Hatteras areas takes you to the ferry and a 30 minute trip over to Ocracoke. This would really be an incredible day trip adventure.

Home has 3 full bedrooms (2 are extremely Over-Sized), 1 King Bed, 1 Queen, 1 double, and a Bunk bed that sleeps 3. Two full baths and and over sized outside shower as well. Pet friendly. Non-Smoking.

We provide comforters, pillows, and blankets but guests are required to bring their own sheets, towels, linens, and toiletries.

So lucky to snag this house!

Check in was simple, received a key and note in the mail from the homeowner who also verified we received it. We had previously stayed in hotels and were looking for something more cost effective that would accept pets. I was not sure we would find a place to rent in a short time, but so glad we did. The location is awesome, close to everything and only 1 block down and a block up to public access. The house was great, it was clean, beds are good, kitchen has plenty of cooking utensils and the homeowner Hal was attentive. Looking forward to future stays!

The location of this property is great and communication with the host is wonderful. Host even helped us with the return of property that we left behind. The check in was a bit awkward in that we received one single key in the mail(no keypad) which we had to hide outside and then mail back after our stay. The cleaners were so/so but the house is in need of a deep clean and some repairs. While the house itself is charming, the furniture is worn and needs cleaning. With a little TLC this could be an amazing property!

Bday Weekend Retreat

My wife and I along with some friends loved this home for our weekend trip. The house is in a perfect location being a short walk from multiple restaurants and the beach. This is a place we would easily stay at again. Hal the host was quick and responsive with his communication.

Delightful OBX Vacation!

Hal’s place was perfect for our nine person family! It was a short distance to the beach, shops and dining. We had an absolutely wonderful time and can’t wait to visit again!

Great place to stay!

This is our 2nd year staying here. It is a great place to stay. Nice, clean and has everything you need. Very convenient to everything and very close to the beach. The owners are very nice. We will be back next year!

Always an amazing stay!

We visit the beach house every year and we absolutely love it! We will never stay anywhere else! It’s super close to amazing restaurants and of course the beach! Our kids love the bunk beds and we love the swing on the porch! We will see you again next year!

Our favorite house on the OBX

We absolutely love visiting this house! We visit at least once a year and we won’t stay anywhere else. The rooms are spacious and our kids love the bunk beds. The outdoor shower is perfect after beach days. The swings outside are also a great beach house touch! The house is always so clean and super close to everything in KDH. Another amazing stay, until next year!

50th Birthday Girls Trip

We all had a wonderful time at the house! It is conveniently located to the beach, shopping an food. We loved the pizza place on the corner for late night dinners. The Island tye dye shop was a lot of fun too (and it is in walking distance). The house was comfortable and cozy and we all loved the porch swing at night. Hal was a wonderful host and sent recommendations for dining and things to do. We made some wonderful memories! Becky Hardner

Perfect family getaway

This was perfect for our family. So close to the beach you can almost taste the salt. Myself, husband and two advanced teens took the upstairs rooms and my in-laws stayed in the room on the main level. The outdoor shower is priceless all on its own so we were able to rinse off and not track sand throughout the house. The kitchen really does have enough cook-wear to cook every night if desired but if you prefer going out the central location is ideal. Sitting in the sea breeze on the deck was absolutely lovely. The neighborhood was quiet and it was very nice to walk the dogs on the streets and especially to take them for long walks on the beach. I can’t express what a wonderful time we had and most of it is because we had such a great place to stay!

family vacation

This classic OBX home was perfect for our stay. Great set up, plenty of room, great location (we could walk to the beach, to restaurants, and shopping. It's also centrally located to so many different activities) If we did drive, everything was within just a few miles or so. The neighborhood is quiet. Hal was fantastic at answering all our questions and offered advice on places to visit and to dine. The house is super adorable. We loved sitting in the swing outside. The beds were comfortable. We had plenty of room to all hang out (2 adults, 2 18 yr old boys, and 2 teenagers) in the main living area. One night we all sat down together at the table to play UNO since it was pouring out. We had a blast. We hope to return again someday! I definitely recommend this listing.

Ship Shape Property and Great Management Communications

I've been visiting OBX for going on 40 years and have rented a variety of properties. 204 Neptune is a great property and met our needs perfectly. First, there is walkable beach access within 2 blocks. Second, if you need to haul gear to the beach, there are plenty of free parking areas for beach access points up and down VDT road, literally dozens of options to get your gear and family to the beach. Third, multiple dining options within walking distance! This property is well stocked, it has everything you need for a great stay. The porch swing on the front deck became a favorite reading spot each evening after our time at the beach. The property is clean and FUN! Try it out, you'll want to come back next time around.

BEST OBX RENTAL IF YOU HAVE A FAMILY AND WANT TO BRING YOUR DOG!!!

First off, I was trying to book a beach house in the OBX on Airbnb for hours. I kept getting results that were NOT pet-friendly even after I specifically added PETS within the filter search from the start of my search,... So THANK YOU VRBO for actually giving results for a rental that actually accepted PETS. After refining my search results down to 3 rentals. I definitely hit the jackpot with this rental right in the Heart of OBX! I am from NJ/NY and never took a road trip down to NC OBX and let me tell you the drive was great and this rental is the perfect location in OBX to get around in. We never drove more than 20 min to get around to see all the spots from this rental. - The town of Corolla off-roading a jeep with my family to see 'Wild Mustangs' - Kitty Hawk dunes to fly kites and watch an amazing sunset - Parasailing in the town of Duck - H20Waterpark - Stack Em High pancake house - Endless restaurants What is also superb about this rental is the outdoor shower. Perfect for washing off the sand on us all, esp our Golden Retriever Buddy. The house is charming and is the perfect vibe for a beach house escape with the family. Miller's restaurant was great for the nights we didn't feel like driving to eat. Its one block towards the beach. After a few days, we soon realized that this rental and this road trip idea from North Jersey in a 12 passenger Transit Van is going to be an annual summer trip for my family. And the owner Hal is exactly what you want in an owner. Thanks again, Hal! Your house gave us our Summer 2018 highlight! We'll be back for sure!

Perfect Beach Getaway in Kill Devil Hills!We just returned from an amazing stay at this beautiful home and we can’t say enough good things about it! The house was clean, spacious, and had everything we needed for a relaxing beach vacation. The kitchen was perfect for cooking meals, and we loved starting our mornings on the deck with coffee.The location was perfect! Just a short walk to the beach and close to local shops, restaurants, and attractions like the Wright Brothers Memorial. The neighborhood was quiet and family-friendly, which made our stay even more enjoyable.The host was incredibly responsive and thoughtful, providing helpful tips for our trip and checking in to make sure everything was going smoothly. Kitchen was good, however, both bathroom curtain liners had mildew and the upstairs bathroom ceiling had mold. For the bedrooms, the pillows were yellow and the bunkbed was so squeeky, the kids had to share the queen bed. The listing did not mention we needed to bring sheets and towels, but were notified a few weeks prior we had to bring those items. The house also had no toilet paper or hand soap. Needed to go to the store right away just to have the basics. Good if traveling on a budget and you don't have to buy sheets to fit the beds.

Summer vibes

The day we closed on this property didnt seem real to either one of us. Now our kids Seth and Monica love it as much as we do. We usually try to get one week per year here as a family but enjoy sharing it with others thru VRBO!

This location is one of the best kept secret beaches in the world. Extremely friendly people, wide, non crowded beaches, and dozens of great places to eat.

What makes this property unique

Very close to the ocean but not on beach road or bypass which cuts down on traffic noise. Master has balcony with ocean views.
