Beautiful location!!

Gorgeous views, water access at Oak Bay. Cozy home with lots of windows. We had a great time here! You can hear the loons on the water at night. Very quiet and peaceful setting. Only a few minutes from Saint Stephen’s and Saint Andrew’s. Nearby attractions include Kingsbrae Gardens and the aquarium as well as Minister’s Island. Lots of local restaurants and shops. Two of the three bedrooms are upstairs in a loft and are only accessible by ladder. Driveway is steep and rutted so caution is advised.

Our stay at this cottage was not as pleasant as others have said in their reviews of this Vrbo rental. The problem we were having was mainly with the interior living space of this unit, we stayed for 5 nights.Problem areas of this cottage:a permanent bad odor of pet urine on the carpets made our stay in this cottage very unpleasant.overall flooring issues of weakened floor areas that are covered with plywood (underneath carpets)overhead lighting issues in kitchen and bathroomaccess to the two loft bedrooms are through a retractable ladder (attic type ladder) which is very narrow to get up and down from the loft area.outside area of the cottage has a very steep slope to the go down to the bay (water area)Overall, we enjoyed the areas of St-Stephens (10 minutes away from the cottage), but especially St-Andrews - which is about a 25-minute drive from the cottage. Also, we went to New River Beach which is towards Saint John area, and the New River Beach is spectacular, and a very beautiful beach!

The unit was not clean smelled of pet urine. The lights didn’t work in three of the rooms. Plywood stuck under matts where the floor was rotten. Bedroom door wouldn’t close. Photos used in vrbo booking do not show the ladder that you need to access top two bedrooms. Photos also don’t show the washed out driveway to get to unit and the log stairs used for access to the beautiful beach. Broken fluorescent tube from kitchen light beside fridge. Dishwasher doesn’t work and I don’t think it has worked for a very long time as buttons are missing and it’s taped shut. Let host know about the smell.

I am a transplanted Ontarian, living and loving New Brunswick for a number of years now. I am an Artist and Art Teacher and have always loved the water. Nature is a great inspiration! I am excited to share the unique Atlantic experience with people who enjoy being out in it.

Why they chose this property

Oak Bay is part of the Bay of Fundy and the St Croix river. It sits on 2.5 acres of forest with a variety of trees including White and Yellow Birch, Beech, Fir, Cedar and of course tall White Eastern Pines.
This part of Oak Bay has brackish water as the run offs from the land meet the sea.
There are no mud flats here which makes it a pleasure to launch a kayak, and watch the loons and bald eagles hunt and swim.
Lilyhill is a hidden gem 11 minutes from The town of St Stephen, 20 minutes from St Andrews, and an hour from Fredericton or St John.
You can go Whale watching, visit an Aquarium or a Chocolate Factory, play a round of mini golf, or relax and just feel the breeze.

What makes this property unique

Lots of wildlife and species of mushrooms and lichen and mosses permeate the property and it is a birders paradise.
Pileated, Hairy, and Downy Woodpeckers, as well as Hummingbirds, white and red breasted Nuthatch, Blue jays, Juncos, Doves, Osprey Belted Kingfishers, and many many more. Download the Merlin app and have a listen!
We also have grey and red Squirrels and Chipmunks, as well as red Fox, white tail Deer and Racoon. The call of the Loon is a wonderful way to wake up!
