About the host
Hosted by Kim and Tony

We’re originally from Ottawa, but most recently lived in Seattle and fell in love with the Pacific Northwest lifestyle. During COVID, we felt a strong pull to return to Canada and seek a slower, more intentional way of living. British Columbia—with its wild beauty and open space—felt like the perfect fit.
As a former engineer and urgent care nurse, we left our full-time careers to build a life rooted in sustainability, family, and nature. Hosting guests at WHOKA Orchards is part of that journey—we love sharing this land, our story, and a glimpse into the lifestyle we've chosen.

Why they chose this property
WHOKA Orchards is nestled on the peaceful south side of Wells Gray Provincial Park—known as Canada’s Waterfall Park with 41 named waterfalls waiting to be explored. We were drawn to this rural lakefront location for its natural beauty, quiet surroundings, and the sense of space and freedom it offers.
Each season here is distinct and brings its own magic—springtime blossoms, warm summer swims, golden autumn colors, and peaceful snowy winters. The tranquility, the wildlife, and the connection to nature make this place not just a getaway, but a lifestyle. It’s a perfect balance of seclusion and adventure, right on the doorstep of one of British Columbia’s most spectacular parks.

What makes this property unique
Welcome to our 255-acre waterfront haven in the heart of Roserim Valley, surrounded by majestic mountains on three sides. This natural amphitheatre not only offers breathtaking views but also provides shelter from passing storms, creating a peaceful, protected retreat.
Our land holds deep roots in the region’s history—it was originally homesteaded in the 1930s as part of a pioneering logging camp. The original barn from that era still stands proudly and remains in use today, connecting guests to the legacy of those who lived and worked here nearly a century ago.
Today, our property is a fully self-sufficient farm. Guests are invited to experience firsthand what off-grid, sustainable living feels like—perfect for those curious about the lifestyle or dreaming of starting their own journey toward self-reliance. Whether you're here for inspiration, connection, or just to unplug and unwind, our land offers an unforgettable escape into a simpler way of life.
