Crafted from cross-laminated mass timber, its warm, natural aesthetic is matched only by the panoramic alpine views framed by every window. It accommodates up to 16 people.

Step inside the vaulted-ceiling lounge and gather around the grand 10-seat dining table or sip wine at the scenic 4-seat bar counter overlooking the mountain horizon. Perfect for both family fun and serene escapes, the chalet features a dedicated kids’ lounge and play area, as well as a luxurious spa wing complete with a corner soaking tub, a dual rain shower with a rustic bucket pour, and a generous indoor sauna.

After a day on the slopes or trails, unwind by the dramatic 72" linear gas fireplace, soak in the outdoor hot tub, or grill dinner on the deck as the mountain air rolls in. Cliffhanger Chalet isn't just a place to stay—it's the next evolution of alpine comfort at Mt. Washington.

Thank you, Jeanne, for your review. Although I gave your group the highest rating in accordance with our house rules, unfortunately, several of those rules were not followed during your stay. Someone flooded the sauna, and I nearly damaged my vacuum cleaner while cleaning it because I did not expect to find water there. As you may have noticed, there is a clear sign beside the sauna heater asking guests not to add excessive water. I also found the shower drain channel unusually full of dirt, something I had never encountered before. This suggests that someone may have entered the shower area wearing outdoor shoes. Finally, we replaced the hot tub water immediately before your arrival. Unfortunately, after your stay, the water was left murky with floating debris, which appears to have resulted from the hot tub rules not being followed. We also noticed that three hand towels from the powder room were missing. However, I do not intend to charge you for them. That said, you did leave the house generally clean, and we appreciate that. Thank you again for staying with us.

Great property, amazing interior space. Well stocked kitchen. Bonus in that it had a BBQ I did not see listed. Kids loved the air hockey. Adults loved that it was downstairs. Garbage was a bit of a pain as the bins were stuffed full but overall would recommend.

I truly enjoy creating spaces where people can feel inspired, relaxed, and connected with nature. Hosting allows me to share these unique places with others, and I’m proud of the results.

Why they chose this property

I chose Mt. Washington because it’s beautiful year-round. In the winter, it offers world-class skiing and snowshoeing, and in the summer, it’s a gateway to endless adventures in Strathcona Park, Nymph Falls, and Comox Lake. The nearby ocean beaches add even more variety to the experience.

What I love most about this place is how it combines alpine scenery with coastal beauty. I enjoy soaking in the hot tub while watching the sunset, and at night, the sky fills with billions of stars—an unforgettable view.

What makes this property unique

One of only three homes built with cross-laminated mass-timber walls, this chalet is exceptionally durable, earthquake-resistant, and naturally healthy to stay in. I designed it as a modern take on the alpine retreat, with soaring interiors, two lounges, and a spa that features a sauna, a corner soaker tub, a dual shower, and even a refreshing shower bucket.

On the sundeck, the hot tub rises 20 meters above the ground—an unforgettable spot to soak while surrounded by alpine nature and sweeping views of Strathcona Park. Every room was carefully positioned to capture uninterrupted mountain scenery, not rooftops, thanks to the unique placement of the home on its lot. And with no neighbours to the west, you’ll have the sunsets all to yourself.
