The home is lovely and has some nice modern decor. The driveway to get in is very steep and narrow, and the turnaround to get out was very challenging to maneuver. We only attempted it with all wheel drive vehicles- we parked our low lying compact car elsewhere.

A true escape but be prepared
The Modern Old Fort Hideaway was lovely. The drive there in the dark was not. Be aware that you will need to drive many miles on curvy and very dark mountain roads to get there. Also the driveway is an issue if you have a sedan and do not have 4-wheel drive. We ended up parking in the neighbors driveway the first night because we did not want to risk getting stuck. The owner was very nice and promptly responded to my concerns about getting into the lockbox at the bottom/ gate of the mountain and when I had trouble with the back door lock and driveway. As long as you are prepared, you will enjoy the seclusion, view, hot tub and well-appointed cabin in Old Fort.
