About this property
Poutama - private and sunny house with views and a 10 min walk to town center.
Our accomodation is called "Poutama" - Steps
Please don't book this house if you are not comfortable / able to walk steps.
Once you've walked up the 47 steps from the carport to the entrance, you will be rewarded with privacy and a sun-filled tidy home that is a great base to have in Nelson.
The NW facing house offers views of the city and sea and the balcony is great for a sun-downer.
At this centrally located place, you will be only a 10 minute walk away from the inner city and just 500m down the road is a supermarket and the bus stop for the eBus to Tahunanui beach and the airport.
Enjoy the sun and birdsong in the garden with a private deck, a gas BBQ.
A front loading washing machine lives outside at the back of the house and a washing line is in the garden for you to use.
The living room is light and airy, has a smart TV and a stereo system with Bluetooth connectivity.
All bedrooms have blackout curtains and inbuilt wardrobes and extra hooks and benches. All the mattresses have a firm and a softer side and can be turned as desired; by default we have them on the softer side as this is what most guests have preferred.
Bedroom 1 has a queen bed, bedroom 2 has 2 single beds that can be connected to make a double bed and the smallest bedroom 3 has a single bed and underneath a pull-out trundle bed to sleep a sixth person - but with the trundle bed pulled out, it becomes a tight space.
The kitchen is equipped with electric cooking and oven, a microwave, toaster, sandwich maker, mixer and a filter coffee machine - but there is no dish washer.
The living room, dining and kitchen area is heated (or cooled) by a heat-pump, the bedrooms have thermostatically controlled electric infrared heating panels mounted to the ceiling that radiate a nice heat that feel like sun rays.
There is parking for one car in the carport next to the MX5 and plenty more free parking on the quiet road. A stair-climbing trolley is in the carport to assist with carrying heavy luggage or shopping up the stairs.
Your hosts, Kati and Arne, live next door and are more than happy to help with anything that makes your stay in Nelson more enjoyable; we live here since 24 years and know the area.

About the host
Your host

Your hosts are Kati, a massage therapist and Arne, a semi-retired marine engineer.
Originally from Germany, we call Nelson home since 24 years. We got to NZ on our sailing yacht and settled down here after our daughter was born while we were still cruising the Pacific and had our son a year after we settled here.
