About this property
Takaka. Paradise in Parapara, river across road, beach 5mins by car. Native bush
Nestled in 1.16 hectares of surrounding native bush, Paradise in Parapara is located directly across the road from Parapara river- the cleanest river in Golden Bay, spring fed with no farm run off, clear and ideal for swimming. The house is also only a 5 minute drive from Parapara beach, so you can have the best of both worlds.
Surrounded by lush trees and an impressive hillside with rock faces that impart a profound sense of peace and guardianship, the house has a rustic charm-all timber with beautiful rimu flooring throughout. The kitchen is fully equipped and is open to the living area, complete with views in every direction, out to the lawns, native bush and nearby Kahurangi National Park. A covered deck extends through French doors from the dining and living area creating the perfect place to BBQ in all weather or just relax and unwind listening to the many native birds; More pork, Shining Cuckoo, Kereru and Tui to name a few.
A special feature on this property is the Gold Miner's Hut which is original and left untouched from the Gold mining era of the early 19th century and contains many old artefacts.
The main house has 2 bedrooms and a very quaint Ruru cottage has the 3rd- with a fridge for keeping your wine cold or an early morning coffee, without disturbing anyone in the main house. It is situated approximately 30 metres from the main house.
There are also two carports to keep your car protected from the sun.
The property itself has several tracks through the native surrounds and views of the river from a lookout point that has a large flat rock to sit on. From this vantage point you can observe the feeling of the valley- the abundant bird song, the whispering wind, and the flow of the river.
Special Conditions:
No cleaning fee, however you must leave the house exactly as you found it. Kiwi's have a well respected tradition to clean properties before they leave them.
Linen and towels are not provided, duvets, blankets and pillows are provided.
Smoking outside only.
Strictly no fires outside.
Nearby attractions are;
-Golden Bay's National Parks. Just under an hour to both Abel Tasman and Kahurangi National Parks, offering world-class hiking, kayaking, fishing and scenic beaches.
-Local activities: Paddle boarding and kayaking in the nearby tidal lagoon or Parapara beach. Fishing in the river or sea-boat ramp. Historic goldfields and iron mines. Old gold workings from the 19th century are still visible, and the track up the river follows the water race that provided power for the historic paint factory working in the early days of the colony.
-Community&Amenities. 5 mins to the iconic Mussel Inn for live music and local Kai, 8 mins to Collingwood for essentials, cafes and local tavern, 15 mins to Takaka for full supplies and services. Nearby Milnthorpe park for more bush walks and beach access, Te Waikoropupu Springs 14.6 kms away.

About the host
Hosted by Lisa-Maria Perkins
Hi, we are from Nelson and have just bought this stunning property. We will be moving in soon, so it is very special to us and we are excited that we can share this experience with others before it becomes our home. We will eventually turn the sleep out into a fully self contained unit for hosting. We love exploring and Native birds and bush, the sea - how lucky to find this place which has all of that and more!
Enjoy, Paradise awaits...
