About the host
Hosted by Shelley Bowser
Dara and Shelley love the work of bringing these ancestral properties back to vibrancy and sharing their love for this place with anyone who will make the trip to experience how special it is.
Why they chose this property
This home is one of a cluster of homes arising from the first settlers in this location. William Canning and Caroline Canning settled here in the late 1700's.
The host Dara Bowser is a descendent of the Slater/Canning/Hatfield family and spent much of his childhood exploring the local woods and beaches.
After a business career in Ontario, Dara and his wife Shelley have returned home to enjoy their retirement.

What makes this property unique
Slater House is a Century Home, an example of Nova Scotia Residential Architecture constructed from the early 1800's until the mid 1900's. The home has features that are typical for these homes including staged construction and 'ships ladder' stairs.
This property is ideally situated as a home base to explore this spectacular region and the many "must see" museums, Geo-Sites and just plain spectacular views everywhere you look.
Several local tour operators offer guided walking, hiking, boating and kayaking adventures.
The home overlooks the Bay of Fundy and a 5 minute walk takes you to never ending pristine beaches that reveal the ocean floor every day, twice a day.
Spectacular sun rises and sunsets. Makes for great picture taking.
