About this property

Historic Miner's Cottage - Self Contained

Only 90 minutes drive from either Queenstown or Dunedin airports you will find the beautiful Roxburg Village and Dalton’s Deed which was built during the gold-rush era. The home is linked to Daniel Dalton, a miner who set sail from the U.K. Thanks to a unique Government scheme registered gold miners could secure residential land, but only if they built a home within two years. Daniel seized the opportunity. Around 1865 he built a humble single-room cottage at Scotland Street. In a surprising twist he registered the property under the name of his 13-year-old son, William. A decade later he added a second, slightly larger two-room cottage quietly expanding the family homestead.
Today guests can enjoy a comfortable stay with the sound of the Clutha river rushing past and beautiful mountain views.
I recently purchased the cottage and ongoing upgrades and changes will be made to allow guest a relaxing visit in a cottage where history meets comfort and luxury.
There are numerous cycle trails in and around Roxburgh and we are only one street back from the Roxburgh cycle trail. Bikes can be hired in the village. Fruit orchards are in abundance for fresh fruit when in season.
Please note this property is not suitable for children under the age of 6 years.
