The Space:
Tiny Away Benger Garden is a 155-square-foot tiny home in Ettrick, nearby Lake Onslow, and an hour's drive from Kawarau Gorge. The ideal countryside escape in inland Otago, nestled on 5 hectares of wonderfully planted gardens at Benger Garden Cafe & Chalets, with panoramic views of Mt. Benger.

It's one of the finest tiny homes in New Zealand, just an hour's drive from Central Otago, passing through the picturesque towns of Roxburgh, Cromwell, and Alexandra.

A comfortable accommodation with a queen-sized bed up in the loft, a couch on the ground floor, and easy access to clean drinking water from the tap. It has split air conditioning, a kitchenette, cooking equipment, and excellent bathroom facilities. This includes an eco-friendly cassette toilet with a removable waste holding tank, a hand basin, and a gas-heated shower for hot showers.

If you plan to spend your tiny house NZ escapes here, you can order food from a nearby café/restaurant and have it delivered to your tiny house (by prior arrangement with your host).

IMPORTANT NOTE: Please advise that there will be other guests on the property—where a second tiny house sits on the same property. If you want to book in groups, please contact your land host 24 hrs in advance to make arrangements.

Guest Access:
Guests will have access to the tiny house, the outside garden, and the laundry, which will need advance notice from the land host. On the other hand, guests have restricted access to the garden of the host's private property.

The Neighborhood:
Tiny Away Benger Garden sits in the quiet suburbs of Ettrick, just an hour's drive from Central Otago past by charming towns of Roxburgh, Cromwell, and Alexandra. It's one of the finest tiny homes for exploring local fruit and veggie stalls in Millers Flat, and even the popular gallery at Roxburgh.

Our local recommendations:

- Pinders Pond is a tranquil place to camp and swim. Alternatively, you can also find heated pools in Roxburgh or Miller Flat if you're interested.

- Mt Benger has spectacular views over Roxburgh/Ettrick Valley. A high tussock grassland plateau, which can be quite foggy depending on the weather.

- Kawarau Gorge is nestled in the heart of Otago, with several popular attractions, including Goldfields Mining Centre, Felton Road Wines, and Goldfields Jet.
- Clutha Trail is the perfect cycling trail that winds through native woodlands, mountains and rivers. You can also arrange a drop off and pick up for a small fee of $20 with the host.

Epic stay in Ettrick
The tiny house was well tiny.. It was clean and tidy and well designed by we found the sleeping space was too close to the eves which made getting in and out tricky and a wee bit hairy in the middle of the night. On the third night we moved to one of the Challets, which was pretty special. Cool design and outdoor bath. Good brekkies included.
