About this property

The 1951 at Farm Two53 | Saltwater Pool, Wood-Fired Hot Tub & Sauna, Sleeps 14

Welcome to The 1951.

A 75-year-old farmhouse, a wood-fired hot tub, a few barn cats, big Alberta skies, and more vintage charm than any reasonable person needs.

The 1951 sits at the heart of Farm Two53, our 80-acre regenerative farmstead in the Alberta Foothills. We've spent the last several years restoring the farmhouse while slowly bringing the rest of the farm back to life. Some projects have been completed. Others are still waiting their turn. Such is farm life.

Inside you'll find seven bedrooms, authentic mid-century interiors, vintage collections, gathering spaces made for long conversations, a theatre room, and enough room for 14 people to settle in and stay awhile.

Guest favourites include our indoor saltwater pool, wood-fired hot tub, wood-fired sauna, cold plunges, and newly poured pickleball court. Morning coffee tastes especially good when percolated on the original 1952 range while the Rockies come into view.

Fresh farm eggs may be waiting on the counter. The barn cats may stop by to inspect your character. Wildlife comes and goes as it pleases.

A quick note: we also live on the farm in a separate residence away from The 1951. While we respect our guests' privacy, you may see us tending livestock, gardening, fixing fences, or tackling whatever farm life throws our way that day.

Before you book, a few things worth knowing:

Farm Two53 is a real farmstead, not a resort. While we've lovingly restored the farmhouse interiors, restoration continues on the exterior of The 1951 and throughout portions of the farmyard and surrounding buildings.

If you're looking for polished luxury, concierge service, or perfectly manicured grounds, we may not be your place.

But if you appreciate character, history, hospitality, western heritage, and places with a story to tell, we'd be honoured to welcome you through our farm gates.

For everyone's safety, guest access is limited to designated areas surrounding The 1951 and its amenities. Barns, outbuildings, livestock areas, and gated portions of the farm are not open for guest exploration.

We welcome families, but this is still a working farm. Between the pool, ponds, creeks, livestock, wildlife, wood-fired amenities, and the occasional misplaced farm tool, active supervision of children is essential.

Our pool, hot tub, sauna, and cold plunge amenities are unsupervised and used at guests' own risk.

Interested in regenerative agriculture? Ask us about our guided farm tours available for an additional fee.

One final note: commercial photography, filming, workshops, and events are not permitted with accommodation bookings.

Farm Two53 has been collecting stories for more than 75 years. The farmhouse was once slated for demolition and we're honoured to be its third caretakers.

Our chapter is one of restoration—of land, buildings, and traditional homesteading skills. We believe in lingering over good conversation, taking our hats off at the table, watching sunsets with a warm Pyrex mug in hand, and stopping every now and then to smell the wild Alberta roses.

The restoration isn't finished, and neither are we. That's our story.

Strip any used beds and gather used towels
Remove personal items, remove leftover food and drinks and take out the rubbish

Wonderful views of the Alberta foothills. Very spacious having enough sleeping and bath spaces for 14 people. Two kitchens were very helpful as one family member has celiac disease and must avoid all gluten; even crumbs will make her ill. She and family used one kitchen to keep her food safe. Having a large heated indoor pool on site was a true luxury. Tour of the farm was so fun for the children and informative for the adults. Pickle ball court and bean bag toss was extra fun for all.

Thanks for staying with us, Catherine! You and your family were dream guests - kind, quiet, respectful, and took great care of our property during your stay. We’re especially grateful for how clean the house was left. Catherine was also gracious enough to provide us with some very helpful feedback, which we’ve already tackled. Thanks again for staying with us - we’d gladly welcome you and your family back in the future!
