Rising Sun is a peaceful mountain retreat located in the Mt. Mitchell Golf Course Community of Western North Carolina. (Golf course is currently closed) Nestled on 10 private wooded acres at 3,200 feet elevation, this home offers sweeping views looking up the South Toe River valley towards Roan Mountain Tennessee! Our home has modern amenities and convenient access to outdoor adventures. The South Toe/Mount Mitchell Lands area is 30 minutes from Burnsville, 1 hour from Asheville and 2 1/2 hours from Charlotte.

Take in stunning long-range views of Roan Mountain (TN) and the Black Mountain Range, including Mount Mitchell, the highest peak east of the Mississippi. Enjoy the views from the covered deck, or unwind in the private hot tub, positioned perfectly for both sunrise and stargazing.

This was our second stay at this beautiful home, and somehow it was even better than the first. From the moment you walk in, you’re greeted with the most breathtaking mountain views, whether you’re enjoying your morning coffee, relaxing on the couch, or watching the sunset light up the sky, it never gets old.The home itself is the perfect mix of cozy and spacious. It was incredibly clean, well-stocked, and had everything we needed to feel right at home. We especially loved the large windows and deck area, such a peaceful place to unwind and take in the scenery.Our family had the best time here, from relaxing inside to exploring nearby and just enjoying being together. Even our pup felt right at home! It’s clear the owners put a lot of care into making this a comfortable and welcoming space.One thing to note, our older daughter was still able to get Uber Eats deliveries, which was a nice surprise in such a mountain location. With some road closures during our stay, deliveries and travel took a little longer, but everything still worked out just fine.We’re already talking about coming back again, this has officially become one of our favorite getaway spots. Highly recommend to anyone looking for a peaceful, scenic, and truly relaxing stay!

One our best vacations ever!

We had an amazing time for our family trip with me, my husband, and our 3 adult daughters and their spouses! The Troutmans were fabulous to work with and immediately answered any questions we had when making the reservations and for our trip. The home was amazing. Beds were super comfy. Everything was pristine clean. The hot tub was a great way for everyone to relax after a long hike to the Catawba Falls. Then we have the amazing view from the back deck. Unbeatable beauty. The house had everything you needed. Fully stocked kitchen, plenty of towels in the bathrooms, plenty of seating for everyone to hang out together. Literally the only complaint I have is the curtains in the bedrooms on the main floor not covering the windows all the way. The deck wraps around in front of the bedroom window and didn't allow much privacy when changing clothes while other people in our group were outside on the deck. Not a super huge deal and could be easily fixed with one more curtain panel. But if a curtain was the only thing I was concerned about then I'd say we hit the jackpot with this stay. We would absolutely stay again. We weren't far away from the things we wanted to do like hiking and touring the Linville Caverns. We had the absolute best time and it far surpassed our expectations.

The Mt Mitchell area is a premier spot in the Western NC region. There are gorgeous views of the mountain ranges in all 4 directions. This property sits on 10 acres and has ready access to limitless outdoor adventures. Clean cool water rivers and waterfalls abound throughout the area and it is accessable for travel, within 10 minutes of the parkway and within 40 minutes to interstates for easy travel through the state or region. The local town of Burnsville is full of character and charm, hosting a local brewery and impressive eateries. The bigger city of Asheville is close with a booming with the arts, entertainment and amazing food.
