Cozy and Historic Holiday Cottage near Mercury Bay, South Island

This holiday rental is a renovated gold miner's cottage located near Whitianga on New Zealand’s North Island. The cottage can accommodate up to four guests, making it the perfect place for a family getaway to some of the North Island’s most incredible nature and safe beaches.



The cottage has three bedrooms in total—the master bedroom has a lovely queen-size bed, and the second and third have single beds. In the bathroom, guests will find a walk-in shower and there is a separate toilet. There is also a cozy sitting room to relax in, as well as a fully-equipped kitchen with everything guests might need to prepare a hearty evening meal, including a fridge-freezer, an oven, and a microwave.



Outside, guests will enjoy having access to a large garden with access to a picnic area. There is also an idyllic stream that runs through the 18-acre property, making it the perfect location for a peaceful, soothing stroll.



Glampers staying at this property will be able to truly make the most of their location as they will have access to some high-tech astronomy equipment that will add a new dimension to nights spent looking up at the stars. Indeed, the property’s rotating observatory dome is home to Coromandel Peninsula’s largest telescope which all curious guests will have access to and will receive a complimentary stargazing tour (weather permitting).



There is no mobile phone coverage or Wi-Fi in the Miners Cottage. Wi-Fi can be accessed at the nearby Observatory Lodge if necessary.
