About this property

Termini Imerese between Cefalu and Palermo, spacious, a short walk to the beach.

Off the beaten track, yet close to everything. From our spacious house in the historic center of Termini Imerese, the beach, shops, fruit vendors, grocery stores, cafés, restaurants, and the train station are all within walking distance. Palermo with its vibrant night life, beautiful churches and opera house is only a short train ride away. So is Cefalu, with its perfect sandy beaches and gorgeous old town, well known from the series White Lotus. Most places in Sicily are easily reachable within two to three hours by car.
Our house is located in Via Roma, the most beautiful street in town. From the rooftop terrace you have a 360 view of town, the sea and the harbor. The three bedrooms and two of the bathrooms are one the second floor, one ensuite. The third bathroom is on the first floor, where you will also find the two large living rooms, the kitchen and the dining room. Two large hallways, one on each floor, are also furnished with sofas.
Beware that to get to the third bedroom, you will have to pass through one of the others.
We have plenty of fans in the house, but no airconditioning. We prefer to let the sea breeze pass through the house. There is no central heating, so in the winter months you should bring warm clothes and slippers as it does get a bit chilly.
The stairs are a bit steep, and there are balconies in every room and a roof top terrace. It is not ideal for small children, who should be supervised at all times.
Enjoy your breakfast on the roof top, or enjoy a cappucino with a pistacchio-filled brioche at one of the cafés in town. Take a stroll to the beach or venture up the stairs of Via Roma to enjoy the view from Termini Alto and Belvedere. Take a walk in the park with the Palmieri ruins, and make sure you visit the memorial plaque of the Italian heroes Falcone and Borsellino. You could also join the locals in Termini Basso for some shopping before lunch. Do not miss the cutest bookstore just down the street from our house. Then buy some fresh bread and fruit for a lunch at home, or eat at a restaurant or cafe before taking a siesta.
Enjoy an aperitivo with snacks in the afternoon, and again you will notice the town comes to life in Termini Basso. Dine at home on fresh produce, or eat out. Dress up and join the locals for a passeggiata along the Belvedere, and stop for a gelato with a view. Do not miss out on the pistacchio gelato!
On Friday mornings you can enjoy the hustle at the local market by the harbor, where they sell everything from clothes to kitchen products and dog supplies, to fresh fruit, fish and meat. After you pass through the market, you end up at Café Opera, perfect for breakfast, lunch or just a drink.
Take the train to the touristy but gorgeous old town of Cefalu, with its long stretch of sandy beach. Or to Palermo for the Sunday thrift market, or the everyday food markets, or just to enjoy the atmosphere.
Drive up to Corleone for a guided tour about the mafia at the CIDMA museum (book in advance), or take a drive through the beautiful mountains of Madonie, stopping in the beautiful towns of Castelbuono and Petralia Soprana on the way. Take a day trip out to the gorgeous islands of Levanzo or Favignana (book ferry tickets in advance in the summer), or to Agrigento´s valley of the temples for some of the best preserved greek temples. Do not miss the Villa Romana del Casale with the most amazing ancient Roman mosaics.
Take a drive around Etna, the highest mountain in Sicily, and the most active volcano in Europe. Make a stop in Paterno for a visit to the Norman castle, and in Bronté for the best pistacchios in Sicily.
If you love shopping, Sicilia Outlet Village is about an hour away, with high-end brands such as Armani, Moschino and Dolce and Gabbana.

I am Norwegian, living and working in Norway. I have fallen completely in love with Sicily, and I go there whenever I get some time off.

Why they chose this property

I first discovered Termini Imerese through a Swedish television series. On our first visit to Sicily, we only got to see Termini Imerese, fell in love with our house, and we have not regretted our choice.
We have since travelled the island, and seen so many other gorgeous towns, but we still prefer Termini, with the beautiful Monte San Calogero and with its Belvedere with a stunning view of the coastline. On a clear day you can see Cefalu in the distance, as well as several of the Aeolian Islands.
Termini Imerese is not a tourist town, which means it is just as lively in winter as in summer. We love walking through the narrow paths in the historic center, going for a morning swim in the clear waters from our town beach, or enjoying a gelato at Belvedere while watching the ferry from Genoa arrive.
Termini is centrally located on the Island of Sicily, close to Palermo with all its cultural activities, including the largest opera house in Sicily. We are also close to the more touristy town of Cefalu, and to stunning beaches both to the east and west of our town.
The train station is only a short walk from our house, which means we do not really need a car when visiting.
As we are close to the intersection of the major highway routes A19 and A20, we can reach the most distant places on the island in 2-3 hours by car, which means day trips are possible to just about anywhere. It does not matter if we fly to Palermo or to Catania, they are only one and two hours by car, respectively.

What makes this property unique

Our house is very large and spacious, with two living rooms, a separate dining room, large bedrooms, large bathrooms, two large hallways where you can relax on a sofa, and eleven balconies. We have a roof top with clotheslines and a panorama view of the town, the harbor, the mountain and the sea. The lower roof top terrace has mountain views.
The beds are of Scandinavian comfort, and the furniture is exclusive. The central location means you can walk to cafés and restaurants for all your meals, if you do not feel like cooking on holiday. If you like cooking, our kitchen has excellent amenities and a large stove.
All our plates and glasses are bought in antique stores.
As we do not have air condition, the house feels healthy and fresh, with open windows and the sea breeze and fans to cool you off.
