About this property

Visit The Good Life on Lake Gaston! 5 bedrooms with kayaks, SUPs, pedal boat.

Welcome to "The Good Life!" THIS IS A VACATION DREAM! Conveniently located, spacious lakefront home with level lot, mature trees and small private beach in popular Pea Hill Creek on the Northeast quadrant of Lake Gaston. This 2-level, pet friendly home is designed with families in mind and is the perfect location for annual family reunions or vacations! Come visit "The Good Life" and see what lakefront vacations are all about!

THE OUTSIDE DETAILS:
Let’s face it. You don’t come to Lake Gaston for the house… you come for the setting and all that the lake has to offer! Whether you want to relax or play, this property has everything you need! For those of you who want to relax, come enjoy the beautiful view of the lake from the Adirondack chairs on the dock, sway in the hammock under the trees, or swing in one of the double swings on the small, private beach.

The swimming area is protected from the hustle and bustle of the main lake and is the perfect place for swimming and boating. The water is shallow near the edge of the property for younger children to stand in and swim. The water level is 3-4 ft near the dock and gets deeper as you head toward the main lake. We have two paddle boards, six kayaks (five singles and one double) and a pedal boat for our guests to enjoy. We have multiple “old school” orange life jackets, but please bring your own if possible. There are lots of areas to safely explore by kayak or paddle board, including a little island called "Halley Rock." If you decide to rent a boat (or bring your own), we have a boat dock that you can dock up to. And for all of you who love to fish - Pea Hill Creek (and Lake Gaston in general) offers some of the best fishing in the state!

The yard is certainly worth mentioning as it truly feels like a special place. The large, mature trees provide ample shade and respite from the sun. We have an outdoor shower, picnic table, corn hole, a horseshoe pit, a fire pit and a big field for yard games! Feel free to bring your own games! We also have a large, gas grill outside for grilling.

This is truly one of the best coves on the lake! The main lake is just a few minutes away by boat. The Pea Hill Creek boat ramp is less than 2 miles away, as is the Lake Gaston Golf Course! One of the best things about Lake Gaston is that it’s in a beautiful, quiet, charming, rural area. There are no big box stores here! Our home is conveniently located with access to local restaurants, the Food Lion, an ice cream shop, mini golf, multiple marinas, boat rentals, bait shops, gas stations and more.

THE HOUSE DETAILS…
MAIN FLOOR: The main floor has an open floor plan and is a perfect space for entertaining large groups! There is a fully stocked kitchen and huge dining table that seats 10 comfortably. There are three additional seats at the counter. The kitchen is loaded with dishes, cutlery, pots, pans, bakeware, serving trays, bowls, storage containers, strainers, pitchers, drinkware, etc. There are also tons of “extras,” including a microwave, crock pot, blender, toaster, Keurig, a drip coffee pot, tea kettle, mixer, meat slicer, etc. ***Wondering if a particular item is available in the kitchen? Please message me for clarification.

The spacious family room offers comfortable seating and a large 55” TV.. The family room and kitchen open out to the huge upper deck with lots of comfortable seating and great views of the lake and backyard! On this one deck alone, there are three seating areas: sink into the comfortable chairs in the covered deck area with ceiling fan, do some bird watching from the rocking chairs under the canopy of the trees, or enjoy a meal on the small outdoor table! We regularly see a pair of bald eagles and flying squirrels from the back deck; it's incredible! There is also a lower deck that offers another great area for enjoying the beautiful outdoors with additional comfortable patio seating, providing you with multiple areas to spend time with your family and friends.

Back to the main level… There are three bedrooms upstairs: one master bedroom with a king-sized bed and private bath, one bedroom with a queen-sized bed, and one bedroom with two twins. There is a hall bathroom on this level with a tub/shower combo. All bedrooms have smart TV’s, alarm clocks, dressers and spacious closets.

LOWER LEVEL: The lower level is stocked with entertainment. There is an 8’ Olhausen pool table, a foosball table, tons of games and puzzles, a large TV for movies or watching the game, and multiple areas for relaxing. The lower level has two bedrooms: one with a king-sized bed and the other with two bunk beds (one double and three twins); there is also a pull out sofa in the main area. There is a full bath with a tub/shower combination. There is also a laundry room on this level with a full-sized washer and dryer for your use.

WHAT MAKES THIS PROPERTY UNIQUE? This house does not feel like a rental property… it feels like home. The furnishings are high quality, the beds are extremely comfortable, the kitchen is fully stocked… All you have to do is walk in the door and you have all you need to be able to relax and enjoy your lakefront vacation. We treat our guests like friends and are always available if you have questions or concerns. We have confidence that you will love this home as much as we do! What an amazing place!!

We stayed here over the 4th of July weekend. It was a total of 10 of us, 2 families with an extra teenagers). We had plenty of space and things to do!! The backyard is flat and nicely kept. We did some dock fishing and caught a 4 lb catfish one night!! We had a boat and had plenty of room to park and still be able to play in the lake and use the kayaks!! The SUP boards were a big hit as well as the noodles and other floats that were available. Nice little quiet area in the cove. The owners were amazing providing updates when we lost the power. Highly recommend!! Already planning another trip!

Outstanding Experience!

This is a wonderful place to stay for a large family. The weather was bad for almost our entire trip but the house is so spacious that we never felt cooped up or right on top of each other. The house was very clean and well stocked. Chad and Holly are fantastic hosts and have created a very cozy home that they share. Very much enjoyed our stay!

Great rental home on Lake Gaston

My family had a great time at Lake Gaston and this home was the perfect choice. Plenty of space, very well stocked kitchen essentials, clean and lots of water toys to enjoy. The owners responded promptly with Amy questions I had. I would definitely rent this home again.

Communication with Holly is excellent, she is extremely responsive. We had a very smooth process and found the house by car and by boat very easily. Just out of the cove is a great area for waterskiing and tubing, we had a great time.

Great hosts and house

The property is great and the hosts were the best VRBO hosts we have ever had. They communicated to us and they got back to us promptly if we had a question. They provided very specific instructions and the use of the kayaks, etc. was great. They also have a pool table and a foosball table which is very fun and many outdoor spaces to hang out.

Father's Day 2024

My husband was able to spend quality time with his adult sons and their spouses to celebrate Father's Day, reminisce about growing up, and make new memories. We all kayaked, grilled, and sat on the dock to watch the stars come out. Couldn't have been better.

Excellent property and location

Our family getaway was amazing. We spent hours on the water in fishing kayaks, and came away with well over 80 fish on the week. The property was an excellent location for kayak fishing, and just a great location overall for a relaxing week. We could not have asked for a better place to spend some time off. The house was clean and cozy! The owners were great and ensured that we had a great time staying at their place. Definitely recommend this property to anyone looking to have a waterfront getaway!

Great place!

We are a big family and our pup goes everywhere we go. We enjoyed the home, we had space upstairs for adults and space for the kids to play downstairs. The lake was great and the kayaks were a favorite. We enjoyed meeting the neighbors, I think that important! We had everything we needed in the home. Thank you!

Amazing Family Retreat

This was our second visit to this incredible lake house, and it was just as wonderful as our first. Returning to this lovely home felt like coming back to a cherished family retreat. The panoramic lake views from the deck are absolutely mesmerizing, and the house is impeccably clean and welcoming. The hosts have truly created a haven here, with thoughtful touches throughout, from the well-stocked kitchen to the comfortable beds. We enjoyed every moment, from early morning coffee on the porch to stargazing at night. It's the perfect spot for both adventure and relaxation. It fits our family of 8 beautifully with young grandchildren. Holly is so accommodating and responds very quickly. Highly recommend this gem to anyone looking for a peaceful, rejuvenating escape!

Awesome Place

The house was great for a family vacation! There is plenty of room for everyone to spread out especially outside on the two covered decks. The location back in the cove along with the ability to walk in to the the lake was just perfect, especially for our little grandchild. The house is very well equipped with supplies both inside and outside. The kayaks and paddle boat are a nice touch as the water is so calm and peaceful there. Overall, a great family time and wonderful place to spend it!!

Wonderful home!

This place feels like home. It was very well stocked and not stripped down like most rentals. We loved all the watercraft toys that were provided! The yard was nice and large. The sandy area was more just dirt and not beachy and there is quite a bit of grass growth in the water where the main stairs come in, but still tons of water to swim in. Owners were very friendly and communicative. Lake was beautiful and we had a wonderful visit! We had a wonderful week.

Family Vacay 2022

This was our second year staying at "The Good Life". It fits our family (2 sons, 2 daughters-in-law, and 4 grandchildren) very well. We love the level lot and shady areas. Pretty area. Nice dock for your boat and we enjoyed the kayaks, paddle boards and paddle boat. We also love feeding the fish by the dock. Our 7 year old granddaughter caught her first fish off the dock (with grandpa's help).

Really is “the good life”

We had a lovely family vacation and are already looking at dates to book next summer! The property is wonderful with lots to do. We got plenty of use out of the kayaks, paddle boards and paddle boat. We enjoyed lots of fishing from the dock and from the kayaks. Our 2 year old loved the private beach and being able to get in easily to the lake. We love that the place was dog friendly as we brought along 2 labs who did lots of swimming. The kitchen was well stocked which made cooking easy. The owner, Holly was very helpful with lots of info before arriving and quickly responded if we had any questions! I would highly recommend!

Vacation for family of 10

Beautiful home that sits in a private cove with its own private dock. It easily accommodated a family of 10 with pets. Owners were very polite and helpful with us being unfamiliar with the area. Didn’t have a lot of luck fishing from the dock, but we all thoroughly enjoyed ourselves out on the lake. We had our own boat, but would highly recommend renting one if you dont have one. Dinner out on the lake was a hit with Latitude’s , which was just around corner. The Point at Lake Gaston was a total let down and we ended up leaving without being served, but that has no reflection on the owners of this property and they were even very apologetic for our bad experience. We booked the house for 2023 the day we checked out.

We loved our stay and would definitely come back! We rented the house for our mom's 70th birthday. We had two senior citizens, two adult siblings and spouses, and children ages 3 weeks - 17 years old. The stairs to get upstairs were a little difficult for our parents but once they got to the living room and saw the view, they didn't want to leave. We were surprised with snow fall and it felt like we were in a snow globe. The house was great. Holly communicated every step fantastically. If the weather was better, we would have been very entertained with what is offered outside. The Food Lion and Lake Gaston Pizza were a short drive away. We would love to come back and stay again.

Beautiful House on Lake Gaston

We had a wonderful family Thanksgiving at this beautiful, well decorated lake house. Very well equipped, the house had everything we needed for a complete traditional Thanksgiving dinner, and a well stocked kitchen. A bonus was the dining table that would easily seat ten. Multiple decks over looked a beautiful back yard and the scenic lake. Plenty to do and plenty of space for group fun or just relaxing. A pool table, foosball, corn hole, horseshoes, six kayaks, two paddle boards, a paddle boat and more. We did kayak, but being November, we did not go in the water. While we are past that stage, there was plenty of stuff for families with younger children - high chair, child gates, games and toys. The hosts provided information about the area and the house before we arrived, and checked in with us during our stay. All in all, we had a very nice, relaxing and restorative four days. We will have to come back again in the summer….

Great Family Vacation!!!!

First of all, I would like to thank Holly and Chad for sharing their lake house with our family. They are wonderful hosts. Anytime I had a question, Holly responded in a timely manner. She was so helpful in sending me information regarding our trip and things to see and do when we got there. This was our first time staying in this area so any information was valuable. The house was spacious for the 12 of us and offered plenty of room to move around, entertain, and have a great time. We loved all the seating areas and used them all. Plenty of games and the pool table was a big hit. We cooked all of our meals at the house so we really appreciated the well-stocked kitchen. I love to cook and most kitchens lack pots, pans, utensils and such, but not this one. Everything you need to serve up a great meal was there. The outside area is wonderful. They offer kayaks, paddleboards, peddle boats and some floating devices were there. It all got used. We were lucky and had great weather, mostly in the 90's so the lake water felt so good. It averaged 80-85 degrees the whole time. The kids could jump right in the water. It is not real deep by the dock so that was nice for the grandchildren (ages 9-13). It is sandy below your feet and as for adults you can walk out quite far before it gets too deep. The walk to the lake is nice and flat and offers seating along the way and even had a hammock to lay in. There is a fire pit we used to do smores and the gas grill was clean and ready to use. We caught so many fish by the dock and out in the lake. They caught some very large catfish also. Our son-in-law brought his boat and we tied that up at the boat house. We chose this lake house so we could get all of our children and grandchildren together from 3 different states ( about 3-4 hour drive for each of us so it was a perfect place for all of us to meet ) and create new memories. The "Good Life" certainly helped us do just that. We all had an absolute blast and hope to return again. Thank you again Holly and Chad for being such great hosts. We will return!!!!!!

We are from New England (Massachusetts) but fell in love with Lake Gaston during a vacation in the spring of 2020. We've always dreamed of having a lake house and LKG is the perfect spot! We love the beautiful landscapes and always feel so incredibly relaxed when we're there. Most of all, though, we love spending quality time with our family and friends. We have three kids and we all love to tube, fish, swim, kayak, paddle board, etc... basically, we take advantage of any opportunity to get out on the water! Lake Gaston is such a special place; we can't wait to share it with you!
