About this property

Historic two bedroom house in Old Town Steamboat Springs. Quiet neighborhood.

My wife and I remodeled the home in 2019 and is a charming vacation get away. It has two bedrooms, one on each floor, 2 1/2 baths, large entry, dining area, living room, kitchen and beer on tap. The Spruce Nest is on a dead-end street. However, near the end of the street is a trail that follows Butcher Knife Creek and leads to a dog park several blocks away. Downtown is about a 10-minute walk, leading to many stores, restaurants, and the 'Yampa River. Strawberry Park Natural Hot Springs and access to Buffalo Pass is about a 15 to 20-minute drive. You'll love the location. Quiet and close to everything.

We now have a 50-Amp Electric Vehicle car charging station for quick charging.

Have a large group or another family that you would like to spend time with? We now offer the Aspen Grove, a short-term rental attached to the back of the Spruce Nest. It also sleeps 5, has two bedrooms and 2 1/2 baths, kitchen, living and dining area and large deck. And, there is a lockable adjoining door between the two units, so no need to go outside to visit. You must book both places at the same time. You can search for VRBO # 318705 for the Aspen Grove listing.

Don't see the dates you want? Try our other listing at the Aspen Grove. You can search for VRBO # 318705 for the Aspen Grove listing.

If you are a single or single couple and only don't use one bedroom and bath, you will receive a $50 refund for our house cleaners not having to clean that area! After you leave, we will make sure nothing was used in one bedroom and bath. If the sheets and bath are unused, I will refund you $50. It's that simple.

I moved to Steamboat Springs in 1979 because of the beauty of the surrounding area, outdoor activities and good economic potential. So far, I have not been dissatisfied. My wife and I love riding ATVs in the summer, hiking and rafting down the Yampa. We would like to share The Spruce Nest with you special places to see, feel and experience. Like the Hot Springs.

Why they chose this property

My wife and I purchased this property about 25 years as a long term rental. In 2018 we decided to remodel it, yet keep the historic character. We left the two-story building intact, added and entry, master bed room and bath, powder room/laundry and dining area. We also remodeled the kitchen and added a beer tap. There is all new furniture and carpet. The exterior was also re-landscaped. It's got a great location - 10 minute walk from downtown and on a dead-end street near the edge of town. What more could be better? Come and see for yourself!

In the spring/summer 2022, we will be remodeling the back portion of the duplex for a vacation rental. It will have two master bedrooms/baths on the ground floor, with the living room, kitchen and powder bath on the second floor. A partially covered deck will complement the living space on the second floor. A carport with a covered walkway will provide protection from rain/snow from the parking area to the unit for all seasons. It should be available late summer 2022.
