About this property
1BR Luxury Suite in Historic Downtown Charleston
Summary:
The Charlestonian's second-floor suite sleeps 2 guests in the heart of historic downtown Charleston, three blocks from King Street and surrounded by the most celebrated dining in the South. This 1851 antebellum estate offers a private porch overlooking Cannon Street, an open-plan kitchen and living room, high-speed WiFi, in-unit washer/dryer, and parking for one vehicle. Incredible for walking to CofC, MUSC, and world-renowned shopping and dining on King St. and surrounding historic downtown.
The Space:
The suite occupies the second floor of The Charlestonian, a fully restored 1851 antebellum estate in Cannonborough, one of downtown Charleston's most walkable and vibrant neighborhoods. The queen bedroom, bathroom, an open-plan kitchen and living room, private porch, in-unit laundry, dedicated workspace, and complimentary on-premises parking make this one of the most complete stays available on the Charleston peninsula. The second-floor layout gives you an elevated view over Cannon Street from a private porch, separation between the social living space and the private bedrooms, and one-of-a-kind architectural character that no hotel in Charleston can replicate.
*Please note this rental is located on the second floor and only accessible by spiral staircase. Absolutely no parties or late-night noise will be tolerated.
Operating Permit: OP2026-07476
Guest Access:
This suite has access to complimentary parking for one vehicle, the large front porch with exclusive, dedicated seating, a private rear porch, and patio with Green Egg charcoal grill with charcoal. The suite is accessed via a beautiful original spiral staircase, a signature architectural detail of The Charlestonian's 1851 construction. Please note the second-floor location is not suitable for guests with significant mobility limitations or those traveling with very young children, our Kiawah Suite on the ground floor of the house is perfect for those guests.
The Neighborhood:
Visitors can enjoy convenient dining options directly next door at Southbound and Ladles Soup across from the apartment. The home is set in Cannonborough, an inviting downtown area blending historic and residential homes. It’s steps away from the College of Charleston, as well as Charleston's finest and shopping.
Getting Around:
We offer free parking onsite. We are only 3 blocks from Upper King Street, so most guests prefer to walk and explore the city. The beach is 15 minutes away by car. There is also a free shuttle offered by the city that runs along King Street (3 blocks away) to popular stops. Bike rentals are available nearby or you might enjoy trying a pedicab taxi.
Other Things to Note:
We are three blocks from King Street, right in the middle of all Charlestonian activity. Incredible restaurants such as Chubby Fish, Southbound, Verns, 167 Raw, Indaco, and Azur. Great places to have drinks are even closer at places like Felix, Stars, Babas, and Prohibition. There are also great niche restaurants closer than King Street, such as coastal Italian at Allora or creative Indian at Rivayat. If you want the full Charleston experience, a walking tour or carriage tour is a must. If you have sea legs and are aiming for total immersion into history, the steamboat runs to Ft. Sumter daily and you can land your two feet exactly where the Civil War started.
