About this property

70s Modern House in the Woods, three minutes to Rhinebeck village

The ideal getaway house in the perfection location: conveniently close to all the great restaurants and shops of Rhinebeck village but just secluded enough be able to relax and lounge in the privacy of a wooded site. The house has vintage character but modern updates, including all new kitchen appliances, TVs. This is the home of an artist and architect, who are passionate about collecting and sharing their love of art and antiques. You will fall in love with the great room and its conversation pit, which is ideal for entertaining or just lounging at home by the fire. The house is in a wooded area but bathed in sunlight. Warm wood walls, high ceilings, and wrap around windows will make you feel completely immersed in the natural surroundings.

The “social” half of the house features the great room (living room) with the fireplace, the dining room, and a large open kitchen all on the upper level, downstairs is the Den, with a pool table, TV, and wood stove.

The garage has space for two cars but is currently set up as a workout area.

There are five bedrooms in the sleeping half of the house, with three upstairs rooms and two downstairs. Each bedroom has unique furnishings and character, and each has plenty of storage space. The Master Bedroom has a king sized bed, a large TV, an en-suite bath with a tub/shower, double sink, and an “intelligent” toilet. The room is very large, has a bookshelf and reading corner and great views out to the woods. It also has a large walk-in closet. Also upstairs are two additional bedrooms that share a 3-piece bathroom with a tub/shower. On the lower level, there are two bedrooms that share a bathroom across the hallway. The washer and dryer are also in this room. There is a work desk set up in one of the lower bedrooms, and also a TV.

The house was built to be an all-season retreat, and you can feel it: games night in the living room by the fire. Play guitar or spin records. Sit by the fireplace, play a game of pool downstairs or enjoy a movie night. Toboggan on the hill out back when the snow comes, or just enjoy a snowfall from the dining table. The large kitchen has ample cabinet space, and all new appliances including an ice-making fridge. There are all the kitchen utensils you could want. If you think you might need something specific for your cooking plans, just ask us and we’ll let you know if we have it.

The wrap around deck starts by the kitchen and has a BBQ. The larger deck is off the dining room and faces out to the south, with a large dining table and a view of the woods. Across the hill you’ll find the hammock, and at the top of the hill there’s a pair of Adirondack chairs where you can enjoy a quiet moment and take in the surroundings.

Great escape!
We had a great time at this interesting home! Besides a few needed repairs like the front door code not working and some lightbulbs in large overhead fixtures that needed changing, we loved our stay! We really appreciated the welcome basket of snacks and especially the Nespresso coffee for the coffee maker! Our adult sons enjoyed playing the guitar and pool on the pool table! I do agree that this house is much better for adults or families with older children because of the stairs and railings. Overall it was a fun time and we would definitely return!

Beautiful and convenient location
Started with checking in. Door code did not work and required assistance. I felt the house was not at all child friendly...deck railing was dangerous as well as railing overlooking spiral staircase. Basement bedroom was quite humid. Cutlery and kitchen accessories inadequate. An air fryer does not make for a gourmet kitchen and lacked even basic equipment like cutlery. The location was great but broken window seals made it hard to see some of the view. We had a great time inspite of these issues. Very quiet and private. This house could be amazing with some repairs and attention to detail. Bar concrete floor in lower lever was cold and uninviting and GYM was exaggerated...just a garage with a punching bag!!! Expected more the $$$
