Gorgeous Home in Wooded Setting with Large Fireplace

Northern Lights is a 2,300 sq ft. vacation home perfect for a large family or group. This beautiful vacation home is located on a private 1 acre wooded lot and has a total of 5 bedrooms (including loft) and 3 bathrooms.

The main level is an open concept layout with the kitchen, dining area and living room.
The spacious living room offers vaulted ceilings, a large stone wood-burning fireplace, sizable windows and patio doors leading out to a deck and a lovely view of the surrounding woods. Enjoy the beautiful outdoors seated around the fire pit with a log swing and adirondack chairs.

The main level has a master bedroom with a king sized bed and a shared bathroom.
The lower level offers 3 bedrooms (one king, one queen and one bedroom with 2 twin beds), 2 bathrooms, and a TV area with a futon. The large loft area has a twin bed and a pyramid bunkbed overlooking the living room. There is also a couch, air hockey table and fooseball table located in the loft.

This vacation home offers high-speed internet and WIFI throughout, 5 smart TV's, and a well stocked DVD and game cabinet. The home has main level air conditioning, in-floor heat in the main level bathroom and kitchen, new flooring on the main level, a newly remodeled main level bathroom and updated furniture. The kitchen is well stocked and equipped with items such as a Flexbrew coffee maker (carafe and k cup brewing options), crock pots, griddle, waffle maker, nutribullet, blender, toaster, frying pan, pots and pans, utensils, spices and vegetable oil. A washer and dryer is available for guest use.

Northern Lights is located on the West side of Big Powderhorn Mountain on a cul-de-sac with close access points to the shotgun ski run. Copper Peak, Lake Superior, Black River Harbor, and the 5 spectacular Black River Waterfalls are all located nearby within 15 minutes.

This cabin is so lovely, and it was perfect for our group during Sisu Ski Fest weekend. People had room to spread out and enjoyed the multiple options for entertainment, including air hockey and foosball! We hope to be back.

Such a beautiful house. The space was perfect for our early holiday ski trip. Air hockey and foosball were a big hit. The open floor plan allowed for family game time with everyone. The only complaint is that we wish we booked it for longer. Thank you for sharing your vacation house with us.

The kitchen was amazingly furnished. The place was clean and spacious. We didn’t ski at Powderhorn this year but loved the other ski hills. This is our third visit to the house and we have been more than pleased each time. We even contacted the someone and asked if we could get in earlier because of an on coming storm and we were able to do that. Helped a lot. Thanks

Perfect cabin for three families

This is an exceptional cabin! Perfectly situated just a short walk to the ski hill (really a ski in/ski out). Beautifully decorated, very clean, in great condition, and fully stocked with anything we needed. Owner is super responsive and helpful. We can’t wait to return to this house!

Wonderful time.

My family and I have stayed at many VRBO’s but this one was the best yet. Such a warm and welcoming home with all the little things taken care of (kitchen spices, plenty of hot chocolate, fire wood & super soft towels). We are already looking at dates for next year to run it back!

Our grown family enjoyed our stay and found the rental to be well-equipped for family time together. Kitchen was very well-stocked and the open floor plan made gathering together great. Ski vacay with friends!

This house was the perfect place for a ski vacation for our group of 3 families. Set-up perfectly for our 5 kids. We had extra time in the house because of the sub-zero temps, so we had a foosball & air hockey tournament. :) The owners were incredibly responsive and proactive in making sure that we’d be comfortable with the abnormally cold temps.

Positively Powderhorn Perfect!

Northern Lights was beautiful from top to bottom. It was perfect for us (oldsters), our grown kids and grandkids. We were able to entertain family and enjoy Lake Superior, and the peaceful fire pit at night. The kitchen was over-the-top supplied with whatever we needed. Gorgeous fireplace, wonderfully comfortable bedrooms and bathrooms. One of the nicest places we've ever rented! We'll be back!

UP adventure

It was very clean and easily accommodated 6 adults and 3 children. Kitchen was well stocked with basics. Lots of games and videos as well as air hockey and soccer that the kids enjoyed. Lots of wood for bonfires at night. Trish was a wonderful host and sent us many suggestions for things to do in the area.

Ski weekend get away

We had a great time in the UP staying at Northern Lights. The cabin was very comfy and family friendly. Tons of games to play and movies to watch, in addition to the fuse ball and air hocky tables. Lots of little extras like candies, and K cups. Loved that there were throw blankets in the living room to curl up with. Bed rooms were all clean and very comfortable, as were the bathrooms. We popped a breaker running some space heaters and Trish responded immediately to our message and had it taken care of. Powerhorn is a very short drive away and the shotgun ski run is walking distance (though they hadn't opened it yet for the season.) We will definitely stay here again.

Excellent week

We stayed for a week with my husband and kids and my sister’s family. The group contained kids ranging from 6 years to 21 years of age. There was something to do for the entire age range. Excellent WiFi connection, tested by video classes attended by the 21 year old. Great hiking trails within a few mile radius. Great views of the meteor shower and night sky in general. The house was very clean and very well stocked.

Family Friends Ski Weekend

We enjoyed every part of our stay at Northern Lights. Our group included 2 families with young children (ages 4 and 6) and the set up of the home was fantastic. Well stocked kitchen. Easy access to Big Powderhorn. Clean and updated. Fantastic DVD and game collection. The owners were welcoming and easy to engage with. All the small attention to details including full ice trays, hot cocoa, little chocolates and plenty of kindling and firewood were greatly appreciated. Overall wonderful place and great long family ski weekend.

Perfect Stay for Ski Weekend

This property was perfect for our stay. We had 3 families with kids from age 4 - 13. We had plenty of space for the adults and the kids. The house had a cozy cabin feel but was still updated and clean. Proximity to Big Powderhorn Mountain was ideal. We were 3 min away so easy to come back to the house, eat lunch and warm up. The kitchen had everything we needed including hot chocolate and marshmallows. The heated floors in the kitchen and bathroom were amazing! The owners were incredibly responsive. I would definitely recommend and we plan to come back. Thank you Brad and Trish!

No Snow, but still fun

We spent a long weekend here with the intent of snowmobiling, however weather did not cooperate and there was no snow. Spent our time checking out local trails, saw a couple of waterfalls, and just relaxed. Living area of the home is awesome with a nice fireplace and views. Of note one bedroom is on the main level, the others are in the basement. The upstairs is an open loft with air hockey and foosball tables and also doubles as another bedroom. Would have been a perfect trip if we had snow but still enjoyable.

The perfect winter getaway

I can't say enough good things about our experience at Northern Lights. Since planning and booking a year ago (lock this desirable property in early), Trish has been so helpful and responsive to questions. We were a large family group with many kids, and although our ski in/out dreams were diminished by the closing of the Shotgun run (c'mon mother nature!), our proximity to the ski hill was perfect and the short drive to the lodge was easy. The home was clean, tidy, and had EVERYTHING you need. We grilled outside, made fires (plenty of kindling, paper, logs, and lighters), and enjoyed the fully stocked kitchen. The beds/bathrooms were clean and had GREAT towels. The mattresses were comfy! The little kids stayed upstairs in the loft and LOVED the foosballl and air hockey tables. The adults loved hearing the memories being made. We brought our own games and dice - big mistake as they already have them all! Catan and Ticket to Ride are our favorite. My only regret is not booking the same weekend for 2025 in time! Will have to get on it early to book for 2026... we seriously can't wait to come back.

The perfect place to stay!

We had a fantastic time staying at this property. Every little detail was so well-thought out. It was our home away from home for a few days and the kids and adults alike loved staying at Northern Lights! Trish was so accommodating! She did an excellent job of communicating with me and meeting all of our needs. The online pictures and descriptions are all very accurate, but it’s even more perfect in person. I would highly recommend this property!

Wonderful Cabin in the Northwoods

My family and I stayed in this beautiful property while we visited northern WI to bury my grandfather in Hurley, WI. Check-in was seamless. Property was just as the pictures and listing described. The host, Trish, was very responsive, kind, and accommodating. We had 7 adults and 2 children in our group. Everyone fit very comfortably in the space. We enjoyed the outdoor grill and fire pit space the most. The kids enjoyed playing with all the games the house was stocked with. We would definitely stay in this home again. We loved it!

Fantastic house, excellent hosts

The house exceeded our expectations. It was very well appointed - the hosts thought of everything. It felt like we were at home because anything we went looking for was already there, blankets, firewood, flashlights, K-cups, etc. The hosts maintained great communication througout the weekend. The beds were comfortable and had quality linens. We may schedule a family stay during ski season because of the accommodations!
