Hacienda Del Avion is heaven on earth! A beautiful home that is very spacious with a gorgeous view of the Southwest landscape. Gretchen is a wonderful host and our weekend was perfection!
Unique Home, Great Location, and Outstanding Hospitality
We had a fantastic stay! Gretchen, the host, was incredibly responsive to all our questions throughout the trip. We happened to be in Bisbee during a quirky, fun-filled weekend, and Gretchen’s recommendations were spot on — we took her advice and had a wonderful time. The house itself is great: aviation-themed (which really resonated with us, as my husband is in aviation), spacious, quiet, and perfectly situated just a few miles outside of town. It was also really neat being right off the Bisbee Taxiway! We couldn’t have asked for a better experience.
First off Gretchen is an excellent host!Very communicative and always willing to go the extra mile for her guests. This place is massive and pictures do not do it justice. Will definitely stay here again in the very near future Thanks Gretchen
Loved the size, location, and beauty! We were a family group: 3 over 70, two Gen X, and 2 teenagers, and this house had the right number of beds and bathrooms to make for a fun relaxing stay! Lovely open decor and plenty of natural light. The views of the dessert and surrounding mountains were spectacular!

Great property for our group.
Easy finding what I was looking for on vrbo. Great decor, very comfortable. Would stay at this location again.
What a wonderful place to have a little vacation in the desert south of Bisbee and very great amenities and beautiful views included. Very secure and spacious home with top notch appliances and bedrooms
The property was amazing! We were able to utilize all the amenities it had to offer, including the game room and fire pit. The host was great with communication and the house was very clean. It was cool to also see the hangers take off and land right there on the runway. We had a wonderful time celebrating my birthday and exploring the small town of Bisbee. Would 10/10 come back again!
We come to Bisbee every year, and typically stay in Old Bisbee. However this year we wanted something different. WOW!!! Bleautiful and amazing house and property!!! House is a wonderful size for relaxing, with 360 breathtaking views. Enjoying coffee in the early morning watching the sunrises were perfect. The Pub is great!! Jukebox plays great oldies! Gretchen is awesome and very responsive!! I highly recommend Hacienda Del Avion!!

We own a company that works a lot on Federal Facilities and had to shoot our guys out there from California. They absolutely loved the home and felt like they were at home themselves. The home was clean, beautiful and Gretchen was wonderful with communication and allowing us to squeeze in last minute between reservations. We loved working with Gretchen and look forward to staying in her other property when we come back after Thanksgiving. Thank you Gretchen for everything!
The hacienda is in a fabulous location in the desert next to the Bisbee airport. There were spectacular sunrise and sunsets. We had cocktails on the patio and watched the small aircraft takeoff and land as the sun was setting.
The house as its name suggests is themed with aviation artifacts and travel items. It is well appointed. This appealed to all of our group aged from 20-80.
The house is very large . We were there for 4 nights and didn’t have the opportunity to use all the amenities.
There are several outdoor areas to sit and relax as well as the pub/ game room., besides the living area and dining room. Everyone commented on the lazy Susan on the dining room table. This made meals so easy with a large group.
Can’t wait to return!
Gretchen, our host was just fantastic to deal with

Nice house but not clean and things didn't work
The house is nice but in need of tlc. The floor was very dirty and the game room was below par. The juke box, fireplace and pinball machine didn't work in the game room. The fireplace in the living room and master bedroom didn't work either and the stove burners need to be replaced for safety reasons. If you advertise the house has certain ammenities, they should work. Gave 3 stars because the house could be fantastic if given more attention to repairs and upkeep.
This spacious VRBO was perfect for our girlfriends' weekend, with an unexpected bonus of watching small private planes take off and land right in front of us. The house offers plenty of room to spread out, a well-equipped kitchen, and unbelievably quiet surroundings. The backyard fire pit area was a highlight, with comfortable seating perfect for evening gatherings and incredible stargazing. Just note: while Gretchen provided wood for our first night, finding more in Bisbee proved challenging. Bring your own if you plan to use it multiple nights.Speaking of Gretchen - she's a wonderfully responsive host. When the water heater failed, she had it replaced before anyone needed their evening shower.Only heads-up: my group of menopausal friends found the synthetic bedding and foam-topped mattresses quite warm for comfortable sleeping.Overall: A peaceful retreat with great amenities. Just pack some extra firewood and maybe consider bringing your own sheets if you run warm!
Fabulous!! Really beautiful property, Immaculate in every way, the decor was amazing and Gretchen was there immediately with all concerns. had such a great time and Bisbee is wonderful as well as all the lovely people I met there!!
Beautiful property and plenty of room for everyone. A few maintenance issues like light bulb replacement, fireplace issue, no ice maker, modern dishes would be nice. We were afraid to use the "antique "dishes, especially in the microwave. Microwave or stove in the apartment kitchen would beep at all hours including night.
Be prepared to hear coyotes and leave outside lights on if you're returning after dark.
Staying at this hacienda was delightful. It is artfully decorated with an aeronautical theme and unique surprises of books on the tables and bedsides following the theme. The round kitchen table with a turn table in the middle is very conducive to family visiting over a meal cooked in a well outfitted kitchen. The bedrooms are very comfortable. This is the kind of place one wants to return to with family and friends.
My husband and I spent a week at Hacienda del Avion with my two siblings and their spouses. The property was a perfect setting for our group. The huge kitchen/dining area/great room gave us tons of space for gathering, yet there was ample area for establishing our personal space as well. The hacienda is very quiet - in the desert with quail, cactus wrens, and Say's phoebes singing in the yard in the morning and dark skies for star gazing on the patio at night. Yet we were close enough to Bisbee to quickly pop into town and enjoy it's restaurants and shops. We encountered very little traffic as we cycled or walked the local roads. The nearby airstrip was so lightly trafficked and with such small, quiet planes that it was an entertainment, never an irritant. Gretchen and Kevin were fabulous hosts - very available and eager to help make our stay pleasant and comfortable. I highly recommend a stay at this property.
This house is outside of town, rather remote, but once you're there it is a fun place to stay. Best to arrive during daylight. If you're coming to experience wine tasting in the area, note that many are only open Thursday through Sunday. The house has many beautiful collectibles and interesting books. The owners are very communicative and everything was as promised. The house has every amenity you could possibly need.
