About this property

Linden Lodge on Mount Nittany - Fantastic Winery Views

This contemporary home built on the southern slope of Mount Nittany has breathtaking view of Penns Valley and Mount Nittany Vineyard & Winery below. Originally owned by the founders of the winery and now owned by their daughter and son-in-law, it has been recently renovated with a deck expansion, three new bathrooms, flooring and updated furniture and fixtures. The open floor plan, vaulted ceilings and two family rooms were designed to accommodate gatherings of family and friends. Only six miles from Penn State University, Beaver Stadium, Pegula Ice Hockey Rink, Bryce Jordan Center, and State College, this private location provides a peaceful respite from the congestion of this college town. It is also a perfect home away from home for business or social travelers visiting Penn State.

Perfect Getaway near State College with a beautiful view and A+ Winery
Couldn't have asked for better or more accommodating hosts, the cabin was immaculate with plenty of room for a friend's getaway. The View is stunning, overlooking the winery and mountains. A short walk to the winery for a tasting of some of the best wine we've ever had. The proximity to state college and all of its amenities was wonderful. Really enjoyed the stay, will be back!

Beautiful location
We were a family group of 11 including a newborn, toddler, two teens, and adults. The house has plenty of space to spread out especially when the weather is nice with the long deck overlooking the winery. The hosts were responsive and addressed a small issue quickly. Bathrooms were well stocked. Good water pressure except in the master bath shower. Kitchen had everything you could possibly want. All in all a great family trip.

Beautiful area
We were in town for the Happy Valley IRONMAN 70.3. The whole family came along and this house was the perfect place for my wife and I, two kids, mother in law, sister in law and her two kids. We enjoyed the views, had plenty of room, and had everything we needed and more. I only wish we could have stayed longer!

About the host

Host profile image
My husband, Steve, and I purchased the home and 63-acre property from my parents in 2020. I grew up in State College and graduated from Penn State in 1978 with a business degree. In our early married life, Steve and I both worked in banking in Pittsburgh until Steve's job took us to Australia for three years. Returning to Pittsburgh, we raised our three boys and enjoyed a happy suburban existence until we became empty nesters and were looking to leave the city. We always loved the State College area and were delighted to return to become involved in the winery business which we eventually took over from my parents, Joe & Betty Carroll, in 2016.

Why they chose this property

This house was built in the1960's and was ahead of it's time with an open floor plan and raised ceilings. It was a "kit" home, called a California Deck Home. It's a very livable house with lots of natural light and lovely views from every room. On the property there is a pond which is inhabited by bass, blue gill and several "grandaddy" grass carp.
