Quiet Valley Living Historical Farm
#15 in Best Things To Do in The Poconos
Learn about Pennsylvania German agricultural heritage at Quiet Valley Living Historical Farm, a former farm-turned-museum complete with a farmhouse (original to the property), cabin, bank barn, smokehouse and more. Dressed in period clothing, tour guides portray members of a 19th-century Pennsylvania German family, taking visitors through farm tasks, such as hearth cooking and animal husbandry. Plan your visit around one of the attraction's special events, which include an ice cream social, a rye straw craft fair and a reenactment of a Civil War encampment.
While Quiet Valley is open exclusively for student field trips during the school year, it hosts a number of seasonal events for the general public, including a Harvest Festival and an Old Time Christmas.
Bushkill Falls
Best Things To Do in The Poconos
known as the "Niagara of Pennsylvania," Bushkill Falls spans 300 acres and eight waterfalls in the Pocono Mountains. Visitors can admire the falls, considered one if the best things to do in Pennsylvania, from a series of wooded hiking trails, which vary in difficulty – the Green Trail is a 15-minute walk to the Main Falls, while the Red Trail spans nearly 2 miles and passes all eight waterfalls.
Note that some of the trails require visitors to go up and down a lot of steps, which can be slippery at times. Some trails also have wooden bridges. Previous visitors often recommend wearing sturdy walking shoes for this reason.
Jim Thorpe
Best Things To Do in The Poconos
Make a reservation at Cafe Arielle at the Stabin Museum, an art gallery and restaurant built over a stream (which you can actually view while you dine). – Amanda Norcross
Founded in 1818, Jim Thorpe was first known as Mauch Chunk (which translates to "Bear Place" in the Munsee-Lenape Native American language). In 1954, it took on its current title after the famous Olympian and Native American athlete of the same name was buried in town. (His mausoleum and memorial are located on Route 903).
Asa Packer Mansion Museum
Best Things To Do in The Poconos
Located in Jim Thorpe, this luxurious mansion was constructed in 1861 for Asa Packer, railroad magnate and founder of Lehigh University. Construction of the three-story, 18-room home took two years and cost $14,000. The roughly 11,000-square-foot mansion has served as a museum since 1956 and holds the distinction of a National Historic Landmark. Mansion tours mansion showcase an assortment of artifacts, as well as the interesting history of Packer and his family.
Past visitors rave about the excellent tour guides and interesting historical facts shared. They also praise the opulent mansion's original furnishings and period-specific details, claiming that walking across the porch feels like stepping into a time capsule. Despite its appeal, reviewers warn that the mansion's location on an exceptionally steep hill makes accessing it particularly arduous (and impossible for wheelchairs), but they maintain it is worth the climb

About the host
Hosted by M&E Pocono Rentals LLC

We are a fun loving family that loves to travel and get away. Hence we decided to buy a ski house that we could enjoy throughout the year, and there appears to be a lot of other people that enjoy skiing as well, as hiking and the water park.
Why they chose this property
Soak in the magic of autumn at fall festivals all over our region.
What makes this property unique
We are 100 yards, or a 30 second walk to the mountain. Ski right down and take the lift up to the mountain to get a run in.
