The Rock Great Secluded Cabin for Fishing Hiking Swimming on 200 Acres
Enjoy a secluded cabin on a large tract of land all to yourself. Get up in the morning and go for a swim in the River or take an exhilarating hike up RockRidge that overlooks the property. Some may prefer just sitting in the Gazebo next to the River and Reading a book. Maybe Relax in the River floating slowly around the swimming hole. Hiking, biking, fishing, swimming, or simply enjoy the river and mountain surroundings. Hot tub is warm and bubbling! This is a small cozy cabin located on the ridge overlooking the river. I trail goes down to the river and gazebo area. There is a large screened in porch that connects to an outdoor grilling and eating area. An air conditioner is located in the cabin but during extreme heat only works to keep the cabin comfortable. Great for families or those that enjoy nature.

We had the most enjoyable trip staying at this cabin. Jeff was a great, informative host! The property is one-of-a-kind. Probably the best we have ever stayed at. I wish we had booked more time immediately upon leaving. There was nothing like sitting on the large screened-in porch listening to the nature sounds at night!
Amazing weekend in the mountains, enjoyed floating down the river and hiking the mountain without ever leaving the premises. Amazing property, can't wait to go back.
Hot tub was great, front porch was cozy. Property was clean. Grill worked great, there was an odd smell in the second bedroom( like wet pets or bad carpet).
My husband and I enjoyed a very quiet, relaxing stay at The Rock. The location is well off the beaten path and wonderfully private—exactly the kind of place we love to find. The property itself is beautiful and fun to explore. The river area is incredibly serene, and I can only imagine how stunning the lavender fields must be when they’re in full bloom. We accidentally took the wrong path (went left at the old camper) on our way to the canyon and ended up on top of the mountain instead. Most trails are easy, but this one was definitely steeper and rockier—still very peaceful, though. It rained almost nonstop during our stay, but we didn’t mind. We spent plenty of time relaxing on the screened‑in porch (“the living room”) and curled up in bed binge‑watching Paramount. On our second night, we ventured into town for carry‑out pizza from Michael’s, and it was delicious.Jeff, our host, was easy to communicate with and checked in at both the beginning and end of our stay. Overall, we had a lovely experience and would absolutely consider returning to this property for a future trip.
We had a great time. Cabin is well maintained and well furnished . Views are beautiful. We hiked around the property, went fishing, and relaxed in the hot tub. We had our two dogs with us and they were able to run and hike with us and play in the creek.
Owner very helpful and communicated well. Highly recommended this property
Very peaceful location. Went an entire week without seeing another person, and only hearing a little noise from across the stream, or a nearby rooster. We had a great time hiking, swimming and playing with the dogs, and relaxing either on the porch or around the fire pit. Great communication with the owner. He answered any question we had during the week, and checked in to make sure we were enjoying ourselves.
Stayed for one week at this property with a friend. We wanted a week of peace and relaxation in a beautiful place, and that is exactly what we got. Cabin is surrounded by nature and is a short trip to the creek. No neighbors close by. We didn’t see another single soul for a whole week. Spent our days swimming in the creek, relaxing in the hot tub, grilling and evenings stargazing and chilling out by the firepit. Bonus, the property’s host was incredible. Was very quick to respond to questions and did everything he could to make sure we had the great time we did!
The cabin was very cozy. Quiet location. We sat on the porch listening to the river drinking our morning coffee, so peaceful. Hot tub was very relaxing. Very nice place!! Owner was great!
We wanted to take our large-ish family camping but have a wild toddler and still preferred a walled structure ifyouknowwhatImean. :-) First impression? Small - but the owner warned us and I was under no false assumptions. Kids LOVED the hot tub to death. Firepit and S'Mores were a nightly event. It was peaceful - could still hear the road a small amount but it wasn't busy so really just the occasional car. Very secluded and beautiful. Great stargazing. Fishing was good. We were there early October so the colors were spectacular. We walked around the property quite a bit and it was perfect for little kids and young teens who want to wander. Will love to come again!
The ONLY reason I give it 4 stars and not 5 was that 1) the kitchen was extremely small - microwave, toaster oven, and 2-burner cooktop. The grill made up for it, but it was still hard to cook for our family of 7 with that setup. 2) hardly any indoor space - it was pretty chilly one of the days up there and we had to just sit on the floor inside because the only seating was a small loveseat and really no "living room". There again - the screened in porch more than made up for it, but when the weather is bad, what to do...? Anyways, loved it nonetheless!
The property itself was picturesque. It was quiet and comfortable—a very romantic place for a couple. The weather was perfect too; if you’re thinking about the time of year, I suggest Labor Day weekend.
It is an amazing little cabin…perfect for a quiet retreat from the big city life. The owner checked in a couple times just make sure everything was going well.
We had such a relaxing time at this cabin. The screened porch, deck and hot tub have amazing views and you can hear the water because there's no road noise. Once we checked in we didn't leave the property and really loved exploring the ridge, splashing in the stream and cooking on the grill. They really have all the essentials for a great outdoor weekend. If you want to stay inside sit on a couch and watch TV this is not the place for you. If you want to spend all your waking hours (and some naps!) outside then this is the place. It's like mega-glamping. The owner was friendly and offered great text based hospitality. We'll definitely be back.
My family of four (2 young adult children) stayed in this cabin for a few nights. The property was beautiful and well managed. There was a huge grill, plenty of outdoor seating, and a nice fire pit surrounded by chairs. A large pathway was cleared to provide nice, long walks along the property with gorgeous scenery. The cabin itself had a screen-enclosed porch with comfortable chairs. The inside provided all the necessities, including toiletries in case you may forget. The host even left a basket for all the supplies for smores! The beds were comfortable had plenty of pillows. The internet worked well even when several people were using it at the same time. The owner also was very responsive and communicated with us prior to arrival. I would definitely recommend this little cabin!
My family and I live in a city where the hustle and bustle gets old. This was the perfect escape where we were able to relax, unwind, and refresh from our daily lives. The cabin was cozy, the beds were comfy, and the porch was a great outdoor living room. we spent most of our time outside. Coffee in the mornings on the porch, fishing and swimming in the river most of the day, and grilling, fooseball, board games with the kids, campfires (with smores) and hot tub at night. Most importantly, the hospitality was on point. Jeff, the owner, was responsive, friendly, funny and informative. We communicated for weeks before the trip and he sent me pictures, answered questions and assisted in anything we needed. I highly recommend this destination and can't wait to bring my family back! Thank you Jeff!!!!
We had a blast fishing, shooting, riding ATVs, hiking, making s'mores over the camp fire and relaxing in the cozy cabin. Love the fact that we could bring our dogs, they had a great time too! We will definitely be back next summer!
Complete and full detachment, serenity, and solitude - this place is perfect. Nice touch - the chocolate and marshmallows. Thank you! Jeff was very responsive and helpful in providing directions to the nearest attractions. I would recommend this place to anybody and everybody: there is everything for any age to enjoy.
If you’re looking for a secluded cabin get away in this area, I can’t recommend this property enough. The only time we left it in our 5 day stay was to go out to eat in the town of Paint Bank - the Swinging Bridge cafe (another gem!) We swam in the creek and hiked with our dog. Had a soak in the hot tub (minus the dog ;) … and then did it all over again. The cabin was just right - king bed in one room and great bunk beds in the other. All mattress were very comfortable. No bugs - except the ones outside ;) Very clean. The screened in porch was great for morning coffee, we also chose to eat dinner out there. If you’re looking for a place to really unplug, this was perfect! Although we did have a good wifi connection when needed. Our son and dog want to know when we can go back!
*oh, another review mentions broken down items on the property…and while there was one “abandoned” very small barn/shed area…it didn’t detract at all from the beauty of the property. But I like old things/ruins, I think it gives a place character.
Jeff was a responsive and patient host. The property was a 7 hour drive for us and we weren't sure to expect, so he took plenty of time to explain what we had to look forward to and sent pictures not on the listing. The cabin is lovely and the outdoor sitting area/hot tub were well laid out and a lovely place to relax after exploring the area, hiking on the property and swimming. The space and privacy were just lovely.
We had a wonderful time at The Rock! The cabin was clean and cozy. The screened in porch was perfect to escape the bugs and sun but still be outside. Fire pit, hot tub, and deck were great! It's the perfect spot to get outdoors with all the comfort of indoor ammenities. The river is just a short walk, and there is plenty of space to roam other than that. The property is well kept, and the owner is very responsive and polite. Very secluded. 10/10. Would recommend.
