About this property
The Sloth House 1 -Couples \ PooL- BeacH \ BikeS \ BirdwatchinG Observation Deck
We appreciate you inquiring with us. With so many options to spend your hard earned time and money, let's focus on what we do, and don't have.
Wildlife- Imagine for a moment, settings of being emersed in nature, like a zoo, but without the cages. These animals are free to roam, with some of the most diverse nature in the world..
We are on our second family of sloths. A mother with her baby were spotted together recently, with the baby wrapped around the mothers belly. and the father close by. It's a jungle out here, with monkeys, birds and all sorts of ground animals to choose from. Night sightings are amazing as well. Often a sloth will sleep hanging upside down on the ropes.
We were filmed on an episode of House Hunters International, for this exact setting. (Limon episode). Fun!
Comfort- Everyone wants to be comfortable, so we designed this home to be just that. Comfortable, and still not consuming a lot of petro energy to accomplish this.. This being said, please read our reviews, as they depict how comfortable our place really is. So you can decide for yourself.
No A\C. We do not have the hum of an air-conditioning unit blowing your breath back at you, but we have ceiling fans that circulate fresh ocean and mountain breezes. The custom palm roof is the best resource in making this home confortable, as the palm refects the suns heat, and when it rains, a soft sound of rain drops keeps the sounds of nature alive.
Fun- We built this home to be fun. Imagine having your coffee, drinks and dining on the 30 foot high observation deck. Looking down on the sloths, birds and other ground animals is quite an experience. A cool dip in the pool surrounded by all this nature. Heaven!
We don't have much concrete, but natural materials with natural settings. Even our showers are outdoor, with privacy of course. Fun!
Have a stroll on the provided bicycle along the bike paths to town, 5 minute away, and the beach two minutes away.
Beaches. There are black, beige and white sand beaches to choose from. All these beaches are accessible by bicycles and cars.
Life's a beach!
Town is 5 minutes away, . with over 60 restaurants, and so many shops with almost everything you may need.
The nightlife is fun, with live music and fire dancing in town.
If this sounds like the magical place you want to stay, we will be glad to welcome you with open arms. We have had many many birthdays, honeymooners and anniversaries of all kinds here over the years.
Working with the Sloth foundations is a great joy in preservinh their existence, and is certainly a priority of ours. The foundations installed ropes from the surrounding trees, to a beam we extended out from the observation deck. Its quite impressive, and the only setup in this area. I hope you get a chance to experience it.
Nature certainly is not for everyone, so please use your do-diligence before booking your stay. I want you to have a great vacation, and in the end, that's entirely up to you.... That being said, I hope this is a great fit for you to perhaps think outside the concrete\ asphalt boxes you may have been trying to avoid all along.
If this is the case, this is your place. We usually have daily sightings of the sloth.
Thanks for listening, and I hope to assist you in your comfort and fun vacation!
Tropics- This tropical jungle is one of the most diverse in the world, and this being said, it is always good to be prepared for such climate changes and conditions. It is suggested to bring proper clothing such as rain gear. Yes, there are mosquitos almost everywhere you go. Wearing proper protection such as shoes, socks and long clothing, mainly in the evening, and early morning times. Mosquitos are a very important part of the pollination of plants. Although they are here, it's not to say you will get bit.
Sincerely, Jeff-The Sloth House

This is one of the most unique properties we have ever stayed in. We saw sloths, iguanas and tons of other wildlife. The pool was so nice and refreshing after our long days. Jeff was the best host and sent us tons of recommendations throughout our stay. Highly recommend and would stay here again.
My wife and I are nature lovers and birders and this place was absolutely ideal for that. The observation deck is wonderful. From the deck and property grounds we observed numerous birds, including two varieties of tucans, howler monkeys by dozens, and a sloth mommy with baby. If you are looking for this sort of thing we highly recommend it. If you are looking for AC and luxury accommodations you should look elsewhere, but it was perfect for our style and what we were seeking The host Jeff is great and is available next door. He was highly accommodating and helpful.
Jeff’s place is a labor of love from the moment you arrive to departure. He designed every inch of this home and it’s clear that he values an open space experience. We enjoyed waking up in the jungle and drinking coffee on the viewing deck while seeing the tucans fly by. Our first night we even saw a sloth! If staying here, do NOT forget your bug spray. We called this a glamping vacation because you are completely surrounded by nature and critters are everywhere so be mindful of this. Jeff was extremely responsive throughout our stay and would periodically send us great recommendations in the area. I do not recommend walking the street alone at night past 9 pm, so rent a Tuk Tuk. Other than that, it was a very pleasant stay and we highly recommend it! This is an experience you will never forget.
Jeff's treehouse is absolutely gorgeous! The craftsmanship and design is awesome and the house itself is so comfortable. We were able to enjoy coffee in the morning looking out over the trees and see toucans and parrots and a sloth. In the evening we enjoyed listening to the toads while relaxing w a bottle of wine.
The location is super convenient to town but when at the house you feel miles away.
Jeff is a great host supplying us with a bottle of wine and local chocolate to get our stay started. Great communication and easy check in and check out. We cannot recommend enough! A must stay!
