About the host
Hosted by Michael

I am an Asian American from Southern California working in property asset management. My family is originally from Hong Kong and southern China.
In my younger years, I travelled much of the United States, Mexico, and Central America, mostly via cross country road trips. I have travelled by boat, plane, train, and bus throughout east Asia and Southeast Asia and I have lived abroad in Asia for some years.
During my travel experiences, I felt that the backpacking experience was the most rewarding. In particular when it came to staying in a locals home as opposed to a hotel.
I definitely believe in the mantra of taking the road less travelled having taken for example, a ferry river boat on the Mekong River from south west china, going between Burma and Laos pass and through the golden triangle to get to Thailand or taking a 2 day train to the eastern frontier of China and then taking a trip on the korakorum highway to Pakistan after being denied entry to Tibet due to a lack of permits or Chinese nationality.
The trip to the eastern most provinces of china was definitely amazing and eye opening.
For those who have not been to China, I definitely have to recommend Zhangjiajie. It is what inspired Avatar, from what I have heard.
Most recently I rafted the Colorado river in Colorado and I have say for those who are into adrenaline sports, it is a must do.
When I find the opportunity, I enjoy scuba diving and for the most part just getting away and resetting.
Having travelled a decent though somewhat still limited part of the world, and having had the privilege of growing up in Southern California with its abundance of diversity, I am fortunate to have met and come across peoples from all over the world and share.
I miss many of those experiences and would eventually like to get back to those days again to finish visiting the rest of the world.
